AB Corp & Viacom18 Motion Pictures’ co-production “Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap”, is a film which is made in a controlled budget of approx Rs. 10 crores and has been aggressively marketed and distributed.
The film, being a mass and family entertainer, has hit the right chord. It is reported that BHTB has made a staggering Rs. 13.5 cores via sale of satellite rights pre-release and the popular music by Vishal & Shekhar was brought by T-Series. All other rights and steady performance at the box office, to begin with, will overall result in good profits for the producers.
BHTB started on a gradual note on Friday but being a family movie, audience turn-out jumped significantly on Saturday and Sunday which saw a phenomenal jump, leading to a net weekend collection of an impressive Rs. 7.50 crores approx, say trade sources. Overseas business for BHTB also followed a similar pattern with admissions remaining consistent.
In the recent past, three films by Viacom18 - Tanu Weds Manu, Pyaar Ka Punchnama and Shaitan - have all benefitted from steady performance at the box office with collections building over an extended run at cinemas.
The audience has lapped up BTHB given that Amitabh Bachchan is a legend and an icon of our country like none other. His return to the silver screen in his trademark angry and flamboyant style has driven his fans to a state of hysteria! Amitabh Bachchan is back with a bang with this landmark film in Indian Cinema history and Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap will always be remembered, as the film that gave this new generation a chance to witness Bachchan.
Amitabh Bachchan once again proves that he is the Baap of Bollywood ,fans from all over the country are rushing to theatres to catch Bachchan's most spectacular comeback as the 'Original Action Hero' on the big screen. Bachchan's power packed dialogues and impressive actions sequences were met with 'seetis' and applause from fans. The film is a perfect family entertainer. Big B is one of the very few actors in Indian Cinema who enjoys such a fan following from audiences of all ages. We hope to see more such Bachchan magic on the big screen in the coming future!
2011/7/10 23:42:02 After successfully directing his first Hindi movie ‘Bbuddah’ with Amitabh Bachchan, its director Puri Jagannath also seems to become an old man. He said “It is not that easy to find new ideas always while becoming old. However, I consider doing a film in Bollywood is just a promotion in my film career. Making movies means is just selling our ideas. If, one gets a chance anywhere he/she shouldn’t leave the opportunity, whether it is Bollywood or Hollywood or Tollywood. Charmi and Subba Raju have been successfully introduced to Bollywood with this Bbuddah movie. Many in Bollywood who were impressed with their acting skills and their style are enquiring about them now and some even trying to introduce them to Ram Gopal Varma, as they are unaware that they both hails from Tollywood. When, Subba Raju is telling his dialogues in Hindi, people around were amused with his language and pronunciation, just like we enjoy Sayaji Shinde’s Telugu style.”
Big B Amitabh Bachchan has reached Hyderabad on Thursday evening to watch the premiere of his latest Hindi movie ‘Bbuddah hoga tere baap’ at IMAX Theater. Puri Jagannath has directed this movie. Hema Malini, Charmi, Ravina Tondon, Sonal Chauhan, Neha Sharma, Markand Deshpande, Viswajit Pradhan,Mahie Gill, Sonu Sood, Minissha Lamba and some others have played important roles in this movie.
2011/7/4 23:42:32 Director Puri Jagannath, who is enjoying the success of his debut Hindi film ‘Bbuddah’ hoga tere baap’ has announced that, soon he will remake this film into Telugu. But, he didn’t mention any actor’s name for this movie. Right now, he has to start his next movie ‘The Businessman’ with Mahesh babu. Later, he has commitment for his 2nd movie with Abhishek Bachchan. He also promised to direct Chiranjeevi’s 150th movie. But, neither of them has made any commitments about starting the movie.
Since, remaking of ‘Bbuddah’ movie and directing Abhishek Bachchan’s movie is in his hands Puri may utilize the rare opportunity of directing Chiranjeevi’s movie as his 1st preference. The other reason to take-up Chiranjeevi’s movie is the instability of Chiranjeevi’s plans. Puri has to start this movie as early as possible, before he changes his mind about acting in the movies.
In the mean time he may choose the team for this remake film and engage them on preproduction works. Hope, soon he will announce the dates of this Mega movie.
2011/7/25 23:49:41 Puri Jagannath and Amitabh Bachchan were happy to deliver a successful movie ‘Bbuddah hoga tere baap’ in their combination. Puri very well knows that the big image of his hero and his perfect age enhanced the results of his movie. Therefore, Puri who wants to remake it into Telugu and Tamil eyes Kollywood super star Rajinikanth who has the same caliber of Amitabh Bachchan in south. According to reports, Puri is planning to approach him soon with his remake idea. But, all it depends on whether he will agree to act in a remake or not.
The superstar creates a new record by singing the title track of his forthcoming film ‘Bbuddah – Hoga Terra Baap’ in ‘Acapella’ style – a first ever in India!
For those who are new to the concept, Acapella music is a solo or a group vocal or singing without any instrumental sound. Interestingly, Music directors Vishal – Shekhar had been planning to do something unique with Mr Bachchan since quite sometime and they came up with the idea of using the acapella style to create a memorable number for ‘Bbuddah’. When the duo approached Mr Bachchan with this suggestion, they were in for a pleasant surprise when the actor immediately agreed to do it!
Music director, Shekhar Ravjiani, elaborated, “We wanted to try something new with this song. We did the basic setup and then Mr. Bachchan replaced every track with his voice. Mr. He recreated the sounds of approximately 10 to 12 instruments, from drum to bass to the snare to the chorus. In a nut shell, he did everything required to make a song!”
A source from the film says, “Given Mr. Bachchan’s multi-talented persona, it is no surprise that he took this challenge up very sportingly and was very excited about doing something new. He gave his best and the result is for everyone to see. Every sound you hear in the title track is created by Mr Bachchan himself! This is the first time that the ‘Acapella’ style of singing has been used in Indian cinema and we owe it to Mr. Bachchan for introducing us to something so unique!”
Well, the powerhouse that he is, Mr. Bachchan raises the bar higher every single time he tries his hand at absolutely anything!
Produced by Viacom18 & AB Corp, ‘Bbuddah – Hoga Terra Baap’ is written & directed by Puri Jagannadh and also stars Hema Malini, Raveena Tandon, Sonu Sood, Sonal Chauhan, Southern actress Charmi & South Indian baddie Prakash Raj.
2011/3/8 8:31:03 Puri Jagannath’s ambitious project ‘BBUDDAH’ with a tag line- ‘Hoga terra baap… ‘shooting started at Mumbai. (Amitabh Bachchan who don’t want to mingle his film title ‘Buddha’ with India’s great saint ‘Goutam Buddha’ has asked the people and media to spell his film title as BBUDDAH instead of Buddha.)
Yesteryear dream girl Hema Malini, Raveena Tandon and Charmi are playing female leads against Amitabh Bachchan in this film. Puri Jagannath is directing and Amitabh’s AB Corporation is producing it in collaboration with Vicom 18.
It’s a full length of comedy packed film, in which the 60 year old Amitabh Bachchan believes and bluffs the people as he was around 25 years age. Though, he projects himself as young, his short temper and his attempts to conceal the aging factors create enough fun. Besides, there will be Hema Malini and the other two beauties pinching him all the way, that will surely makes the audiences burst with laughs.
Puri Jagannath is planning to complete the film in flat 45 days schedule and release it before end of April or in the first week of May.

Puri Jagannath also quiet happy for the news and said, being a big fan of Amitabh Bachchan I got rare opportunity to direct him and now this rare honor. I am really happy for it.”
2011/7/21 22:24:12 Punjabi doll Charmi Kaur feels quite lucky to get a role in Puri Jagannath directed Hindi movie ‘Bbuddah’ of Amitabh Bachchan which become super hit in Hindi belt. While, she is passing through her hard times at Tollywood with no hits in the vicinity, luckily Puri has offered her a role in his Hindi film. She falls in the eyes of some Bollywood directors and producers with her charming beauty and excellent performance. Soon before she completes her debut film ‘Bbuddah’ she got her 2nd film opportunity from Vinod Bachchan who is producing ‘Zilla Ghaziabad’ movie with debutant director Anand Kumar. Though, she was offered a small role in this movie, she got the opportunity to share screen space with Bollywood top artists like Sanjay Dutt, Vivek Oberoi, Arshad Warsi and Minissha Lamba who are playing lead roles in this movie. Charmi is quite happy for these unexpected developments that breathe life into her career again.
Amitabh Bachchan’s ‘angry young man’ image not only helped him to ascend the ladder of success but also highlighted him as a sculpted actor. His iconic image which came through films like ‘Zanjeer’, ‘Deewar’, ‘Trishul’, ‘Kala Paththar’, etc, became a benchmark and gave a new dimension to his career.
The 61 year old actor is all set to reprise his Angry Young Man look which had such far-reaching cultural impact and is ready to get into the garb of an old man for his forthcoming film ‘Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap’.
The film is produced by A B Corp in association with Viacom 18. Puri Jagganath will be directing the movie.
It is believed the movie is a rom-com starring Hema Malini and south actress Charmee in lead role opposite Big B. Rumour has it that the movie will present AB at his iconic best and is sure to recreate his old towering image in a brand new avatar of an ‘angry old man’ although the film will have a lot of comedy in it. Big B will be seen as a short tempered old man who gets angry easily. Blogging about the film Bachchan said, “Its official now. The title of the next AB Corp production will be spelt “BBUDDAH”, with the tag line … ‘hoga terra baap!’ Just making sure it does not mingle with Gautam Buddha, the saint,” said Amitabh while showing his concern that audience might get misguided by its title.
2011/6/26 9:46:56 Bollywood No 1 actor Amitabh Bachchan and dream girl Hema Malini starrer movie Bbuddah (hoga tere baap) is creating hype with its promos. Puri Jagannath has directed this movie. Abhishek Bachchan, who is quite impressed with his directorial skills, has asked him to direct a film for him also.
Amitabh Bachchan acts as a retired professional killer who comes to India from Paris to finish a last task. He, despite being old dislikes hearing people call him as Buddahh (Old man). Hence, the friction arise from the situation develops enough comedy to delight his fans. The flamboyance attitude of his character, wearing colorful costumes, his action scenes every thing about him is totally different to what he had done all these years. He also lends his voice for a remix song in this movie.
All these gossips about the film develops hype in the market and the film bags Rs.13.5 crores for its satellite rights. The film is said to be made with a limited budget of Rs.10 crores, which means the film makers have already earned Rs.3.5 crores table profit even before the release of their film. Amitabh Bachchan is all praises to director Puri Jagannath.
Vishal and Shekhar has given the music for this movie.
The lovely Trisha has a large fan following both in Telugu as well as Tamil. She has had a dream run so far. But her last two films did not give her any satisfaction. While her Tamil film ‘Kuruvi’ bombed at the box office, her latest film in Tollywood ‘Bujjigadu made in Chennai’ has attracted mixed talk.
But what has hurt her most is that even her die hard fans are not all happy with the way she looked in ‘BMIC’. Her make up and her costumes were not up to the mark. Even her character was not presented in a strong way. Trisha looked just like she was in Ravi Teja’s‘Krishna’.
In fact, some people point out that they were not sure if they were watching Krishna or ‘BMIC’. There was hardly any difference in the way she was presented. The same Trisha played a strong character with a distinct identity and mannerism in Adavari Maatalaku Ardhale Verule’.
2011/4/1 5:41:10 Sitting in opposition party for years and years is disgusting for any political party. TDP has been passing through all odds ever since it has shifted to opposition benches. Few weeks back, its senior leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy had a head on collision with his party president Chandrababu Naidu. But, some how the matter was hushed up and it was described as a storm in tea cup.
Now, again another storm takes the party at its strong fort in Krishna district. An in-fight between the strong TDP groups leads to resignation of Devineni Uma-president of TDP Krishna district, Vallabhaneni Vamsi, the president of TDP Vijayawada city. Both of they accusing the other have sent their resignation letters to party office.
While, Vallabhaneni Vamsi and Kodali Nani forms one group, Devineni Uma alone runs another strong group of his own in the party and the city.
The spark ignited during the recent visit by Hari Krishna in Krishna district. Vamsi and Nani blames that, being the president of Krishna district Devineni Uma would have welcomed Hari Krishna in a big way, but with his ignorance or negligence turned it into a simple program.
Devineni Uma retarding to the allegations, stated that he has high regards for Hari Krishna and NTR clan. Yet, he is resigning to his post only because he was hurt with the allegations made against him.
Indeed, it will be critical test for Chandrababu to resolve the problem amicably, otherwise he will loose a very strong party cadre in Krishna district to YS.Jagan Mohan Reddy.

2012/2/14 20:49:19 Kerala film producers have imposed a ban on Kerala beauty Nitya Menon whom they think is a head- strong actress. Ever since she has occupies top slot in the film industry, she is said to be carelessly behaving with her film producers.
A Mollywood producer who went to her home for her dates was shocked to see her response. Although, she is in the home she sent a message telling him that he need not to talk to her about the film, instead he can finalize the matter with her secretary staying in her office.
The producer who feel humiliated with her response lodged a complaint against her with Mollywood producers' council, where there are already several such complaints lodged against her by other producers. Hence, the council has imposed a ban on Nitya Menon from acting in Malayalam movies and asks all the producers and directors to avoid her booking for their films in future, until she apologize the producers for her misbehavior.
It came to know the council is also planning to ask the Kollywood and Tollywood councils to ban the actress. If it happens, then it would teach a lesson to head strong actress Nitya Menon.
The Mahesh Babu film Dookudu is creating history at the box office. The film collected a record 9 crore on the first day of its release. Dookudu is now going strong by the day. The film has collected 21 crore till Sunday i.e. in the first three days of its release!
2007/11/22 1:31:08 The item girl turned solo heroine, Mumaith Khan is all tensed up a day ahead of the release of her film. Maisamma IPS is the film in which she is playing the title role. The full-length role has given her a lot of scope to perform. She plays a police officer but will also get enough chance to show off her skin.
Mumaith has pinned a lot of hops on this film to establish her as a heroine. She would like to play women oriented roles in films with strong characters. Her fate at the box office will be known in the next 24 hours.
2006/10/31 6:34:31 It doesn’t take much to please the NRI audience in the UK. Which explains why the most regressive films and mediocre performances are appreciated. The power of the inflated Himesh Reshammiya bubble was evident the other day, when the Elvis wannabe had Wembley completely packed, which the biggest Bollywood stars hadn’t managed. The man had the coconuts in raptures; even hours later, they hadn’t had enough. Mind you, it was Himesh’s first-ever stage performance in London after rendering 36 top numbers in recent months, so that makes all the difference — I’d be interested if the audience shows up next summer, were he to come again. From television producer to composer to singer to performer, Himesh is now turning actor with his debut feature, Aap Ka Surroor (named after his hit album), which he proclaims will be the costliest film ever in Hindi cinema! And that’s not all—his HR Music Academy for aspiring students opens India-wide soon. Must credit the man—a splendid example of where passion and determination can take you, even though it could be done with a bit more finesse.
‘Saw’ rocks the B-O
Last time, I recommended watching The Devil Wears Prada and The Departed, both outstanding Western features that can boast thumping box-office figures. The latest to join the bandwagon of hits is Lionsgate’s horror sequel, Saw III, which ousted competition to bag the No.1 spot at the box-office on Friday.
According to boxofficemojo.com, the R-rated blood-fest took about $14 million, to carve out a stellar No. 1 lead at the box-office. Lionsgate has scheduled Saw IV for Halloween weekend next year.
Talking of box-office, the Bollywood feature that’s making big bucks overseas is Farhan Akhtar’s Don. Touted as an atypical overseas film and slammed by a section of the self-styled trade pundits, the thriller has gone on to gross more than £1 million in the UK within 10 days of release and nearly $1.4 million in the US. They don’t call him King Khan for nothing.
The Queen is hot
The Departed will have a serious bone to pick with The Queen. The latter has emerged a strong favourite with Academy members. At the recent Los Angeles premiere of The Queen, filmgoers agreed Helen Mirren would be judged ‘Best Actress’ for her bravura turn as the dowdily out-of-touch Queen Elizabeth II. A month before, when I saw The Queen, which I thought was sterling, I knew it would emerge a strong contender. It is a huge success with critics and that helps its prospects for the Oscar and Globe, as in earlier years for Sideways and Brokeback Mountain.
“I have faced many bitter experiences in the industry. I have also faced many ups and downs in my film career. When, there is success quite naturally anyone will be very relaxed and enjoy the success, but when I had a failure then it will create fire in me and inspires to work hard and with full enthusiasm. During the shooting of ‘Bbuddah hoga tere baap’ I learnt so many new things from Amitabh sir. Whenever there was a scene to be shot between us, he used to ask, ‘Have you fully learnt your dialogues? Come, let us rehears it one or two times before we face cameras.” I am quite surprised to see his dedication towards his job. So far, I used to think that, I am doing my job best. But, after working with him I understood that, I need to show more dedication towards my job as he shows to his job. Really, it is a wonderful experience to work with him,” said Charmi about Big B Amitabh Bachchan.
2011/7/12 2:20:19 Director Puri Jagannath who is flying high in the clouds with the success of his latest Hindi movie ‘Bbuddah’ with Amitabh Bachchan has told the media ‘Though, I am planning to make ‘The Businessman’ with Mahesh babu and Abhishek Bachchan in Telugu and Hindi simultaneously, both the Businessman will be totally different. The only resemblance in this film is the basic story line and Mumbai back drop. All other things will be made according to suit their body language and image as their fans wish to see them. Kajal Agarwal will be acting in Telugu version but not in Hindi. I plan to take a Bollywood familiar figure for the Hindi version.
