When Salman Khan was asked about Baba Ramdev and his fast, the star replied in his inimitable way that he knew only of three Babas...

1 The Baba at home (he meant his father Salim Khan)

2 Bollywood's Baba (Sanjay Dutt who is fondly called Baba)

3 And Sai Baba (the Shirdi Sai Baba who several Bollywood folk hold in reverence)

Obviously Sallu is not exactly a yoga fanatic as he believes in pumping iron only in the gym, so the Ready star remains clueless about Baba Ramdev's yogic existence!

No irregularities, no connection with seized cash: Sai Trust

2011/6/28 2:43:08 Denying that there any financial irregularities have taken place by the members of the Sri Satya Sai Central Trust, a Trustee V Srinivasan on Tuesday said that the Trust has no connection with the Rs 35 lakh seized by the police near Kodikonda check post in Anantapur recently.

Addressing a crowded media conference, Mr Srinivasan denied that financial transparency is being strictly maintained. “All donations given in the name of Trust are being deposited in the State Bank of India,” he said.

Mr Srinivasan further said that the Rs 35 lakh seized by the police was meant for a consultant who had been chosen to construct the Maha Samadhi for the Sai Baba. The seized money was given by a devotee of the late Sai Baba and was being taken to the Shankaranarayana Consultancy, Mr Srinivasan said.

"The Sri Satya Sai Central Trust has no connection with the money. The money was not recovered from any Trustee. The vehicle from which the money was recovered does not belong to the Trust," Mr Srinivasan emphatically said.

Besides this, the consultant has already explained to the police that the money was meant to be used for the Maha Samadhi, the Trustee further said.

"Since the Trust is not going to implement the project, the money was handed over to the project consultant. All information sought by police has already been given," Mr Srinivasan further said.

The Trustee added that the allegations of financial irregularities are unfounded. “The Trust is strictly maintaining financial transparency, and has filed all statutory returns. Donations received from devotees have been duly deposited to banks in a transparent manner,” Mr Srinivas.

The Trustee added that the Trust has already paid Rs 9.75 crore as income tax, even without any demand by the concerned authorities after deciding to pay necessary tax on all its inventories.

Mr Srinivasan took pains to emphasise that all philanthropic activities carried out by the Trust would continue as usual. “There is no shortage of money for the philanthropic activities,” he said.

He added that the Trust has appointed Prof Anantaraman as media coordinator.

Another Trust member Naganand said late Satya Sai Baba had not left any Will behind.

Mr Naganand added that the trust is contemplating a proposal to make public its finances and other activities every year.

The Trustee further appealed to the media to act responsibly instead of publishing baseless stories against the Trust and hurting the sentiments of devotees.

The state government had written a letter to the Trust secretary seeking a detailed report, including clarifications on charges of misappropriation on Monday.(INN)

Thousands throng Sai Baba memorial in Puttaparthi

2011/7/15 4:18:25 Thousands of Sai devotees thronged Bhagvan Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s memorial, which was unveiled and opened for visitors at the Prasanthi Nilayam Ashram in Puttaparthi, Anantapur district on Friday to mark Guru Purnima.

The ‘mahasamadhi’, a rectangular, white marble edifice - 9 ft long, 6 ft wide and 2 ft 2 inches high, is located in the 10,000-capacity Sai Kulwant Hall, the largest of hall of the World’s biggest ashram, where Baba used to give darshan to his followers.

A large number of devotees gathered outside the ashram once again to catch a glimpse of the memorial, which is placed exactly over the spot where the spiritual guru is buried.

Sai Baba had died on April 24 with cardio-respiratory failure after spending nearly four weeks at Sri Satya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences Hospital run by Satya Sai Central Trust.

He was buried inside the Sai Kulwant Hall in a private ceremony on April 27, open to key relatives and members of his trust, while thousands of devotees watched it live on the screens put up outside the ashram, waiting with bated breath for the gates to be thrown open again.

Many years ago, he had apparently expressed desire to be buried within the hall itself.

As devotees watched on, Baba’s body was lowered in a seven feet-deep pit in the hall, which was then then filled with ‘Kuruskshetra matti’ (soil), salt, silver, gold and navaratnas (nine jewels).

Sri Satya sai Central Trust has tried to keep the event on a low scale. According to the programme listed, the samadhi will be unveiled at 8 am followed by lectures by Indian and foreign speakers and then public darshan.

Every year on Guru Purnima Day, Satya Sai would give darshan, take part in bhajans and deliver a discourse.

This full-moon day in the month of Ashadam is considered auspicious and gurus are worshipped with sincerity.

Born on November 23, 1926, in Puttaparthi, Sai Baba was followed by an estimated 20 to 50 million people worldwide after claiming to be a reincarnation of spiritual guru Sai Baba of Shirdi at the age of 14.(INN)
