The Telugu Desam Party chief Chandra Babu Naidu is very optimistic about the chances of the TDP in the ensuing by polls. He says that the fight would be mainly between the TRS and the TDP. The congress party is nowhere in the picture.
Babu is confident that the TDP will put up a good show in the by polls and surprise everyone. Babu reasons that both the TRS and the congress have taken the people for a ride by making false promises.
2007/12/19 21:18:28 The TDP chief Chandra Babu Naidu is going through a bad phase. But his stars do not seem to be bright either, now or even in the near future. He is unlikely to come back as the chief minister. The TDP will also lose some seats in the next assembly elections and will end up with lesser number of seats.
Babu is already battling lethargy and loss of interest among the party cadre. And now his stars too seem to be deserting him, if the predictions of a city-based astrologer are to be believed.
2012/3/12 22:47:32 At last Congress high command is able to declare its new Chief Minister's name for Uttarakand state. It declares Tehri MP Vijay Bahuguna as new Chief Minister of the state. Congress party which lost in all the four states during the recent elections has won only in Uttarakand state just with one seat majority over its rival BJP. It has won 32 seats of 70 seats in the assembly, where as BJP has won 31 seats. The victory with such a narrow margin has lead to horse trading in the state. Congress high command couldn't dare to declare any name until now as there are many aspirants for CM post and all of they keep threatening the party high command to jump out if not satisfied. So, the Congress starts a tight-rope walk in the state. BJP which also claims having majority in the floor may not leave any chance to topple the beleaguered Government.
Congress will win majority of seats in by-polls, claims Chiranjeevi
2012/5/18 7:24:20 Hyderabad, May 18 (INN): Rajya Sabha member K Chiranjeevi on Friday said that the wave was in favour of Congress party in the ensuing by-elections.
Talking to media persons at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad, Chiranjeevi expressed confidence that the Congress party would emerge victorious in majority of constituencies in the by-elections. However, when reporters specifically asked for numbers, he restrained from giving the exact or approximate number of seats that Congress could win.
Though Opposition parties are campaigning against the ruling Congress party to get mileage in the by-elections, Chiranjeevi said that the people would never believe them and vote for the Congress. Stating that no one was above the law, he said that the law would take its own course in the disproportionate assets case against YSR Congress party president Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Chiranjeevi dismissed allegations of YSR Congress linking CBI probe with the Congress party. Stating that the CBI was an independent agency, he said that no one could influence the probe.
The Telugu Mahila chief Roja announced that the TDP would give 33% seats in the ensuing polls for women candidates. She was trying to drive home the point that the TDP was the only party hat was committed to providing 33% reservation for women.
It is not clear if she has kept the party informed about her statement. While Babu is known to profess about gender equality and other issues, it is however highly unlikely that the TDP would actually come forward and reserve 33% seats in the elections for women. Roja appears to have exceeded her brief and caused much embarrassment to Babu by her speech.
2008/5/27 7:16:24 Surprised by the figures? Well, these are the numbers being brandied about by the TRS, Congress and the TDP. The three parties are now fighting it out bitterly to win s many seats as possible in the ensuing by polls.
The TRS is facing an uphill task; it is fighting with its back to the wall. The party went into the polls challenging that it would win back all the 16 assembly seats and the 2 parliament eats. But the ground reality today is quite different.
By the very conservative estimates of their own party leaders, the TRS is expected to bag about 12 assembly seats and 2 parliament seats. The Congress and the TDP are better placed comparatively as they have nothing to lose and only everything to gain.
The congress is hoping of wresting 7 assembly and 2 parliament seats while the TDP is confident of bagging 6 assembly and 2 parliament seats.
Meanwhile the campaigning has come to an end this evening. The polling will take place on May 29 and the results will be out on June 1.
As the date for polling for the ensuing by polls on May 29 draws near, the campaigning in gathering momentum. Chief minster TS Rajashekar Reddy, TDP chief Chandra Babu Naidu, TRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao, the CPM, CPI, Lok Satta and others are out on the streets campaigning with full force.
But the activity at other places in and around Hyderabad is attracting bigger attention. It is the betting racket that is going on away from the media glare. The odds are going up by the day for TRS retaining all the assembly and parliament seats.
The highest numbers of bets that are waged now are on the TRS losing anywhere between 4 to 6 assembly seats and one or two Lok Sabha seats. This is bad news for KCR as the odds on betting are a usually a clear indicator of which way the wind in blowing.
2007/10/10 11:23:54 Megastar Chiranjeevi has been toying with the idea of entering politics for a long, long time. His entry into politics is the most widely discussed issue at present not only among political parties but also among the common public. It is reliably learnt that Chiranjeevi has commissioned a secret survey across the state. The idea was to gauge the people’s response to his political entry. It is learnt that the survey threw up mixed response. While a majority of the people were not averse to Chiru entering politics, many felt that he would not make much difference to people’s lives. Another important aspect of the survey was the number of seats Chiranjeevi might bag if he starts his own political party. The maximum according to the survey is that Chiru might bag about 40 seats. This has reportedly put Chiranjeevi in toe minds. Should he take the plunge or should he drop the idea of entering politics. Wait for more on this.
2008/3/17 10:03:12 TDP chief Chandra Babu Naidu is now very serious about launching a daily newspaper. There was a party organ called ‘Telugu Desam’ some time back. But it was wound up after being run for some time.
Babu now feels the need to have a paper of his own as his biter rival YS Rajashekar Reddy’s son is starting ‘Saakshi’. Eenadu is pro-TDP but the relations between Babu and Ramoji Rao are not they used to b when Babu was in power.
Murali Mohan and Chittoor MP Adikesava Naidu are the main promoters. Babu will hold a majority stake in benami names. ABK Prasad has been roped in to edit the paper. The paper has been christened as ‘Aksharam’.
2008/3/17 10:11:14 Superstar Rajnikanth and megastar Chiranjeevi are very god friends. Rajnikanth and Babu are also very close friends. So both Chiru and Babu attended the film launch function of Rajnikanth in Hyderabad the other day.
But Babu and Chiru may become political rival once Chiranjeevi launches his political party. But they did not show any sign of awkwardness or discomfort at the function. They both seemed to share a good rapport.
Analysts now say that there could be some secret understanding between Babu and Chiru. This may have come about with the help of Rajnikanth. Even if Chiru and Babu fight the next assembly elections separately, Babu can count on the support of Chiru if he falls short of a majority.
Rajnikanth is said to have assured Babu that he would convince Chiranjeevi to support him in such eventuality.
The Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar is all set to become the chief minister of Bihar for a second term.
The NDA is headed for a more than two-third majority in Bihar. While the NDA combine of JD and BJP is leading in nearly 200 seats, the RJD-LJP combine is way behind with lead in just 36 seats.
The congress is way behind with a tally that could be less than 10.
2008/2/11 8:32:45 The congress party took stock of the situation over the latest threat of the TRS. The TRS gave indications that the party MLAs and MLCs would quit their membership and that MPs will resign on February 15. The congress party is not yet all perturbed over the issue. It has now decided to brazen it out.
The TRS wanted to put pressure on the congress party after the senior pro-Telangana leaders of the congress who went to Delhi returned empty handed.
The TRS game plan is that the EC would conduct re-elections to the vacant seats and the TRS will win with bumper majority.
The congress party has now decided to take the TRS head on. The congress will put up strong candidates and is also confident that it would bag some seats and also dent the image of KCR along the way.
But the latest reports suggest that the TRS is likely to keep the resignations issue on hold till the budget session of Lok Sabha.

2008/4/16 8:24:45 The TDP chief has planned a big 150 day yatra 'Mee Kosam' from Chandragiri from April 21. But he will now have to make some major changes to his route. The EC has announced that the by polls would be held on May 29.
Babu will have to campaign extensively in the Telangana region as many seats have fallen vacant here following the resignation of the TRS MLAs and MPS. Babu will also be forced to make his stand clear on the separate Telangana issue during the course of his campaigning.
2012/5/21 3:09:53 Hyderabad, May 21 (INN): Union Overseas Affairs Minister and APCC observor Vayalar Ravi on Monday claimed that the Congress party would win a majority of seats in the by-elections scheduled to be held for 18 assembly and one Lok Sabha seats on June 12.
Talking to reporters at Gandhi Bhavan, Vayalar Ravi admitted that the YSR Congress party was strong in some constituencies where by-elections were being held. However, he expressed confidence that the Congress party would win a majority of seats. He said that the Congress leaders were participating in the by-elections campaign with vigour and hope that they would overcome the challenge posed by Kadapa MP YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Vayalar Ravi said that the voters in majority of seats were satisfied and happy with the welfare schemes being implemented by the State and Central Governments for their welfare. He said the beneficiaries of welfare schemes would certainly vote for the ruling party in the ensuing by-elections.
The PCC Observer said that he was in constant touch with all the leaders who are participating in the by-election campaign. He said he would participate in the campaign along with PCC president Botsa Satyanarayana in other constituencies for the next few days.
Vayalar Ravi also ridiculed the claim of YSR Congress leaders that they sacrificed their elected posts for the cause of farmers. He said the people should realise the factors that led to Jagan Mohan Reddy's exit from the Congress party and why by-election was imposed upon the people by his group.
Regarding Telangana issue, Vayalar Ravi condemned the statement of Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao that Sonia Gandhi would announce a decision on the statehood issue in the next three months. He said it might be KCR's personal view and the Congress party does not endorse his statement.
Reacting to threats by Congress MLAs and MPs from the Telangana region that they would resign from their posts in July, he said while the PCC was in touch with the MLAs, the Central leaders are trying to convince the MPs. He said it was not the right time to speak about the Telangana issue.
Vayalar Ravi also termed the CBI questioning some ministers in connection with the Jagan's assets case as a routine affair. He said the ministers were part of the government and if something goes wrong, the probing agency could question them for information and details.
2007/10/30 5:25:16 A lot of talk is currently on over the film Athidhi. While a majority of the criticis has given a ‘average’ verdict, the makers claim that the film is very good. The divided talk and also the lot of negative publicity over too much violence, the collections have dropped to an extent.
However, director Surender Reddy continues to claim that there are no fights and violence in the film. The fact is that it is excessive violence and it has not gone down well with a majority of the audience. Mahesh Babu is shown bashing up the villain and his henchmen at regular intervals right through the film.
Coming to the collections, the producer claims that the collection in the first two weeks have exceeded even Pokiri. The trade reports suggest that the film might have made around 12 crores but Ramesh Babu claims that the film has collected over 21 crore. The truth is somewhere in between.
Chief Minister YS Rajashekar Reddy commissioned a secret survey in all the 16 assembly constituencies and four Lok Sabha seats going to polls on May 29. The survey was conducted by some top sleuths of the intelligence bureau with the help of some senior journalists.
The results are none to favorable for the congress but they are also none to favorable towards the TRS. The congress is likely to bag three or four assembly seats, it is in a strong position in Ramayampet, Vikarabad, Jadcherla and Medaram and the Warangal Lok Sabha seat.
The TDP is set to put up a good show. It is ahead in the Adilabad Lok Sabha seat and is expected to win in Dommata, station Ghanapur and Alair assembly seats.

Ravi Babu is a good film maker but his penchant for playing gay characters and playing up the theme excessively in films is now a matter for discussion.
In his latest offering ‘Nuvvila’ the Gay theme and gay comedy is used excessively and this has not gone down well with a majority of the audiences. If is done in moderation t is okay however Ravi Babu has gone to the extreme in the film. Looks like he has been given a free hand by the producer rand he used it in ‘Gay abandon’!
The just concluded by polls were by far the most interesting and bitterly contested by polls ever in the state. It is none other than the big separate Telangana issue that was the main reason behind the by polls. For KCR, these polls are a do or die battle. The future of KCR as well as that of the TRS hinges on the results of the by polls.
The exit polls have not exactly pleased KCR. Even the pre-poll surveys reported that the TRS was sure to lose some seats.
According to the exit poll results, the TRS may retain about 10 assembly seats from the 16 that it held before the by polls. Out of the four Lok Sabha seats, the TRS is ahead in two and neck and neck in the third seat. So here also, the TRS is set to lose one or two seats.
The ruling congress is expected to bag anywhere between three and four assembly seats and one Lok Sabha seat. Even the TDP is expected to romp home with two or three assembly seats and one Lok Sabha seat.
The counting will begin at 8.00 a.m. on Sunday and the results will be out in about two hours time, i.e.by 10.00 a.m. Till then the guessing game continues and the leaders are all tensed up.
2007/12/3 3:39:51 The TRS chief K Chandrasheka Rao is likely to met the BSP chief Mayawati shortly. KCR is going to Delhi and he has sent feelers to the BSP chief. He wants to project an image as being pro-dalit and hence hopes to win over her support in Talangana.
KCR is also worried that A Narendra, who was expelled from the TRS some time back, might join the BSP. He wants to meet Mayawati and convince her not to entertain people like Narendra. If KCR enters into n understanding with the BSP during the lections, then he can win a majority of the seats in the Telangana region.
