"I adore him as a an artiste. But I hate him as a human being". That was the exact expression used by Shivaji Raja, charcter artiste at a press conference called by him at old FNCC Club premises a few years ago. He called for the press conference to precisely nail comedian Bramhanandam on some issues. After a few days the comedians in Tollywood came together under the leadership of AVS, they together accused Bramhanandam of belittling several artistes and insulting small actors in the industry.
The major issue raked up was about the funds collected by Bramhanandam to install a statue of all time great comedian Relangi at a place in Film Nagar.
As this washing of dirty linen between comedians continued, some wise man approached Dasari for help.
Dasari then called for a meeting to sort out matters. At the meeting Brahmanandam, brought the bust size statue of Relangi to show that he was sincere in his desire to install the statue. And he would utilize all the funds collected for the purpose.
This drama took place 8-10 years ago. The funny part of the story begins now. Where is the statue? Has it been installed somewhere secretly?
If the statue has not been installed where are the funds? Has everybody concerned forgotten all about the fund collection and Relangi statue installation. Is there at least a part of the fund still left?
2006/12/1 7:54:44 Naresh as Hero and Farzana as Heroine on Sri Katyayani Creations Banner which is Produced and Directed by G Nageshwar Reddy is a hilarious and rib tickling film 'Seema Sastry'. The shooting is fast progressing. Presently the action scenes are being shot at Kompally at Radhika Gardens.
Bramhanandam said that the title of this film is chosen from his role in 'Chennakeshava Reddy'' as Seema Sastry. Like the title the film is full of comedy. The comedians have put in the desired work force in this film to keep the viewers laughing all through the film which contribute to the success for many films.
M S Narayana said that Comedian Bramhanandam has taken the burden and led from the front in a different way. With a prime motive of a Comedy film, Ali with other comedians make the viewers laugh even in the most serious scenes including the five fight scenes.
Hero Naresh was confident to get upgraded with this film. The film moves in the backdrop of the marriage of Surekha Reddy and Subramanyam Sastry. The schedules are to be completed by 25 th December and after completing all the pending works, this film will be released in February said the producer.
If you think the comedians who play all those innocent characters on screen are the same in real life, you would be sadly mistaken. These comedians are wordily wise and very intelligent. They are also very miserly when it comes to spending money – even if it is meant to promote their own sons!
This fact was realized the hard way by some directors. Some of the young director approached Brahmanandam, MS Narayana and Kondavalasa with their stories. We all know that the three comedians are keen to make theirs sons as heroes. However, the veterans’ also know how risky it is to produce a film. So they are all looking for producers to launch the careers of their sons.
Even though they have made a lot of money, none of them is keen to invest even one rupee in the film in which their sons are the heroes. wordily wise or does it shows their confidence in the abilities of their children?
2011/2/9 21:52:50 Ace comedians Venu Madhav and Shiva Reddy who hails from Telangana nowadays turned their guns at their co-star and ace comedian of the Telugu film industry Brahmanandam. Though they both didn’t spell his name directly, they have blamed him for creating hurdles in their growth in the film industry. In a recent interview by given by comedian Shiva Reddy to a leading Telugu news channel, has clearly mentioned that one of his co star turns a major hurdle in his career and try to crush him with his mighty influence.
This case is now taken up by some film personals like Jaswanth Reddy, Jaihind Goud, Amrish Puri and Balu who also hails from Telangana. In a recent press meet held at Hyderabad, Jaswanth Reddy warning Brahmanandam stated “We came to know about the insults met by our comedians from Brahmanandam. We have strong evidences against him of insulting our comedians. It’s because they hails from Telangana region. If, Brahmanandam continues this kind of treatment to our Telangana comedians we won’t spare him.”
So, now our ace comedian Brahmanandam has to play a serious role in this Telangana sentimental episode, for pulling his co-stars for their nativity.
2011/4/9 8:53:21 Yesteryear great comedian late Raja Babu’s statue was unveiled on the banks of River Godavari at Rajhamundry on Saturday morning by veteran director Dasari Narayana Rao. MAA president Murali Mohan bares all the expenses for making and installing the statue as a token of respect to the great artist.
Union minister Pallam Raju, Vundavalli Arun Kumar, producer D.Rama Naidu and several ace comedians of present times have participated in this program. A cultural program will be conducted today evening, in which 80 comedians will delight the audiences with their comedy show. Apart from the comedians show, film stars like Swetabasu Prasad, Punam Kaur, Sanjana, Archana, Asha Saini and many others will perform a dance show in this program. Later, there will be a music concert by music directors Koti, RP Patnaik, Vandemataram Srinivas, Mano and some others.
It may sound strange but many comedians have expressed a desire to play villain roles. The comedians are very popular for their comic roles but some of them want to act as a villain, in at least one film. Brahmanandam, Ali, Sunil and others have said in public that they are looking for a chance to play villain. Each of them also is very particular that they would like to play a hard-core villain and not some joker kind of villain.
Sunil seems to be first of the bloc as far as villain roles are concerned. He has acted as a hero in a film. He has now bagged a big role as a full-fledged villain in a new film Sunil promises that the role will be like a mother of all villains. The actor will play a hardcore criminal in the film. Work on the film is likely to start in June.
Dasari Narayana Rao is producing a film with the sons of comedians MS Narayana and Brahmandam as heroes. Vikram son of MS Narayana made his debut with the film 'Kodukku' while Brahmanandam's son Gowtham made his film debut with the film 'Pallakilo Pellikoothuru'.
The film will be directd by MS Narayana. It now remains to be seen if the new film will give the new heroes success as actors. Their debut films failed to make a mark at the box-office.
Several comedians tried their hand to direct films and none of them could make a mark in their attempts. Dharmavarapu Subrahmanyam somehow succeeded in directing a serial for small screen, he could not succeed on silver screen. Another noted comedian AVS also tried to test his hand in direction and failed in three attempts.
M. S. Narayana also tried his best to direct a film and he too flopped. Now it is reliably learnt that MS Narayana is planning to direct another film again and it is going to be produced by none other than a senior director. It is not known why people choose to go behind the screen though they are successful on the screen.
Our comedians were able to evoke laughter from the audiences but why they want to make them laughter at their films is a big question mark.
2012/2/25 1:08:04 Hyderabad, Feb 25 (INN): Comedian turned hero Sunil is likely to come in a new avtar. This time, he has set his eyes on direction.
Scaling heights is the norm in filmland. For few people opportunities may come on a platter but for many they come after going through the grind.
For Sunil, things are slowly settling down. He started as a small time stage dancer, or what is called as record dancer in coastal Andhra, he has come a long way.
He entered the field as a comedian and could impress the class and mass with his variety of roles which were a blend of innocence, arrogance, dialogue punch, expression, gesture and situational humour. Sunil withstood the heavy competition as Tollywood has the maximum number of comedians, thanks to directors like Jandya, EVV Satyanaryana and Relangi.
In the maze of comedians, he maintained his identity and was always in the top three to five, when the chance of hero came his way. With his height expressive eyes, he did well in Andala Ramudu and Maryada Ramanna as hero. Next was RGV’s Appal Raju that just passed.
With Poolarangadu turning out to be a good success, Sunil is in demand.
But he expressed his desire to direct a film in near future.
“Yes, I am interested in direction. I worked as assistant director so I have the knowledge of that facet. In the coming days I wish to direct a film,” was what Sunil said in a game show in which the Poolrangadu team participated as part of the film promotion. The programme was beamed on Friday night.
Of late, AVS and Tanikella Bharani are the two comedians who took to direction.

"Arai en 305il kadavul’ is the next film which will be produced by director Shankar under his banner S Pictures. Simbu Devan who shot to fame with his directorial venture ‘Imsai Arasan will be directing this film. ‘Arai en 305il kadavul’ also will fall into the comedy genre, a subject that Simbu Devan seems to be adept in handling and delivering.
Kanja Karuppu and Santhanam, comedians of Kollywood have been elevated to the status of hero in this film but will continue to tickle the funny bones of the audience in the capacity of comedians. When the director was questioned about the strange title of the movie as to whether the number had any numerological link with producer Shankar whose favorite number is 8, Simbu Devan denied this. 2011/12/24 8:58:37 We can boost of having a host of comedians, thanks to some directors like Jandhyala and the like but the tragic tag to the crowded department is the lack of humour in the present day movies, at least in the majority of them. In the big mob, each artiste has his or her own inimitable style but it is overdone to the extent where people just can’t bear it anymore and pity lies in the fact that film makers fail to recognize it.
Main reason for this is the lack of good writers and enough time for a comedy track. Script writers and directors are concentrating only on the hero and promoting him throughout the picture. Comedians are used only as fillers without any proper link to the main picture. Comedians too are there to promote the hero in any which way. If by some strange reason, the comedian has to have an upper hand in the company of a hero, subsequently scenes will be created where the hero lampoons the comedian some five to six times more humiliating than what he had undergone earlier.
What is today passing out as humour, nay comedy, is nothing but lampooning an institution, profession, relation, personality, and habit or demeaning others with reckless comments in the name of evoking response, sometimes they are vulgar and nauseating as well.
Demeaning the characters of lecturers and teachers has been the most disgraceful development in the industry. Fun to a certain extent is ok but not to the extent of ridiculing the profession. Police, doctors, farmers, priests and all professions which have respect in society have been demeaned in one film or the other. Comedians are used only for such things.
You can have comedy police but not buffoon police and you find them in abundance in the films. Kota Srinivasa Rao played police inspector in a film who hails from Bandar and his humour was limited only that regional feeling which proved to be a healthy one unlike other films that make a mockery of policing in the name comedy.
Some of the dialogues between principal-teacher-student, police-offender, father-son, mother-daughter, trader-consumer have been ridiculous and the writer-actor-director-producer never must have been narrating it from personal experience nor do they want to be part of it in real life.
This is basically because, while discussing the story the comedy track was not thought of; it is neither part of the script not does it run parallel to it. Simply because a known face has to be shown and there should be a situation, dialogue and humour, the comedy scenes are there, so it seems.
Even in a super hit film like Pokiri, the beggars’ scene has nothing to do with the main story nor is it convincing. This is just one example, there are ridiculous characters, scenes and dialogues which are totally unconvincing and absurd. It is time to breathe real humour into the comedy scenes in the industry before things turn awful. (INN)
The two Simbu's in Tamil film industry are as different as chalk and cheese. One is a well known actor Silambarasan, the other is the non controversial soft spoken Simbudevan, the director.
Simbudevan the director after the runway success of his Mel Brooks style "historical comedy" with Vadivel's Imsai Arasan 23am Pulikesi is back with Arai En 305il Kadavul. It features two stand-up comedians, Santhanam and Ganja Karupu along with Prakash Raj who appears as God!
Arai En 305il Kadavul is about two strugglers staying in a lodge, and their next door neighbour in room number 305 is god himself! And god appears, helps and selects them as his messengers for the modern world, is what the story is all about. The story seems very similar to the 1977 John Denver movie Oh God!.
Simbudevan is depending on the script and the marketing of Shankar's 'S' pictures to make Arai En 305il Kadavul work. But Simbu has to be admired for his guts to make a full length commercial film with two small-time comedians.
The others in the cast are Jyothirmayi, Madhumita, Rajesh, M.S. Bhaskar. The film has music by Vidyasagar, and is being shot in Chennai, Thiruvannamalai and Nagercovil. We need more gutsy directors like Simbudevan and a producer like Shankar,to deliver the goods for Tamil cinema.

KVR disclosed that Two and Half hours of experience with film will be totally different and new feeling. Something something which happened on that day with the lead pair is the story which is also the seed to their love. Next what happened is only to be seen. The other song picturization will take place in Ramoji Film city from November 10th. Music by Vande Mataram Srinivas will strengther the story and the scnes between Bramhanandam and yashwant will keep every body amusing. The audio of this film will be released in first week of December.

2007/12/20 3:06:45 Right from the word go, it is literally Raghava Lawrence who runs the show. He has handled the direction, music, story, screenplay, choreography etc. In addition, he also plays a major role in the film – as that of Nagarjuna’s brother.
Lawrence has also given himself a good introduction scene, on par with the hero. He is also seen in almost every frame, from start to finish. Lawrence also plays the comedy part - there are no comedians in the film.
When you are on a roll, you are on a roll. It all comes together, things fall in place and you have a great time. Something that is happening to Sourav Ganguly nowadays. Someone in Kollywood too is having a jolly good time these days. Guess who, a very familiar face, Lollu Sabha….. now you know, Santhanam.
At present he cannot ask for more out of his career. From the small screen Lollu to the big time Lollu with the biggest stars of Kollywood, the giant leap has happened quite soon. The first time he got noticed on the big screen was in Manmadhan, then in Vallavan, along came Rendu and he was raising quite a few laughs combining well with the comedy king Vadivelu.
Then came the big break, in a star movie. Kreedom; it was crucial for him to make a mark and he did not fail to do so. That was it we guess, opportunities have not started coming his way since. A good performance in a star movie got him another, Azhagiya Tamil Magan and now he has yet another biggie, with Vikram in Kanthaswamy.
Well, he is not far from cementing his position in Tamil cinema as one of the regulation comedians, inevitable to a movie. Now, Vadivelu and Vivek will have company at the top slot with one more contender for the lead comedians spot. It is one thing to do small comic capers and quite another to take full responsibility of a comedy track which can be crucial to any movie's box office performance. With good response for his comic acts in Ajith's latest Billa and a full fledged lead role in director Simbu Devan's Arai En 305 il Kadavul, Santhanam is not far off from graduating to that level.
