Civil Supplies Minister D Sridhar Babu has assured that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy would do justice to Telangana region by allotting suitable berths in the next cabinet expansion.
Talking to media persons after launching `Subhojanam’ programme at Gosha Hospital in the district, Sridhar Babu expressed confidence that Chief Minister would do justice to SC/ST communities by giving them proper representing them in the Cabinet and remove the perception in their minds that his government was adopting anti-Dalit policies.
Responding to the ouster of Dr P Shankar Rao, he said that he was removed from the Cabinet due to some unavoidable circumstances.
Hailing the Subhojanam programme, where meals would be provided at Rs 8 and breakfast at Rs 5 for patients in the hospital, the Minister said that he would make efforts to implement the scheme at all government hospitals in the State.
Condemning the desecration of Dr B R Ambedkar statues in Amalapuram, he said that the government would take severe action against the guilty and directed the administration to reinstall the statues immediately. He appealed to the people in Konaseema region to observe restraint and help the administration and police maintain peace and law and order. (INN)

Talking to media persons, Sridhar Babu said the JAC must consider deferment of employees’ general strike as Congress president Sonia Gandhi, who has to take a crucial decision on Telangana state formation, was yet to recover from the operation that she underwent in the US. Until Sonia Gandhi joins active politics, he asked the Telangana leaders to defer their agitations towards statehood, he stated.
Sridhar Babu said there was no need to suspect the commitment of Telangana Congress leaders on the separate statehood formation. Stating that there was no hidden agenda in Telangana Ministers attending duties and cabinet meetings, he said the Ministers are attending duties to protect the interests of party. Reiterating that Telangana state formation was more important, he said the welfare of Telangana people was also equally important for the ministers.

2011/9/22 4:14:41 Telangana agitation on Thursday took an ugly turn when some activists barged into the high-security J-Block of the State Secretariat and disrupted a press conference being addressed by three ministers.
Civil Supplies Minister T Sridhar Babu, Revenue Minister N Raghuveera Reddy and Tourism Minister Vatti Vasanth Kumar were addressing a joint press conference regarding the one rupee kilo rice scheme. However, as soon as the press conference began, employees associated with the Telangana Secretariat JAC barged into the conference hall raising 'Jai Telangana' slogans. They did not allow the ministers to speak on the subject.
Amidst pandemonium, Sridhar Babu tried to pacify the agitating employees. However, the employees argued that when thousands of employees were on the street by abstaining from their duties demanding statehood for Telangana, how he could attend his duties. Demanding his resignation, the T activists raised slogans against the Minister and the State Government.
"I was elected by the people for a period of five years and I'm a minister for the entire state. Therefore, how could I participate in the general strike?" the Minister asked. However, the T activists were not convinced with his reply and did not allow him to speak further. Bowing to their pressure, Sridhar Babu walked out of the press conference claiming that he too was in favour of Telangana State. His announcement was followed by loud applauds from the activists.
Although the altercation between the minister and the Telangana activists went on for over half-an-hour, but the security personnel did not intervene. Further, ministers too did not call the security persons to remove the Telangana activists from conference hall. However, it was only after Sridhar Babu expressed his solidarity with the on-going Sakala Janula Samme or the general strike and walked out of the conference hall, the activists dispersed. Ministers - Raghuveera Reddy and Vasanth Kumar remained silent throughout.

Pranahita-Chevalla pact not linked to Telangana: Sridhar Babu
2012/5/7 3:59:28 Hyderabad, May 7 (INN): Civil Supplies Minister D Sridhar Babu on Monday dismissed the allegations of opposition parties that the State Government has reached the pact with the Maharashtra Government for the construction of Pranahita-Chevella Project under the special package of backward areas development.
Talking to media persons at Congress Legislature Party office, Sridhar Babu said that there was no connection between the special package and Telangana State issue and the project was taken up to provide irrigation facility to seven districts in the region. He advised the opposition not to look the development projects with suspicion and criticise the government.
Sridhar Babu said that the government has taken up the project with an aim to provide irrigation facility to about 16.40 lakh acres in seven districts in the Telangana region.
Hailing Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy for the pact with Maharashtra Government, he said that 40 TMC of water under the project would be used to provide drinking water facility and 16 TMC would be provided to industries in the region. He said that the government was holding consultations with Transco officials to lift water from the project.
Stating that about 57 percent of funds have been sanctioned by Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, he said that government was making all efforts to get the National Project status to the project soon with the Centre.
Stating the Telangana Rashtra Samithi was against development in the region, he said that TRS wants to improve its numbers in the legislative bodies in the name of agitation. He also dismissed media reports that only MPs from the region were making efforts towards Telangana and Ministers and MLAs were not doing anything for the statehood. He said that all of them were making united efforts in the party towards achieving statehood for the region.

Subsidy on domestic gas will continue: Sridhar babu
2012/1/12 12:47:12 Civil Supplies Minister D Sridhar Babu on Thursday stated that there was no proposal to lift Rs 25 subsidy being given on the domestic gas cylinders. He said the State Government would continue to bear the burden.
Talking to media persons after emerging out of Cabinet Sub-committee meeting held to monitor the prices of essential commodities at the Secretariat, Sridhar Babu said that the government would continue the subsidy and condemned the reports that appeared in a section of media that the government might drop the subsidy due to heavy burden on the exchequer. He said the government would continue subsidies on pulses and take firm steps for containing skyrocketing prices of essential commodities.
The minister also took serious note on YSR Congress president Jagan Mohan Reddy's allegations that the State Government has totally failed to implement the schemes of former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy. Stating that the government has continued all the schemes effectively, he asked Jagan Mohan Reddy to disclose the details of scheme which has been dropped.
Sridhar Babu also criticized Telangana Rashtra Samithi chief K Chandrasekhar Rao for allowing Jagan’s deeksha on farmers issue in Telangana region without making his stand clear on statehood issue. 2011/9/13 8:04:08 Tension prevailed at Mahamuttaram in Karimnagar town when the Congress activists tried to burn the effigy of Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao in protest against his comments on Civil Supplies Minister D Sridhar Babu. While the Congress activists were about to burn KCR’s effigy at Telangana chourasta, TRS mahila wing activists too reached the spot and consequently, both the groups ended up having a heated argument.
The TRS activists warned of serious consequences if the Congress activists burn KCR’s effigy. In the melee, one TRS activist snatched and took away the effigy. However, with the intervention of the police, the groups were pacified and the situation was brought under control.

Babu will have a tough time campaigning in Telangana as the sensitive 'separate Telangana' issue is likely to crop up at every place he goes now. Mohan Babu has been accused of possessing assigned lands belonging to a Dalit. The youth Govardhan from Chandragiri mandal has accused that Mohan Babu is in possession of assigned land, which is in his name. He said that the land is close to Mohan Babu’s school Sri Vidya Nikethan.

Pradesh Congress Committee president D Srinivas on Thursday directed all the MLAs and Council Members of the Party to attend the two-day Session of the Legislature to be convened on June 4.
According to sources, the PCC chief directed all members to attend the Legislature meeting at 12 to discuss the election of Speaker and Deputy Speaker posts.
The meeting will also elect the Legislative Council Chairman in the evening session.
Meanwhile, the state government issued notification for the election of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker.
Earlier, since the appointment of Kiran Kumar Reddy as Chief Minister, Deputy Speaker Nadendla Manohar has been discharging responsibilities as Speaker of Assembly.

Taking cue from the 87-year-old Gandhian, T-JAC chief Prof M Kodandaram on Monday announced that he will stage a sit-in hunger fast in order to pressurize the Government on a Statehood for Telangana.
Talking to media at the JAC Office here, Prof Kodandaram said that they had waited enough on the issue of bifurcation of the State.
Ridiculing Civil Supplies Minister D Sridhar Babu’s call to defer the general strike slated to commence on September 6 because of Sonia Gandhi’s health condition, he said there was no question of postponing the strike.
He said the Centre should create the Telangana state by the end of this year. He cautioned that they were running out of patience and they would intensify their agitation if no concrete action was forthcoming.

2011/6/27 9:22:01 The state government has, on all accounts, put off taking a decision on whether to increase bus fares of APSRTC.
A Cabinet Sub-Committee meeting is underway on whether to increase the bus fares, at the time of filing this report.
A decision is expected to be announced shortly as the government is undecided about it.
Before making their way to the Cabinet Sub-Committee meeting, Ministers Bosta Satyanarayana, Duddilla Sridhar Babu and Komatireddy Venkata Reddy met Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy who assured them to consider the already burdened commoner during the meeting.
The state government is already bearing a subsidy burden of Rs 191 crore, (Rs 25 on an LPG cylinder).
The Chief Minister is said to have told the Ministers that an alternative mechanism would be evolved not to further burden the common man, according to Sridhar Babu who spoke to media persons informally.
In view of rise in petroleum products including diesel oil, the burden of which the RTC has increased. Besides, the RTC is also running in losses and the fare increase is imminent.
In the light of these developments, the RTC fares would also be increased and Mr Sridhar Babu said that all factors would be taken into account before the said hike is affected considering the plight of the commuters as another dose of increase in petroleum products recently had already burdened the commoner.
“Before affecting the increase of cited fares a consensus would be evolved,” maintained the minister.
The Ministers are, at the time of filing this report, engaged in a meeting of the Ministers’ Sub-Committee which would evolve an opinion for an agreeable fare hike.(INN)
