Court rejects Srilakshmi's plea



IAS officer Srilakshmi who was arrested in Obulapuram illegal mining cases and released on bail few days ago was asked by High Court to surrender before CBI court before Friday evening. However, she has approached Supreme Court appealing to extend her bail period. But, Supreme Court has refused to intervene in High Court's decision. Hence, she has to surrender before CBI court by today evening.

    Court rejects Gali, Srilakshmi's plea to transfer bail petitions

    2012/4/28 7:11:05 Hyderabad, April 28 (INN): The CBI Special Court at Nampally on Saturday dismissed the petition of mining baron Gali Janardhan Reddy and suspended IAS officer Y Srilakshmi to transfer their bail petitions to the Second Additional Special Court as the predecessor judge B Nagamaruthi Sarma had already heard the bail plea in part.

    It may be mentioned that Justice Nagamaruthi Sarma has been transferred to another CBI court and he was replaced by Justice A Pullaiah.

    While dismissing their appeals, the court has adjourned the hearing on bail petitions of Gali Janardhan Reddy to May 5 and Srilakshmi to May 2.

    Noted criminal advocate Ram Jethmalani appeared in the court to argue for Gali Janardhan Reddy's bail petition. However, the CBI sought more time to file counter petition on Gali's bail petition as additional solicitor did not turn up.

    Directing the CBI to file counter petition, the court adjourned Gali's bail petition to May 5.

    2012/3/12 6:26:51 The Supreme Court on Monday adjourned the hearing on bail petition of suspended IAS officer Y Srilakshmi, an accused in the illegal mining scam, to April 2.

    The apex court while posting the bail petition of Srilakshmi, directed the CBI to file charge-sheet in connection with the case before it by March 31. Earlier, the CBI said that it would file supplementary charge sheet against Srilakshmi before March 31.

    Presently, Srilakshmi is lodged in the Chanchalguda Women’s Prison after her bail granted by the Special CBI Court was quashed by the Andhra Pradesh High Court. Srilakshmi was arrested by the CBI on November 28 last year in the illegal mining case of Obulapuram Mining Corporation. (INN)

    Court rejects Jayalalitha plea

    2011/11/4 1:31:00 IANS) The Supreme Court Friday rejected Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa's plea challenging a Bangalore court order asking her to appear again to answer questions relating to a Rs.66 crore disproportionate assets case.

    In a partial brether, however, an apex court bench of Justice Dalveer Bhandari and Justice Deepak Misra permitted her plea for another date to appear before the trial court as the scheduled date of Nov 8 was not convenient to her.

    The case relates to Jayalalithaa's first term as chief minister from 1991 to 1996.

    SC rejects Srilakshmi's bail petition

    2012/4/2 2:17:51 The Supreme Court on Monday rejected the bail petition of suspended IAS officer Y Srilakshmi, the accused in illegal mining case of Obulapuram Mining Company owned by former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhan Reddy.

    The apex court while rejecting bail petition directed her to appeal in the CBI Special Court.

    The court observed that it could not take any decision at this stage as the CBI has filed chargesheet against Srilakshmi in the case. The apex court also directed the CBI Special Court to take into consideration the High Court orders before sanctioning bail to Srilakshmi.

    Though Srilakshmi’s counsel contended that Section 409 (criminal breach of trust) does not apply and she could be released as she had been in judicial remand for more than 60 days, the CBI opposed the same.

    The CBI had been opposing bail petition on the grounds that it was yet to complete its investigation and has filed a chargesheet against the IAS officer last month. (INN)

    Gali to celebrate Pongal in jail

    2012/1/12 7:19:44 Illegal Mining king Gali Janardhan Reddy after celebrating his Birthday in Chanchalguda Jail recently, is preparing to celebrate Pongal festival next in the same premises. Nampally Court has extended his judicial custody up to 25th of this month rejecting his bail plea.

    Gali's advocate has pleaded before the court to sanction bail to his client assuring that he will not flee away from the country, but the court has rejected his plea and extends Gali's custody. The court has handed over the copies of charge sheet filed against him and his brother Srinivasa Reddy by CBI and adjourned the case to 25th of January.

    At the same time the court also adjourned the case filed by IAS Officer Srilakshmi to 24th, who requests the court to sanction special category cell in the jail. Srilakshmi has filed her petition through video conference.

    SC to hear Srilakshmi's bail plea on Feb 21

    2012/1/16 11:55:13 The Supreme Court on Monday posted the hearing on bail petition of suspended IAS officer Y Srilakshmi to February 21. Srilakshmi was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation in the illegal iron ore mining case of the Obulapuram Mining Corporation.

    While issuing these directions, the apex court directed the CBI to file the chargesheet of illegal mining case before February 15. The bench said that the CBI should come along with the chargesheet for next hearing on February 21.

    The Srilakshmi’s counsel sought bail citing her deteriorating health condition. However, the CBI opposed the bail stating that Srilakshmi's release would hamper the progress of case, which is at critical stage and she might tamper with the evidence, if released on bail. The CBI’s counsel also contended that Srilakshmi was submitting fake health certificates to get bail.

    Earlier, Srilakshmi surrendered before the Special CBI court after the Supreme Court rejected her petition to stay the High Court order, which cancelled her bail, sanctioned by CBI court. (INN)

    2012/2/21 1:28:25 The Supreme Court on Tuesday adjourned to Feb 27 the hearing on the bail petition of suspended IAS officer Y Srilakshmi, who was arrested in connection with the illegal mining case of Obulapuram Mining Corporation (OMC) owned by former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhan Reddy.

    The apex court adjourned Srilakshmi petition after hearing arguments and counter arguments from both sides.

    Srilakshmi filed petition in the apex court challenging the state High Court orders rejecting her bail granted by the Special CBI court. Presently, Srilakshmi is lodged in the Chanchalguda Women Prison.

    Srilakshmi gets bail in OMC case

    2011/12/2 14:28:45 The CBI Special Court on Friday granted bail to the suspended IAS Officer Y Srilakshmi.

    While granting bail, the Special Court judge Naga Maruthi Sharma asked Srilakshmi to present a personal surety of two individuals and also bond for Rs 25,000. Asking her to surrender the passport, the judge directed Srilakshmi not to leave the State without informing the probing agency any time. She was also advised not to intimidate any witnesses or tamper with the evidence.

    Srilakshmi is accused No 3 in the illegal mining case of OMC.

    Earlier, the probing agency opposed bail petition of Srilakshmi stating that she might tamper with the evidence by influencing witnesses. The CBI also claimed that the medical reports submitted by her were false. (INN)

    Court rejects bail plea of Kanimoli

    2012/2/27 7:11:13 New Delhi, Feb 27 (INN): The Supreme Court on Monday posted the hearing on bail petition of suspended IAS officer Y Srilakshmi, an accused in the Obulapuram Mining Corporation illegal mining scam, to March 12.

    The apex court adjourned Srilakshmi petition after hearing the from both sides. Meanwhile, the CBI has submitted vital information in connection with illegal mining scam to the apex court.

    Earlier, the Supreme Court has directed the probing agency to file a charge-sheet before it by March 31. Following the court's directions, the CBI said that it would file supplementary charge sheet against Srilakshmi before March 31.

    Presently, Srilakshmi is lodged in the Chanchalguda Women Prison after he bail, granted by the Special CBI Court, was quashed by the Andhra Pradesh High Court.

    2012/4/17 2:14:23 Hyderabad, April 17 (INN): The CBI Special Court on Tuesday adjourned the bail plea of suspended IAS officer Y Srilakshmi, who was arrested in the illegal mining case of Obulapuram Mining Company, to April 19.

    The court adjourned Srilakshmi's petition as the CBI counsel sought time to file counter petition in this connection. In her petition, Srilakshmi sought bail on the grounds that a charge sheet has already been filed against her and the court was in receipt of all records pertaining to the case. She also requested the court to consider her fragile health condition for granting bail.

    The court also adjourned the bail petition of senior bureaucrat B P Acharya, the prime accused in APIIC-Emaar scam to April 19, following CBI's appeal seeking more time to file counter petition.

    In his second bail petition, Acharya said that as the vice-chairman and managing director of the APIIC, he took all the decisions bona fide in the interest of development, execution and expeditious completion of the integrated project. He said that none of his decisions resulted in financial loss to the corporation and at any rate the decisions were taken not in view of any design or conspiracy as alleged by the CBI in the charge sheet.

    Acharya gets breather, court rejects CBI plea

    2012/3/9 21:50:01 The Central Bureau of Investigation on Friday appealed to the CBI Special Court to direct the Centre to sanction permission for prosecution of senior IAS officers - L V Subrahmanyam and B P Acharya, both accused in the APIIC-Emaar scam.

    However, the court rejected the probing agency’s plea stating that there was no provision in law to issue such directions to the Centre. Earlier, the court directed the CBI to take prior permission from the Centre to prosecute the accused IAS officers. The court also asked the CBI how it could accept the charge-sheet without sanction from the government.

    The CBI said that it had written a letter to the Centre seeking permission to prosecute the tainted IAS officers. The CBI counsel appealed to the court to extend remand of BP Acharya and Koneru Prasad.

    After hearing the arguments of CBI counsel, the special court extended the remand of BP Acharya and Koneru Prasad to March 16. (INN)

She was arrested in connection with the illegal mining case of Obulapuram Mining Corporation owned by former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhan Reddy.

    Srilakshmi was produced before the CBI Special Court following expiry of her remand on Thursday. Following court's directions, the officials shifted her to Chanchalguda Women's Jail.

    Srilakshmi has been named as the sixth accused in the OMC illegal mining case. Earlier, the court dismissed the bail petition of Srilakshmi while granting bail to Gali Janardhan Reddy.

    Srilakshmi goes to jail after SC refuses stay

    2012/1/6 12:57:54 Senior IAS officer, Y Srilakshmi on Friday surrendered before a city court after the Supreme Court upheld the CBI special court orders refusing bail to her in the OMC case.

    Sri Lakshmi was remanded to judicial custody till January 12 and she will be lodged in Chanchalguda jail.

    Earlier, hearing the petition filed by Srilakshmi challenging the CBI court order, the apex court gave the ruling and posted the petition next hearing on January 16.

    With the apex court refusing to give stay orders, Srilakshmi would have to surrender before the CBI court before January 6.

    Earlier, the High Court concurred with the argument of the CBI counsel that the IAS official who was very influential could influence the investigations and also threaten the witnesses and also agreed that it was not proper to release Srilakshmi on bail when the investigations were on and all three other prime accused were in jail.

    Srilakshmi is the accused No-4 in the OMC mining case which had caused Rs 5,100 crore loss to the state exchequer. (INN)

    Srilakshmi files counter to stay on bail

    2011/12/26 10:02:02 Suspended senior IAS officer Y Srilakshmi on Monday filed a counter petition in the CBI Special Court in connection with CBI’s petition seeking cancellation of her bail.

    Srilakshmi filed the counter petition following directions from the special court which asked her counsel to file a petition in this connection before December 26. The court would take up the petition for hearing on December 28.

    Srilakshmi is the only accused in the OMC case who has been granted conditional bail.

    After Srilakshmi's release on bail, former APMDC director V D Rajagopal too contended that he deserved bail as he was a retired official and in no way could tamper with the evidences. He was granted bail, but the court stayed the same after a few hours.

    Later, the High Court on Monday cancelled his bail petition with probing agency raised strong objection stating that he might tamper with evidence and influence the witnesses. (INN)

    2011/11/30 12:29:19 Senior IAS officer Y Srilakshmi, who was arrested in the illegal mining case of Obulapuram Mining Corporation and remanded to 3-day CBI custody, on Wednesday moved a bail petition in the CBI Special Court at Nampally.

    Admitting the petition, the court has directed the Central Bureau of Investigation to file its counter. The court has adjourned the hearing on Srilakshmi bail petition to Thursday.

    Earlier, in a separate petition, Srilakshmi has appealed the court to grant her Special Category Prisoner status in the Chanchalguda Women's Jail. The matter has been posted for hearing on December 2.

    Meanwhile, the CBI has grilled the senior bureaucrat on the second day at its office in Koti over her alleged role in mining scam. (INN)

    2011/9/18 23:22:06 CBI has presented both Gali Brothers before Nampally court on Monday morning since their 6day custody period was over. Court rejecting the bail plea of Gali Brothers remands them up to October 3rd. Therefore Gali brothers were shifted to Chanchalguda jail a short while ago. CBI has appealed the court to extend the custody of Gali Brothers for 9 more days, but the court adjourned the case.

    Gali turns emotional:
    Gali Janardhan Reddy, when saw his advocate Lalith Uday at Nampally court all of a sudden he become very emotional and touched his feet as if requesting him to bail him out. However, Lalith also fails to convince the court to grant bail for Gali Brothers.

    SC rejects Jagan’s plea to stop CBI enquiry

    2011/7/22 4:00:47 Supreme Court today has rejected the 3 petitions filed by YS.Jagan Mohan Reddy. He appealed the Court to give stay on High Court orders which has permitted CBI to enquiry his properties. SC said it can’t intervene at this point, but assured him to hear his arguments incase CBI reports against his companies.     Srilakshmi case adjourned to Jan 2

    2011/12/28 17:19:38 CBI special court on Wednesday adjourned to January 2, the hearing on CBI’s petition seeking cancellation of bail to senior IAS officer Y Srilakshmi.

    CBI counsel told the court that that Srilakshmi was not cooperating with the investigation agency and she had also submitted fake certificates on her health condition to escape the investigation procedure.

    He also charged Srilakshmi with trying to mount pressure on officials in the department to tamper with the evidence.

    Dismissing all the charges, Srilakshmi’s counsel said that CBI has no evidence to prove that her client has acted in favour of Obulapuram Mining Corporation (OMC) in allotting lease permits.

    After hearing arguments from both sides, the court adjourned the hearing on case to January 2, 2012.

    The court also adjourned to December 30, the hearing on bail petitions of former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhan Reddy and former OMC Managing director B V Srinivasa Reddy, who were involved in the mining scam. (INN)
