TRS and OU JAC warn Jyaprakash Narayana

    2010/12/10 2:05:44

The Lok Satta chief Jayaprakash Narayana is now the target of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi and the OU JAC.

The reason is the comments made by Narayana in the assembly today. JP alleged that the TRS is extorting money in the name of separate Telangana movement. JP also took objection to the proposal by the government to consider lifting of the cases against the students booked for violence in the T agitation.

JP said that those students who only have some minor cases against them can be let off but not those students who have criminal cases against them.

The TRS and the OU JAC is furious at the statement of JP. They have announced that they will not allow JP to move anywhere in Telangana and even in Hyderabad. The police has increased security at the residence of JP as a precautionary measure.

Tri-valley students transfered to other schools

2011/10/22 0:38:42 US authorities have approved the transfer of 435 Indian students of the Tri-Valley University to other institutions, indicating some progress in addressing the plight of nearly 1,800 Indian students affected by its closure.

They were among more than a thousand students, who were being considered for transfer to other universities, US officials told Indian embassy representatives Friday during a meeting to discuss the issues relating to Indian students of the allegedly "sham" California-based university.

They also informed the embassy that 145 Indian students were denied transfers and about an equal number were issued with Notices of Intention to Deny (NOIDs). The remaining cases of transfer are still under examination, according to an Indian embassy press note.

The cases of Indian students have been examined individually after evaluating all the information provided by the students, officials said and advised that students who have received NOIDs should reply to the notices in stipulated time with required / additional information/documents.

Officials of the State and Homeland Security departments as also United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and its investigative arm Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) attended the meeting.

Indian officials in turn impressed upon US officials that the Indian students of Tri-Valley University have undergone hardship since the closure of the University and that their cases should be viewed with understanding.

The Indian embassy is continuing its efforts with US authorities for addressing the plight of TVU students, the press note said.

In another positive development, sources said, US officials had also assured that in case anybody decides to opt out of the transfer process and go back to India and apply afresh from there , their cases would be considered on the basis of the quality of the fresh applications without any reference to the TVU situation.

TVU president Susan Xiao-Ping Su, 41, was indicted in May by a federal grand jury on allegations of visa fraud and money laundering to the tune of $3.2 million by issuing visa-related documents to students in exchange for "tuition and fees".

Some 85 percent of TVU students were Indian, mostly from Andhra Pradesh.

2007/8/11 3:39:01 The state government is reportedly going slow on taking action against the MIM. The police had booked cases against three MIM MLAs and other party activists for attacking Taslima and damaging furniture at the Press club.

But the police have booked cases against the Majlis leaders only on minor charges. The attack was of a very serious nature and they even went to the extent of trying to harm her physically. The MIM has a considerable hold on the minorities in the state and the city in particular. Character and credibility important: Jagan

    2011/9/22 0:01:20

YS.Jagan Mohan Reddy's Odarpu Yatra is continuing for the 30th day. Today he starts his Yatra from Challapalli in Krishna district, where he told the students that character and credibility is more important than anything else. He said students are the backbones of the country. He didn't pass any comments on state or Central Congress party during this schedule.

During the last few days there was noticeable change in his speeches. He is more concentrating on TDP and its president Nara Chandra babu Naidu than the Congress party in his speeches now.

Ever since, he returned from New Delhi after meeting Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, he softens his language on Congress party and in return, CBI also slows down on his cases, as if it got instructions from Center not to go ahead with his cases. DL. Ravindra Reddy, the minister for health has denied that CBI slows down its investigation and interrogation on Jagan's cases. He said CBI is busy with Gali's case and that's why it appears slow down of Jagan's cases.

But, all this proves that the Congress party has really used CBI to harass Jagan Mohan Reddy and it was stopped only after he surrenders before it.

Let us see, whether this young leader will be able stick to his word or one day he also merges his party into Congress party like Chiranjeevi did few weeks ago.
