Former Minister J C Diwakar Reddy on Wednesday termed the on-going consultation on Telangana state formation as 'waste of time’.
Talking to media persons at Congress Legislature Party Office, Diwakar Reddy said that the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh has clearly announced that the Andhra Pradesh would not be divided without reaching consensus on the controversial Telangana statehood issue. Even after the Prime Minister's statement, he said there was no point in continuing the discussion on Telangana.
The former minister said that the discussion on whether or not the Centre would constitute second States Reorganization Commission has become irrelevant now, especially after the Prime Minister's statement. He expressed confidence that the Congress leaders, who quit the party on Telangana issue, would rejoin soon.
Diwakar Reddy also said that there would be no impact on the State even after Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati introduces a resolution in the assembly to divide her State into four parts. He said the decision of the Prime Minister was important for the division of a state. (INN)

The firms have been told to put in place a policy by Dec 27 to buy back used lamps from consumers.

As per government estimates, there are over one million CFLs in use in the state and the volume is increasing every year.
As part of an energy saving drive, the state launched the Atal Bijli Bachat Yojana in November 2008 in which a pack of four CFLs - two each of 15 watt and 20 watt - were provided to 1.65 million consumers free of cost.

The release of Jimmy has been pushed back from April 18 to mid-May. The trade buzz is that Sahara, which was supposed to release Mimoh
Chakraborty's debut film, backed out at the last minute. But producer Nawman Malik denies this, saying the film was postponed to avoid a clash with the star-studded Tashan, set to open on April 25.
"We would have been sandwiched between a trio of biggies, U Me Aur Hum and Krazzy 4 which released last week, and Tashan and weren't getting the right chain of theatres," informs Malik.
He admits that he was in talks with Sahara and the deal didn't work out.
"I was getting a better offer from another corporate house," he asserts but refuses to name it saying he will make an official announcement in a couple of days.
Too busy Quiz him on why Mimoh didn't come for the music release and he points out that even Harman Baweja stayed away from the unveiling of Love Story 2050.
"What's the big deal," he shrugs. "Today, youngsters don't want to waste time attending parties. Mimoh was shooting for Loot in Bangkok. But the rest of the cast, including his father Mithun was there."
Nawman is planning another film with Mimoh titled Mausam but he won't be repeating his Jimmy director Raj N Sippy. He says, "I've couple of names in my mind. It'll have one more actor besides Mimoh."
Hema Malini's role has been scrapped from Milan Luthria's film, Hat Trick
Hema Malini who was supposed to be part of Milan Luthria's forthcoming film Hat Trick, opposite Naseeruddin Shah will not be part of the film after all.
The decision was taken by Luthria when he developed the script and realised that the role fell short of the actress' calibre.
"When the final script was complete, I realised that the character was not an integral part of the story. We wanted to develop the character more and give it a proper shape. When the scriptwriter and I discussed the issue we decided to edit the entire character from the film," says Luthria.
When he informed Hema about the development, the actress did not seem to mind. "She appreciated the fact that I didn't waste her valuable time and came clear on what the film demands," he says.
But doesn't it reflect badly on him to sign and then drop an actress like Hema Malini from his project? "I object to the term 'drop' when it comes to Hemaji. She is far too big to be dropped from any project. When you sign Hemaji, people expect to see more of her on screen. I didn't want to waste her. I spoke to her at length about the problem and she understood my situation. Moreover, we had not announced Hemaji presence in the film formally," says Milan.

They searched for few voices and finally ended up with the voice of Kanika.

Meanwhile, junior doctors' representative Aditya said that the junior doctors were earlier demanding payment of Rs 31,000 - Rs 33,000. However, in view of additional financial burden that the State might have to suffer, the demand has been reduced by Rs 2,000 for all the MBBS students. The junior doctors also denied that their agitation was political in nature. They accused the government of being non-responsive to their demands and also to the public health.

2011/5/30 22:18:37 Chandrababu Naidu for the first time has come to ABN News Channel studio to face its MD Vemuri Radha Krishna questions. Brief details of his interview:
“Indeed, I had been misguided with former US president Bill Clinton, Britain PM Tony Blair and Bill Gates patting for my vision-2020. I thought that I am going in right direction, but it is proved wrong later. My aim is to make our state as role model for other states in the country. That’s why, I have ignored the suggestions of my party and proceeds with my own plans.”
“I have never stated that agriculture is waste. Some sections of media have misinterpreted my statement. Actually, I suggested the farmers to see their children go for higher studies to improve their living standards and of course many of them have understood my suggestion and that’s why, several software engineers are seen in their families now. Indeed, we have concentrated on education than on agriculture. We have opened hundreds of Engineering and Medical colleges across the state with which the state scenario has changed positively.”
“I know, some people from my relatives-circle got employment in Congress Government only because they speak against me all the time. But, we won’t spare them if they do the same to our party.”
“Lokesh has never shown interest in joining active politics. He has his own businesses to do. Jr.NTR also is too young to talk about politics and he also has his own career. I am physically and mentally healthy. So, discussing about my successor at this point is just waste of time. More over, whoever likes to take the party reins certainly need the people’s approval otherwise, merely being the family member will not be a special qualification.”
“We are going move no-confidence motion against Kiran Kumar Reddy Government in the coming Assembly sessions. Hence, it is Jagan to make his stand clear. Several times he has told the media that, the Government is running on his mercy and he can bring it down any time he wants to. So, I demand him to show his strength and submit a letter to Governor withdrawing support to Congress Government, if he is really honest with what he says to people.”
Lawyers urge police personnel to join general strike
2011/8/6 3:38:56 Telangana Lawyers Joint Action Committee on Saturday urged the police personnel to join in the proposed general strike from August 17 to push for a separate Telangana state.
The appeal by the lawyers comes at a time when the state government is engaged in talks with the various employees’ unions’ leaders, trying to get them to reconsider their decision of going on the mass strike across the region.
The Telangana Lawyers JAC appealed to the police personnel from Telangana to join the strike and express solidarity with the people of the region. The TL JAC members visited every police station in Hyderabad and presented roses to the police personnel and requested them to join the strike.
Besides this, the ‘carrot-and-stick’ policy of the government can be gauged by the threat of invoking the Essential Services Maintenance Act.
The talks with the Telangana employees Joint Action Committee failed on Friday as the TE JAC boycotted the meeting with the group of Ministers alleging dual standards of the state government.
The employees demanded with drawl of ESMA and security forces from the region as a precondition for the talks.(INN)
