MP injured in road accident


Srikakulam MP Killi Krupa Rani was injured in a road accident on NH-5 highway at Bogapuram in Vizianagaram district, on yesterday evening. Her car was hit by a passing lorry. She and seven others who were traveling in the car sustained minor injuries and were rushed to Care Hospital in Visakhapatnam. Doctors said that all of them were ok.

    Six injured as RTC bus rams into vehicles

    2011/10/15 9:07:38 At least six people were injured, two of them seriously, when a RTC bus lost control and hit many vehicles on the busy Banjara Hills Road here on Saturday evening.

    The accident happened when the RTC bus - AP-10 Z-5981 of HCU depot lost control near Pension Office on Banjara Hills Road No 12 and hit one Omni Van, one Maruti 800, one auto-rickshaw and three bikes before coming to a halt. The bus was coming from Kondapur and going toward Koti. The driver fled from the spot after the accident. Source said that the driver was hired by the RTC management due to the on-going general strike.

    The seriously injured persons were shifted to a private hospital for treatment. Banjara Hills police registered a case and are investigating. (INN)

    Minister died in road accident

    2011/5/23 3:20:44 The newly formed AIADMK government in Tamilnadu had a bad start with one of its Minister M. Mariyam Pitchaih (61) killed in a road accident. Recently, he was sworn in as Environment Minister of the state. He and another Minister Shivapathi were arriving to participate in the oath taking ceremony of the party MLAs scheduled for Monday. While, on their way to Chennai from Tiruchchi, they met with accident near Perembhudhur in which Minister Pitchaih was spot dead and Shivapathi was seriously injured. However, he is said to be out of danger.

    Three killed, six injured in road mishap

    2012/1/27 10:12:11 In a ghastly road mishap, three persons were killed on the spot and six others injured at Bakarapeta in Siddampeta mandal in Kadapa district on Friday.

    According to police, the accident occurred when a jeep had a head-on collision with a tractor near Bakarapeta in the wee hours of Friday. The bodies have been shifted to the Government Hospital in Kadapa for post-mortem. The identities of the victims are yet to be ascertained. The condition of all the injured is stated to be serious.

    According to police, the mishap took place due to negligent driving of jeep driver, against whom a case has already been registered. (INN)

    Two killed, five injured in road accidents

    2011/9/1 9:21:00 Two persons have been killed and five others injured in separate cases of road accidents in the Cyberabad Police limits.

    One person died on the spot and three others suffered injuries when the Tata Ace vehicle they were travelling in was hit by a speeding RTC bus coming from opposite direction. The accident occurred in the wee hours of Thursday between Nampally and Nagaram village in the limits of Ghatkesar police station. According to police, the deceased, B Madhukar alias Raju was driving the Tata Ace vehicle and he was returning after delivering a Ganesh idol in Ramannapet village when the accident occurred.

    All the three injured persons have been shifted to the Gandhi Hospital for treatment and their condition is said to be out of danger. Ghatkesar police registered a case of negligent driving against the RTC driver and started investigations.

    In another accident, two scooterists suffered head injuries when the motor-cycle they were riding skidded near Nagaram Road on Wednesday night. According to Keesra police, the scooterists, 24-year-old Sharad Chandra and his friends Mohan Kumar, were immediately rushed to a nearby private hospital where Sharad succumbed to injuries in the wee hours of Thursday. Mohan is still undergoing treatment and is said to be out of danger, Keesra police said. (INN)

    Komatireddy's son killed in road accident

    2011/12/20 17:16:50 Former minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy's son Pratik Reddy and two others died in a tragic road accident on the Outer Ring Road near Kollur of Medak district here on Tuesday evening.

    Pratik met with the accident when he along with three other friends - Suchit Reddy, Chandra Reddy and Arva Reddy were passing through the Outer Ring Road in a Skoda car at around 5 pm on Tuesday. The car hit a road divider and fell off a bridge while they tried to save some sheep who suddenly came onto the road.

    Pratik, Suchit and Chandra died on the spot and Arva Reddy sustained grievous injuries. Arva's condition, who was rushed to a private hospital, is said to be critical.

    Pratik was studying B Tech first year from the CBIT. Venkat Reddy was in Delhi when the accident happened. (INN)

    Six killed, seven injured in road accident near Tirupati

    2012/4/26 3:14:01 Tirupati, April 26 (INN): At least six persons were killed on the spot and seven others injured when the Qualis they were travelling in rammed into a roadside tree near Mamandur in Renigunta mandal on Kadapa-Tirupati National Highway in the wee hours of Thursday.

    According to police, the victims have been identified as Venkateswarlu, Chennaiah, Buddaiah, Narayanamma, Alluraiah and car driver Ravi. All of them belonged to Prakasam district.

    The victims board the Qualis vehicle at Errabalem in Giddalur mandal in Ongole to attend a marriage in hill shrine Tirupati. It is suspected that the accident has occurred after the driver lost control on his vehicle while overtaking another vehicle at Mamandur and hit a roadside tree.

    The injured have been shifted to SVR Ruia Hospital in Tirupati and a few of them are said to be in a critical condition.

    Two killed in road accident

    2011/8/21 10:52:33 Two persons including a woman were killed in a gruesome road accident at at Lingojigudem in Choutuppal mandal in Nalgonda district in the wee hours of Sunday.

    The deceased, later identified as Manemma and Srinu, were daily labourers in a local factory and hailed from Kondanagulu village in Palamur mandal in Mahbubnagar district. They met with the accident when a speeding Volvo bus, proceeding from Visakhapatnam to Hyderabad, hit them while they were crossing the road.

    According to the police, Manemma died on the spot while Srinu succumbed to his injuries on the way to hospital. The police have registered a case and started investigations. (INN)

    Road accidents claim over 15,000 lives last year

    2012/3/1 6:58:03 Home Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy informed the House that 15,100 people were killed in road accidents during the year 2011 across the State.

    Replying to a question raised by TDP MLCs A Narsa Reddy, Ibrahim bin Abdullah Masqati and Dadi Veerabhadra Rao, she said that 42,869 accidents that took place in 2011 and 55,812 persons got injured. In the GHMC limits, 6,491 accidents took place in which 1,717 persons died and 6,144 persons were injured.

    She informed the House that certain steps like identification of accident prone areas on National Highways, State Highways and other roads, erection of speed breakers, dividers, radium stickers and zebra cross lines were being taken as road safety measures. (INN)

    2011/9/12 8:18:27 Minorities Welfare Minister Mohammed Ahmadullah has expressed anguish over the ghastly accident on the Outer Ring Road on Sunday morning in which the grand son of former MP late Mohammed Khaleel ur Rehman died and MP Mohammed Azharuddin's son Ayazuddin was critically injured.

    The Minister expressed his sympathies to former Azharuddin and wished for early and complete recovery of his son, who is undergoing treatment in a corporate hospital in the city. The Minister also spoke to the Congress leader Mohammed Khaleeq ur Rahman, whose son Ajmal ur Rehman died in the accident. He conveyed his sympathies to the grieved family members. (INN)

    30 injured as RTC bus overturns

    2011/9/15 4:34:26 At least 30 passengers suffered minor injuries when the RTC bus they were travelling in turned turtle near Borlam in Nizamabad district here on Thursday.

    According to report, the bus carrying mostly students overturned near Krishna Nagar tanda in Banswada mandal. About 65 passengers were on board when the accident happened. The local police say that the accident happened when the bus heading to Banswada from Hanumanjipeta. The bus driver took a sudden turn in order to save a speeding car coming from the opposite direction.

    Fortunately, all the passengers survived the accident with minor injuries. The injured passengers were rushed to Banswada Government hospital where they were treated as out-patients. (INN)

    2011/9/19 9:06:03 The Ramgopalpet police on Monday identified the deceased who were killed in a road accident near Sanjeevaiah Park.

    According to police, two persons - 23-year-old Bhaskar and 27-year-old Deepak Kumar Yadav, both residents of Secunderabad, died instantaneously after the bike they were riding was hit by a speeding Swift car near Sanjeevaiah Park late on Sunday night. The car has also turned turtle after the accident.

    The bodies were shifted to the Gandhi Hospital mortuary where they were identified on Monday. Police has registered a case and are investigating. (INN)

    2011/9/21 2:02:20 One auto-rickshaw driver was killed and several others injured when they were hit by a RTC bus after the driver lost control due to the failure of breaks.

    The mishap occurred on Wednesday morning at Krishna Nagar near Yousufguda crossroads. According to police, the bus driver lost control due to break failure and hit the auto-rickshaw and other vehicles parked on the roadside.

    According to police, the deceased has been identified as Mallesh. The police have shifted all injured to Osmania General Hospital and their condition is stated to be out of danger. The mishap took place when the RTC bus was heading towards Kondapur from Secunderabad.

    Irked over the incident, the local people stoned the bus. The bus driver went absconding after the accident from the scene.

    According to sources, the bus driver was hired on temporary basis due to the RTC employees participating in the general strike. The accident is believed to have occurred due to poor maintenance of bus and lack of understanding of driver of city traffic. Yousufguda police have registered a case. (INN)

    20 injured in bus-lorry collision

    2011/9/8 4:05:35 At least 20 persons sustained injuries when an APSRTC bus collided with a stationary lorry near Rampalli in Keesara mandal in Rangareddy district. The accident occurred in the wee hours of Thursday.

    The police said that the mishap took place when the RTC bus of Kushaiguda bus depot coming from Rampalli RTC colony in Kesara mandal to Secunderabad hit the stationary lorry laden with cement bags from the rear side. In the mishap, the front portion of bus was completely damaged.

    Most of the passengers were reportedly asleep when the accident occurred. The injured were immediately rushed to the Gandhi Hospital for treatment. The condition of three injured passengers is said to be critical.

    Police said the mishap took place due to bus driver’s negligence. However, police registered a case and started investigations. (INN)

    15 killed, 57 hurt in Maharashtra accident

    2011/11/28 8:37:33 (IANS) At least 15 people were killed and 57 injured early Monday when two private luxury buses collided in Maharashtra's Buldana district, police said.

    The accident took place around 3.30 a.m. on the Mehkar-Sultanpur stretch of the Aurangabad-Nagpur highway, around 300 km from here, when most passengers were sleeping.

    "The vehicles caught fire after the collision and at least 12 passengers were burnt in their seats," Mehkar Police Station head B.I. Suryawanshi told IANS.

    The injured, of whom 20 are reported to be serious, have been rushed to the Mehkar civil hospital.

    "The buses belonged to Royal Travels and Soni Travels. One of them was coming from Nagpur and going to Pune while the other was going to Nagpur," Suryawanshi said.

    Locals rushed to assist and helped shift the injured to hospital. The identity of the victims is being ascertained.

    The accident happened near Midhani Township when the auto-rickshaw carrying three passengers was hit by a CRPF bus coming from the opposite direction. Consequently, one person died on the spot and was later identified as Sai Kiran (30). The injured were rushed to the Osmania General Hospital for treatment.

    2011/10/27 8:08:27 Two students were killed and another suffered serious injuries when the bike they were riding on hit a road divider near Tadban.

    The accident occurred late on Wednesday night near Danamma Huts at Tadbun. According to Bahadurpura police, three students - Anand Davne, Satish P and Mahadev were riding on a same bike which skidded and hit a road divider. Anand and Satish died on the spot. Both of thme were aged around 15 years and were students of a private college at Narayanaguda. Another student Mahadev sustained serious injuries and undergoing treatments at a private hospital.

    In another accident, 26-year-old Rakesh died on the spot when the bike he was riding skidded near Pratap Singaram area here on Thursday. Rakesh, a resident of Krishna Nagar, met with the accident while he was returning to his home from Ghatkesar. (INN)

    27 die in Himachal bus accident

    2011/10/24 22:13:51 (IANS) At least 27 people were killed when a bus fell into a 1,000 foot deep gorge in Himachal Pradesh's Bilaspur district, officials said Tuesday.

    The accident happened Monday near Danoh, 150 km from here. As many as 25 people were injured.

    A bus carrying passengers from Bilaspur to Bandla had broken down. Another bus that was coming on the same route stopped to pick up the passengers of the bus.

    "Because of the darkness, the bus driver couldn't see the edge of the road. While the passengers were getting on to the bus it rolled down the hill and fell into a 1,000-foot deep gorge," Deputy Commissioner Ritesh Chauhan told IANS.

    Superintendent of Police Santosh Patial said most of the victims died on the spot.

    The rescue operation was still on, he added.

    The government has ordered an inquiry.

    Two injured in gas tanker mishap

    2011/8/30 11:25:56 Two persons sustained injuries when a gas tanker turned turtle near bypass junction on National Highway No 5 at Anakapalle in Visakhapatnam district on Tuesday.

    According to Anakapalle police, the gas tanker heading towards Visakhapatnam from Rajahmundry overturned near bypass junction at Anakapalle injuring the driver and cleaner of the tanker. Fortunately, a major mishap was averted as the gas in tanker was not leaked.

    Following the accident, the traffic came to standstill on the national highway and it took lot of time for the police to clear the road. The police diverted traffic on other routes to ease congestion. Both the injured have been shifted to the hospital for treatment and they are said to be stable. (INN)
