Few know that Celina Jaitely is a prankster and loves having fun on the sets. Recently while shooting for Love Has No Languages in New Zealand, the actress played a prank on debutant director Ken Khan and taught him few lines in Hindi.
It all happened when Khan and Celina were supposed to go for an informal party at a restaurant. Since most of the guests were Indians, Khan thought that it would be nice if he greeted them in Hindi. But little did he know that Celina would play a prank on him. Says Celina, "I taught him to speak Namaste! I told him that Indians say 'Namaste, tera baap chor hai.' I also told him that this was the best way to begin his speech particularly if he wanted to please people."
Well, when Ken was called on stage and he said, 'Namaste! Tera baap chor hai!' Celina says, "You should have seen the expression on the guests' face when Ken actually said that to them. They just were stunned and did not know how to react. His accent it sounded very funny. Of course, later I told the guests that it was a prank that I had played on him."
2012/2/25 4:48:16 Hyderabad, Feb 25 (INN): Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday demanded that the State Government create a separate ministry for the promotion of Telugu language.

He demanded that a separate ministry be created in the government for the focused growth and development of Telugu language.

Mumbai, Feb 17 (IANS) "English is a very funny language," figured Shah Rukh Khan when he sat down to give his son Aryan some lessons in the language.
"Teaching clauses and phrases to son, workout cancelled. Who made up these English rules... it's so much easier..the English on twitter and SMS," tweeted Shah Rukh, who is nevertheless fluent in the language.
While King Khan indirectly lauded the use of abbreviations and slangs in social networking mediums, megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who is currently in hospital for medical treatment, has often been amused by it.

End rhetoric on T, maintain brotherly love: LSP chief
2011/7/20 9:08:31 Lok Satta Party President Jayaprakash Narayan on Wednesday appealed to all political parties and leaders to refrain from indulging in senseless, reckless, and incendiary rhetoric on the demand for and against formation of a separate Telangana State.
Talking in terms of taking to the gun and forming suicide squads is simply unacceptable in a democratic polity which ensures space for all by guaranteeing liberty and universal adult franchise, said Dr Narayan.
The LSP chief recalled that “we are all brothers speaking the same language, sharing common history, culture and civilization for the last 5000 years. We have had the distinction of building a glorious republic unmatched in history. In a vast country with mind-boggling diversity, differences among people are but natural. People should strive to resolve such differences within the bounds of the Constitution, decency and respect for human liberty and dignity.
“By indulging in anti-national rhetoric, some of the chief players in Andhra Pradesh politics are harming the collective interests of all Telugu-speaking people. Resort to the language of extremism, militancy and terrorism is unbecoming of political parties.
‘You cannot threaten people residing in any part of India on grounds of origin, caste, religion or language.
“Self-styled leaders should acknowledge their folly and restrain themselves from vitiating the situation. If they don’t mend their behavior, their party leaders should reprimand and rein them in. If they too fail in their job, the Government should prosecute peddlers of violence, hatred and prejudice.”(INN)
While many our glamour dolls were exclusively imported from north, some others were deported from neighboring Kerala and Karnataka states to fulfill the gap left by Telugu girls, who do not want to join the Telugu film industry.
Goan beauty Ileana said that, though she is enjoying the stardom here in Tollywood, she still needs to work hard to make her impact on it. She said language remain a barrier in her way. Though, she understands and frame small sentences in Telugu, she said still she is afraid to speak in Telugu fearing mistakes in her language.
But, it is a different and confident story about Kannada beauty Anushka. Since, she is a south Indian she has advantage of understanding and learning the southern languages very easily. She said “I am fluent in Telugu, Kannada, English and Hindi languages. I have worked in several Tamil films but not developed enough language skills. But, I am sure one day I will dub with my own voice for my Tamil films.”
Keral beauties Priyamani, Nayanatara and Kollywood beauty Trisha have learnt Telugu and can speak very well. Some other stars like Asin, Kajal Agarwal, Samantha, Tapsi are still struggling to learn Telugu language.
Chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy cannot speak Telugu properly. He finds it hard to construct a sentence and even chose the right words to convey what he wants to say or mean.
Cartoonist Sridhar has come up with this wonderful piece on KKR's Telugu language skills. Enjoy!!
Ranis gaalis might just create trouble for Jessica at the censor board
2010/12/14 1:15:12
There's trouble ahead for the much talked-about real-life drama No One Killed Jessica. Rani's character of an intrepid investigative journalist chain smokes and mouths gaalis non-stop. In the trailer, Rani's shocking use of the term 'g..nd phat jaati' has been managed with a beep. But if the film's makers get down to deleting every expletive Rani's character utters there would be huge gaps in her dialogue.
According to sources, Rani's character's flow of profanities is so non-stop that if the censor board decided to beep her gaalis, Rani's dialogue soundtrack would have more beeps than words.
Laughs and protests director Rajkumar Gupta, "It' not that bad, really. You are making it sound like a non-stop abuse binge. My film is not that. But yes, Rani's character is very brutal and graphic in her speech. I don't know if, as you say. Rani is the same way in real life. I didn't know her before I shot with her. But she was thoroughly professional in mouthing squirmy words."
While in real life Rani Mukerji is very comfortable using the 'F' word and 'G' word in English and Hindi, her co-star Vidya Balan in No One Killed Jessica is not quite the type who will mouth maa-bahen galis at the drop of an oath, no matter what the provocation. Not that Vidya is a prude. But she does mind her language. Rani is just the opposite and it shows on screen.
Now the question looming over No One Killed Jessica is, would the censor board allow Rani's character to speak her mind so graphically? The censors are known to clamp down heavily on lurid language unless it is in a Vishal Bhardwaj film. Paradoxically, Vishal's rustic characters are allowed to mouth maa-bahen gaalis. Jessica producers - UTV who co-produced Bharadwaj's Kaminey are hoping that the same language in an urban context is permissible.
Says Rajkumar Gupta, "We voluntarily beeped out Rani's expletive in the trailer because it was to be screened on the home-viewing medium. But now when we submit the film for censorship, we will go with the entire language content intact hoping the censor board would see the context and not just the hard-hitting nature of the language."
While Rani Mukerji is said to be gung-ho about the language, Vidya Balan is apparently dreading how the dialogues would sound in a pindrop-silent theatre with dolby sound. Says the director, "Let's just say, both Rani and Vidya said what they had to. They were thorough professionals."
Another area of discomfort for this controversial film would be the legal ramifications of showing real-life people, particularly the hostile witnesses in the real-life Jessica Lal murder case. Apparently, some of the key witnesses are already inquiring about the content and getting ready for legal action.
Says Rajkumar Gupta, "We're ready for any eventuality. I made the film the way I wanted to as a mix of realism and cinematic entertainment. No One Killed Jessica is not a documentary on the Jessica Lal case. But it is about her sister's fight for justice. And if the real-life characters recognize themselves they are welcome to react how they want."
Or else Rani will let loose a volley of the choicest.
Laughs Gupta, "We are hoping for a U/A (parental guidance) certificate. But even if we get an Adults certificate we're okay with it."
2011/10/24 7:36:39 Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Monday requested the Union Minister for Human Resource Development Kapil Sibal to establish the Centre of Excellence for Studies in Classical Telugu Language in Potti Sriramulu Telugu University at Hyderabad.
In a letter addressed to the Union Minister, the Chief Minister pointed out that grave injustice would be caused to the Telugu speaking people if the Centre of Excellence for Studies in Classical Telugu Language is established at any other place, other than Hyderabad.
"Telugu language is spoken by eight and half crore people residing in the state of Andhra Pradesh and the Diaspora spread over several Indian states as well as many other parts of the world. Telugu is renewed for its mellifluousness and it's ethereal beauty," he said adding that the Centre has recognised the cultural and heritage value of Telugu and thus gave it the status of a Classical language.
"It is learnt that the Ministry of Human Resource Development is proposing to establish the Centre of Excellence for Studies in Classical Telugu Language, at the Central Institute of Indian Language at Mysore," he said adding that grave injustice would be caused to the Telugu speaking people if the centre is established at any place, other than Hyderabad.
The Chief Minister asked Sibal to direct the concerned authorities in the Ministry to establish the Centre of Excellence for Studies in Classical Telugu language at Hyderabad and at that the Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University, at Hyderabad. (INN)
The film Jalsa is now in the finishing stage. The film was bogged down for various factors. Pawan Kalyan's court case was one of the main reasons. It is now out of the way. It is now Ileana who is causing trouble. She had promised some dates but is not sticking to them. She did not report for shooting for a couple of days, which sent the schedule haywire.
Pawn Kalyan was so upset that he is reported to have called her up and given a piece of his mind. The strong language used by Pawan seems to have worked. Ileana has now come down to Hyderabad to complete her part of shooting.
2011/8/4 22:24:54 The 3 film old young hero Naga Chaitanya, who hails from the famous Akkineni family, said he finds it very difficult to pronounce the Telugu dialogues. He said it is because he was born and brought up at Chennai. He assured that, he will try to improve his Telugu language skills at the earliest and try to give his best in his next film. (Please don’t expect it in Dhada which is releasing on 12th August.)
Telugu people will never mind even if he continues like that forever, because the north and Kerala girls made them habituated to watch movies like that only with their funny pronunciation. After all, Naga Chaitanya is a star kid who doesn’t need to worry about all these silly things?
Mumbai, March 19 (IANS) John Abraham, who will be seen as gangster Manya Surve in "Shootout at Wadala", defends the glamour quotient attached to underworld-based movies, saying they are not trying to make heroes out of gangsters.
"Gangsters will always be gangsters. The way they used to work, the language they used and their behaviour - we are not changing anything. We are not making heroes out of gangsters. We are showing what happened in real life between 1979 and 1982," the 39-year-old said here in an interview.
John, who would be seen speaking colloquial Marathi besides typical Mumbaiya language in the film, says it was not hard for him as he has been born and brought up in a typical Mumbai environment.
"May be when people think of John Abraham, they think of someone who eats pizzas and burgers. But John has been born and brought up in Mumbai and John used to stay in Koldongri in Andheri East. He is very familiar with the language," said John.
"There is a big difference between the way people perceive me, and the way I am. I am projected in a particular manner - in 'Dostana' I was shown as a cool, urban guy. But the real John is a middle-class man. I also used to adulterate Hindi language at one point of time," he added.
John has turned producer with "Vicky Donor", a film about sperm donation starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Yami Gautam.
Speaking English was a huge problem for me: Dhanush
2011/12/28 9:08:40
Mumbai, Dec 28 (IANS) “Kolaveri Di” lyrics are a hotchpotch mix of English and Tamil, the singing style doesn’t conform to any particular style and it was sung by a non- singer — despite all that, it became a super hit. Tamil star Dhanush, who lent his voice to it, says his lack of comfort with the English language helped him in choosing the words to connect with people who are not fluent in the language.
Dhanush, who is refreshingly matter-of-fact about “Kolaveri Di”, said: “It’s just a song. Just a phase. It will pass. I am one of those people who don’t know how to speak proper English. But I manage. Speaking English language was initially a huge problem for me, so I knew how to connect with people like me. I knew what words to choose so that they connect with people who are not fluent in English.”
The video for “Kolaveri Di” was released on YouTube Nov 16. Its peppy, catchy tune as well as funky lyrics, helped it go viral on the internet, and get more than a million hits on the website within a day of its release.
The song, composed by 18-year-old Anirudh Ravichander, will be a part of the film “3″, directed by Dhanush’s wife Aishwarya.
Dhanush has no illusions about the quality of the lyrics.
“It’s not poetry. Whatever silly words came to my mind, I used it in the song. It’s just like any composition, nothing special. A group of us gen-next kids — me, Shruti Haasan, my wife Aishwarya and the composer Anirudh — were open to ideas,” he said.
“The tune was done in 20 minutes. As soon as I heard the song, the words simply came to my mind spontaneously. I wanted the words to be understood by everybody regardless of whether they know English or not,” he added.
The young actor says that the film’s script is equally good.
“It seems the song has become bigger than the film. But the film has a solid and novel script. Once people see the film they’ll see the song as just a part of the narration,” he said.
Earlier this month, Dhanush performed live in Mumbai at an award function, his first stage performance.
Talking about the experience, he said: “Earlier I had sung a song for my brother, filmmaker Selvaraghavan’s audio release. That’s my only live performance so far. I wasn’t nervous about performing on Sunday. If I was a professional singer, I’d worry. But I’m an amateur, so it didn’t matter if I went off-key.”
Dhanush added to the Christmas celebrations in Kolkata when he performed his “Kolaveri Di” to thousands of screaming fans Sunday.
“Kolkata was a great experience. It was an overwhelming experience.”
Next, Dhanush will perform live in Delhi.
“God has been very kind to me. I had a great year. I couldn’t have asked for more. Now I’m just going to focus on shooting the song for my wife’s film. Let’s see where it goes from there. It will be shot in the first week of January.”
John Appa Rao 40 plus is being directed by Kuchipudi Venkat. It was touted a coup of sorts when Mandira Bedi’s name was announced. The hot shot celebrity is a regular on ESPN during the world cup and other important tournaments. She is also said to nursing grand Bollywood dreams.
So someone must have advised her not to act in a film with a 40 plus comedian and that too in Telugu. So it was only with a larger objective in mind that she had backed out. She has no films on hand in any language right now, so her talk of not being able to adjust dates is all hogwash.
Well our audience is not complaining. Simran is still as gorgeous and ravishing as she was before her marriage. And with her in the film, the director would have a much easier job as she is a seasoned actress with a considerable fan following in Telugu.
2007/7/24 6:46:25 The unprecedented media lash back over his comments has had the desired effect. The CM who was hell-bent upon defending his comments and sticking to them, has finally had a change of heart and has apologized saying he is taking back his comment s if they had hurt the sentiment of Babu.
But what made YS to change his mind is the large-scale uproar both in the media and elsewhere. Even feedback from party workers gave the news that many people were not in agreement with his comments. Women in particular, irrespective of party affiliations are none too happy with the language and tenor of his speech.
YSR realized that the issue was not going to die down so soon. And if the issue spread to the national media too, it would only further dent his image and also bring him down in front to the party high command. The congress party boss is a woman and YS knows only too well that it would not go down well with her and he would have to answer for his comments. And hence his quick climb down.
2011/2/15 6:40:27 Once again an interesting news about director Shankar’s ongoing film ‘3 Idiots’ was flashed in the media circles stating that, he is insisting Prince Mahesh babu to play the lead role in the Telugu version. It’s because of his youthful looks as well as his manly body language, which he thinks will perfectly fits for the character.
Film nagar sources say that, Shankar has given a final call to Prince Mahesh babu to decide whether to act in his film or not. If, Mahesh babu changes his mind and agrees for his proposal then, surely it will be an off the track film in his film career, which may definitely excites his fans. It was reported that, an awesome amount was offered to him by the film makers to rope him into the film. Let us see, whether our Prince like to see himself as an Idiot or not.
Ponguleti asks EC to ban leaders using foul language
2012/5/1 4:00:52 Hyderabad, May 1 (INN): AICC Secretary and MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar on Tuesday took serious note on political leaders trading serious charges against each other during the campaign for the ensuing by-elections.
Talking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan, Ponguleti Sudhakar said that the political leaders, in the name of election campaign, have been leveling baseless charges against each other and using the derogatory language damaging the party and personal image. “The leaders are leveling personal allegations against others in order to damage their image,” he stated.
Ponguleti appealed to the Election Commission of India to act tough against those leaders, who use foul language in the elections and disqualify them from contesting in the elections. “The Election Commission should consider imposing ban on such persons who use vulgar language in the election campaigns,” he stated.
The AICC Secretary condemned media reports that Congress was facing crisis due to selection of candidates in the constituencies. He said that selection of aspirants was delayed as there were many aspirants in the constituencies. However, the high command would announce the aspirants list in a day or two, he said.
He accused a section of media of publishing baseless reports in order to damage ruling party's image.
2011/8/26 9:13:03 All India Congress Committee official spokesperson Renuka Choudhary on Friday slammed Telangana Rashtra Samiti president K Chandrasekhar Rao for bringing disrepute to the Telangana culture and traditions by speaking in a abusive manner.
Talking to media persons at her Camp Office, Renuka Choudhary took serious note on TRS president using rough language and advised him to change his style of talking. Stating that she was not against formation of Telangana state, she said the state formation would be possible only with the consultation process and not by issuing threats and challenges in the name of agitations.
The former MP advised KCR and Telangana Political Joint Action Committee chairman Prof Kodandaram to stop all agitations henceforth, which are causing inconvenience to the people. Stating that she was born in Telangana, the fire brand leader said there was no need for her to take anyone’s permission or visa to visit her home.
Renuka Chowdhary denied of Congress hand behind the CBI raids in connection with the disproportionate case against Kadapa MP and YSR Congress party president Jaganmohan Reddy. She said the searches were conducted following directions from the AP High Court.
Hailing civil activist Anna Hazare’s crusade against corruption, she found fault with the way agitation for Lokpal Bill is being organised.
Congratulating K Rosaiah on his appointment as Governor of Tamil Nadu, she praised the Centre for picking up an efficient person for the coveted post. It is the proof that those who work with loyalty, dedication and commitment get elevated to higher posts in the Congress party, she said. (INN)
Karishma Kotak made her public appearance in Hyderabad the other day for the launch of the audio. She looked ravishing in a sari. The heroine of Shankardada Zindabad is bowled over by Tollywood. She already seems to have made up her mind to pursue a career in Tollywood. And what better way than showering platitudes.
So like all imports, this young lady says that she loves Hyderabad, the people, the language, the culture, the blah…blah… blah.. . Well all the girls who come from Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai and other places say this without fail. .
2007/11/26 23:51:10 Roja has once again shown her highhanded ways and loose talk at a meeting of the women’s wing of the Telugu Desam party. Roja shouted at Madhavi, a senior party leader and abused her in foul language. She is also stat to have warned other workers that if they do not come around, she will have them thrown out of the party.
Roja said that if she says one word against them to Babu, then they would be expelled from the party within minutes. The senior leaders were aghast at the comments and the language used by Roja. The Telugu Mahila is now divided along caste lines and each group is trying to outwit the other in their struggle for power.
The entire media is agog with the news of Chiranjeevi’s political entry soon. All the leading papers in the state including English language papers have published big front-page reports on the subject. While Chiranjeevi has so far not uttered even a single word on the issue, sources close to Chiranjeevi are reported to have leaked the information.
According to the news reports, Chiranjeevi is said to have finally made up his mind to enter active politics. He will make an official announcement in January 2008. The reports say that Chiranjeevi is convinced about the need for a third front and the major backward classes grouping together has given him confidence that a third force is now very much on the horizon as well as viable.
