ANR for Council

The veteran actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao is being actively considered for a seat in the Legislative council under the Governor’s quota. This has been doing the rounds for quite some time. It was even rumoured that Akkineni was lobbying for the nomination through his friends in the Congress.

However, ANR has denied that he was lobbying for a seat. The government wants to nominate one person from the film industry and ANR’s name is high on the list. However there are many lobbies working hard to push their candidate. Even caste equations have come to the fore. The final call however rests with the CM.

Ban on dubbing film's taking back seat ?

2006/11/28 3:54:27 There has been large scale registration of films for dubbing with the AP State Film Producers Council as the latter imposed a ban on them from November 13. By the deadline date, a total of 113 films were registered thus defeating the very purpose of the ban. Even if the council is very particular to impose the ban, it will take at least two years as the films, numbering around 120, that were already registered with it will have to be released.

At the same time, some producers were ready to defy the ban and were ready to face the consequences by releasing the dubbing films. One producer reportedly claimed, 'I know that the council will not allow me to utilise the concession on advertisements and other things. But I have no fears and am ready to go ahead.'

While 96 straight films were released during this year, about 78 dubbed films were also released simultaneously. During the corresponding period last year, the gap is very big. Of the 130 straight Telugu films, there were only 65 dubbed films.

Though it remained just 50 per cent, the council took a hard decision to ban the dubbed films, claiming that the straight films and low budget films are not getting theatres to screen their film because the dubbed films are occupying them.

    Stalemate in Film Industry continues

2011/4/15 6:11:29 The latest meeting held between the film federation employees unions and the producer’s council today, ends up with out finding any solution. Five unions representing costumes, light men, production boys, technicians and women workers have not agreed to the 32% hike in their salaries proposed by the producer’s council, where as the rest of the 17 unions representing different sections of the film production have agreed.

Members of the producer’s council speaking in the press meet have said that, though they are agreeing for many of the demands, unfortunately some employees unions have failed to reciprocate positively, as they have some differences between their unions. Some unions which were misguided by some persons are insisting for a 100% hike, which is not possible in the present circumstances. If, the strike continues any further ultimately it will affect the producers who have invested huge amounts on the films. Hence, the producer’s council has appealed the five unions to come forward to keep the industry run.

TDP members prevent Mopidevi from speaking in council

2012/2/23 6:45:11 Telugu Desam Party MLCs on Thursday prevented Excise Minister Mopidevi Venkata Ramana from giving a reply on new Excise Policy in the State Legislative Council.

When Mopidevi stood to reply a question raised by TDP MLCs V Gangadhar Goud, B Venkateshwarulu and P Mahender Reddy, the opposition members protested and demanded that some other minister give the reply as Mopidevi has been accused of taking bribe from the liquor syndicate. Angered by TDP MLCs behaviour, the treasury benches accused the main opposition of degrading the status of the council. This led to pandemonium forcing the Chairman to adjourn the House for 10 minutes.

When the House re-assembled after 10 minutes, the Excise Minister refuted the allegations leveled by the TDP members and said that he was ready to reply on all the questions. During this, Chief Whip in the Council Padma Raju intervened and accused the opposition of trying to hijack the House. He said that the TDP members were not willing to face the reality and therefore, running away from the truth.

ANR is a TDP supporter – KK

    2007/3/28 3:52:50

Andhra Pradesh Congress president K Kesava Rao said that he will not support Akkineni Nageswara Rao for the council seat. The reason is obvious. K Kesava Rao says that Akkinenei Nageswara Rao is a die hard Telugu Desam supporter. And how can the Congress support a TDP man? Therefore KK says that there is no way the Congress government is going to nominate ANR to legislative council under the nominated quota.

However this does not put ANR out of the race. ANR has enough friends and sympathizers in the Congress. He has well wishers even in Delhi. So don’t be surprised if ANR pulls a few strings and gets into the council. He knows that there are many people in the Congress who are against KK. And hat better way to get back at KK than by supporting ANR?

    Producer raise question about?

2010/12/30 6:25:15 Producer Natti Kumar speaking to media said “The producer’s council has asked all the film producers and directors to stop their film shootings during the strike period. However, the producer’s council simply ignored some film producers who go on with their film shootings abroad, while the entire film industry came to grinding halt for the last 20days. I like to know, what makes the Council to ignore those producers and why did it allowed shooting during the strike period? I also like to know whether Council can take any action against them at all, for violating the orders given by it. I will write a letter to producer’s council seeking its explanation in this regard.”

Although, Natti Kumar didn’t spell anyone’s names in particular, it is to be understood that, he is speaking about Dasari Narayana Rao and Balakrishna who continues their prestigious film Parama Veera Chakra shooting abroad during the strike period.
