Hyderabad city police have filed a case against Ramachandra Reddy, husband of Karthika Reddy the Ex.Mayor of the city for attacking a timber depo owner.
2007/12/13 4:53:56 Tennis sensation Sania Mirza has been booked under section 448 by the Hyderabad police. The case pertains to the shooting of an ad inside the Mecca Masjid premises in Hyderabad. Sania Mirza featured in an ad for a media organization recently.
And the shooting for the ad was done at Mecca Masjid without prior permission from the Masjid authorities. The authorities have filed a case of trespass and the police have now booked a case against Sania Mirza as well as the ad agency.

2012/4/25 6:49:49 Hyderabad, April 25 (INN): The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has decided to lay underground cables on four roads in the city on pilot basis.
Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, GHMC Mayor Mohammad Majid Hussain and Commissioner MT Krishna Babu said that all cables belonging to MSOs, telephone operators, internet service providers and links would be laid underground under a common duct.
The underground cables would laid on a stretch of about 15 kilometres from Basheerbagh-Assembly-SR Nagar; NFC Junction-Masab Tank-SD Eye Hospital; Taj Krishna to KCP Junction and Indira Park-RTC Crossroads-King Jnt-Ram Nagar.
The Mayor said that once the underground cables are laid, cutting of roads would be banned for a period of five years. He said no agency would be permitted to take up digging up of road and in case of any violation, a criminal case would be booked against the Head of the concerned department.
The GHMC Commissioner said that the works would begin on Wednesday itself and the common duct would reduce the cost of underground cabling for all agencies by almost 10 times. He said another project of having underground cables on the stretch of 123 to 165 kilometres would be completed in the next six months. However, he said no deadline has been fixed for the completion of these projects.
Krishna Babu said that the GHMC was following the Chennai model for the underground cabling works and a team of engineers was sent to Chennai to study the same.
CBI books Jagan for cheating, likely to be arrested
2011/8/18 8:40:01 The Central Bureau of Investigation on Thursday registered a cheating case against the Kadapa MP and YSR Congress president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. He has been booked under five different sections.
According to CBI, "A case under sections 120-B read with 420, 409, 420, 477A and Sec.13(2) r/w 13(1)(c) & (d) of PC Act, 1988, has been booked against Jagan Mohan Reddy and others." Jagan along with other are facing allegations that the investors who invested in the companies, owned and promoted by Jagan, at very high premiums were as a quid-pro-quo for the favours doled out by the then Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh YS Rajasekhara Reddy.
CBI said searches are being conducted at Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata, Rajkot, Delhi and Mumbai. The CBI sources have not ruled out the possibiliy of Jagan Mohan Reddy and others facing arrests in the case. (INN)
2011/12/16 9:49:21 Deputy Mayor Jaffer Hussain Meraj will submit resignation from the post on Friday at 3 pm.
The resignation letter will be handed over GHMC Mayor Banda Karthika Chandra Reddy. The resignation is being submitted as a part of power sharing pact between the Congress and Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen wherein the parties will swap the Mayor and Deputy Mayor's post for two years.
It may be mentioned that Karthika Reddy has already submitted her resignation on December 5. The GHMC's Special General Body will be held on December 17 at 10.30 am to accept Mayor's resignation. This will be followed by an ordinary meeting at 11 am to confirm the resignation. After the acceptance of Mayor's resignation, the GHMC Commissioner will intimate the State Election Commission about the vacancy and later, the commission will issue a fresh notification for the election of a new GHMC Mayor and Deputy Mayor. The Hyderabad District Collector will be the Returning Officer for these elections.
The new Mayor will be from the MIM while the Deputy Mayor's post will be occupied by a Congress corporator. (INN)
2011/12/28 17:22:21 The elections of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation's second Mayor and Deputy Mayor have been postponed to January 3.
Earlier, the elections were scheduled to be held on December 30. Further, the election's venue too has been changed from the Jubilee Hall to the GHMC's Council Hall at Tank Bund.
The process for the elections of GHMC second and city's 24th Mayor and 25th Deputy Mayor would begin at 11 am with the filing of nominations. At about 11.30 am, elections would take place through a voice vote or 'Division', if required. Hyderabad District Collector Natrajan Gulzar is the Returning Officer for these elections.
As part of power-sharing agreement, the MIM will contest for the Mayor's post while the Congress will field its candidate for the Deputy Mayor's post.
As many as 150 GHMC corporators and 66 ex-officio members would exercise their franchise to elect the new Mayor and Deputy Mayor. The ex-officio members include five Lok Sabha MPs, 11 Rajya Sabha MPs, 25 MLAs and 25 MLCs. However, the co-option members would have no voting rights.

2007/8/12 22:58:16 The Mayor of Warangal, E Swarna, staged a walkout from a meeting being chaired by the chief minister. She walked out of the meeting not in protest against the CM but against the protocol violation. The Mayor felt insulted, as she has not been invited on to the dais.

2012/1/19 14:24:34 Around 20 women staged a dharna before the office of South Zone Deputy Commissioner of Police at Purani Haveli here on Thursday in protest against the alleged harassment by the local police in a dowry case.
The women alleged that the Santoshnagar police wrongly booked two neighbours in a dowry harassment case. Based on a complaint filed by Reshma, the Santoshnagar police registered a case of attempt to murder, dowry harassment and other relevant sections against her husband Ghouse Pasha and her in-laws, all residents of Shaheen Nagar about two months ago. However, the police arrested their neibhbours - Zarina and Razia in the case this week.
Zarina's relatives claimed that as the case pertains to dowry harassment, being neighbours they were not at all connected with the case. Accompanied with the local residents, the relatives first met Home Minister K Sabhitha Indira Reddy seeking help on Thursday morning and on her directions met DCP - South Zone Manish Kumar Sinha.
The DCP has assured the relatives that he would enquire into the matter. (INN)
Satisfied with pace of probe into Suri’s killing: Bhanumati
2011/6/21 9:57:00 Expressing confidence that the guilty would be arrested soon, Gangula Bhanumati, widow of Maddelacheruvu Suri, on Tuesday said that she was satisfied with the pace of investigations into her husband’s murder case after the probe was taken over the Crime Investigation Department (CID).
Talking to media persons at CID Office here, after giving evidence in connection with the murder of her husband, Ms Banumati expressed confidence that prime accused Bhanu Kiran, who is absconding, would be arrested soon.
“I am satisfied with the pace of investigations. The CID has achieved a lot of progress in connection with the case and I am confident that it would be cracked soon,” the factionist’s widow said.
“The pace of investigations has picked up after the case was handed over to the CID,” she added.
Ms Bhanumati further revealed that she had asked the government to transfer the case to CID as police failed to crack the case.(INN)
2011/9/9 7:00:06 The Anti-Corruption Bureau Court, which gave clean chit to former chief minister K Rosaiah in the Maitrivanam land case, on Friday directed the authorities to give a copy of judgment to concerned respondents.
Dealing with a petition filed in this connection, the Special Court directed the authorities to handover a copy of verdict to concerned respondents immediately. The court later adjourned the next hearing in the case to September 26.
In its verdict, the court pointed out that former chief minister and officials during his tenure did not resort to any malpractices and did not show any favoritism to anybody.
However, the ACB Court stated it has found violations of the Land Acquisition Act, which is a civil matter.
Earlier, the ACB booked a case against former Chief Minister K. Rosaiah and 14 others in connection with a land de-notification case following a directive from the AP High Court based on a petition filed by an advocate Sriranga Rao.
The case was booked under the provisions of Prevention of Corruption Act and under Sections 406 (Criminal Breach of Trust) and 409 (Criminal breach of trust by public servant, or by banker) of the IPC. (INN)
2011/2/22 6:55:49 Veteran actress Amani and her family members have been dragged to court under dowry harassment case by her brother’s wife Sashikala. It’s learnt that, Amani and her family members have harassed her and forced her to separate from her husband as she fails to meet their demands. Sashikala, who is living with her parents now, has filed a petition in Nelloer court against Amani, her husband and other members of their family.
Earlier, it was reported by a leading Telugu News Channel that, Amani, her brother and family members have locked Sashikala inside a room while she was having pains for delivery. It reported that, neighbors who heard her screaming have broke open the doors and rushed to her a near by hospital. Amani and her family members were severely criticized by one and all in the society for their cruel attitude shown towards their own family member who desperately needs their help at that moment.
Shashikala also accused in her petition that, her husband not only harassed her for dowry but also married another girl before divorcing her. Therefore, Amani and her family members were at receiving end in this case.
Amani, her husband Hazrath and her brother who attends the court on Tuesday, were quite irritated when media ran behind them asking questions and taking photographs. Amani and her husband Hazrat have spit fire on them for taking photographs without their consent. The court adjourned their case to 4th of March.
2011/9/20 5:07:26 Kannada hero Darshan was arrested by Bangalore police on September 9th for harassing and manhandling his wife Vijaya Lakshmi. Hence, the family court in Bangalore has denied bail to him, despite his wife Vijaya Lakshmi with drawing the case on her husband and takes 'U' turn on her complaint made against him.
She told the court that she is withdrawing the case filed against her husband and asked to release her husband. She told the court that she was injured when slipped from the staircase in her home and not because she was beaten by her husband. However, the court expressing anguish for her 'U' turn has denied bail to her husband.
However, when the police arrested the actor Darshan, he has suddenly developed health problems and admitted in the hospital and may takes treatment until he get a bail from the court.
2011/11/12 6:32:54 Telugu film actor Nikhil, of Happy Days fame, has been booked by the City Police for drunken driving.
The actor's Skoda Laura was stopped at the Jubilee Hills Check Post where the police was undertaking a special drive to check drunken driving. The breath analyser test conducted by the traffic police personnel showed that Nikhil was driving the car under the influence of alcohol. The police immediately seized his car and a case has been booked against the actor.
Police also served a notice to Nikhil asking him to appear before the court on Monday.

2011/6/16 10:46:11 The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has sanctioned Rs 10 lakh for repair works in graveyards and mosques in view of the forthcoming Holy Nights of Shab-e-Meraj and Shab-e-Baraat.
Mayor Banda Kartika Reddy said that the sanctioned amount would be used to take up repair works on High-Mast lights, Mini Mast lights, sanitation in and around mosques and graveyards. Temporary lighting would also be provided in some graveyards and mosques, the Mayor said.
Addressing a Press Conference in her Chambers on Thursday, Ms Karthika Reddy, along with Deputy Mayor Jaffar Hussain and other Corporators told media persons that the GHMC is making all necessary arrangements to the convenience of around 15 lakh population for offering their prayers. She also said that GHMC will consider any specific request made for the occasion.

Shreya Saran, the heroine of Rajniakanth in the film Sivaji’ has been booked in a police case of indecent exposure. The Hindu Makkal Katchi filed the case. The HMK said that Shreya has hurt the sentiments of the Hindus by appearing in a scantily clad dress for the silver jubilee celebrations of the film ‘Sivaji’. Tamil Nadu chief minister M Karunanidhi was the chief guest at the function.
Shreya has since apologized for her action. She wrote a letter to the HMK as well as chief minister M Karunanidhi. She stated that she deeply regrets for hurting the sentiments and sensibilities with her dress. She has asked them to forgive her.
