Paris Hilton may go behind bars

    2007/3/1 6:04:37

Hotel heiress Paris Hilton might go to jail after being caught by Los Angeles police for speeding and driving without her headlights on.

According to a witness, Hilton mouthed off to the deputies, prompting the officials to ask her to step out of her convertible.

Although a search of the trunk turned up nothing, her traffic record revealed that she was driving on a suspended driver's license, reports www.hollywood.tv. After that the deputies decided to impound her Bentley.

Her license had been suspended last September after she entered a plea of no contest on a DUI (drunken driving) charge.

For that offence, Hilton received 36 months probation on condition that she would obey all laws. But she has violated her probation and might be fined or jailed for three months.

Hilton did not look happy as her $2,00,000 convertible was being towed away. Her publicist Elliot Mintz said that Hilton had failed to notice that her headlights weren't on because the parking was brightly lit.

Pulivendula MLA YS Vijayalakshmi was sworn in by Pro-tem Assembly Speaker JC Diwakar Reddy on Friday on the Assembly premises after she was re-elected with a thumping majority on the YSR Congress Party ticket.

The brief ceremony was attended by MP-elect and her son YS Jaganmohan Reddy, MP Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy, MLAs Konda Surekha, Jayasudha, Shobha Nagireddy, K Srinivas, Dwarampudi Chandrasekhar, Dharmanna Krishnadas, Bharathi, Adinarayana Reddy and Golla Babu Rao. MLCs Pulla Padmavathi and Konda Murali were also present.

After the ceremony, MLA Adinarayana Reddy stated that the Speaker should be unanimously elected to his post as per the tradition. It is a tradition not to field any candidate for the Speaker and Legislative Council Chairmans post. Both the posts should be elected unanimously without any competition, he stated.

Mr Adinarayana Reddys statement assumes importance in the wake of TDP announcing plans that it would field its own candidate KE Krishna Murthy to Speakers post.

When asked about partys stand on the No Confidence Motion to be introduced by the Telugu Desam Party, Mr Adinarayana Reddy stated that the party would take a decision at an appropriate time.

The notice to introduce the Motion given by the TDP has many lapses. We will have to study it thoroughly. If need be, we will have to reconsider our decision of supporting the No Confidence Motion, he said.

Why only deputy posts for T leaders: Congress MLA

2011/6/3 3:58:02 Why should the leaders from Telangana always serve as deputies to the leaders from the other two regions of the state? questioned Congress MLA from Warangal district T Rajaiah on Friday, giving a new twist to the governments decision to name leaders from Telangana as the Deputy Chief Minister and Deputy Speaker.

Talking to media persons on the Assembly premises, Mr Rajaiah alleged that the government had discriminated against the Telangana region by appointed the regions MLAs as deputies to the MLAs from Seemandhra region for the two important posts.

The Telangana MLAs are facing lot of injustice in the appointments to Constitutional posts. Telangana have not been given proper representation despite having a population of 4 crore people, Mr Rajaiah stated.

He also criticised Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy for recommending names of Telangana leaders for the Deputy Speaker post, but not for the Speakers post.

Mr Rajaiah stated that the Telangana MLAs would raise this issue before the Congress High Command and demand that the injustice be set right.

The MLA further appealed to the state government to make a statement on Telangana issue before the introduction of the No Confidence Motion against the Chief Minister.

Based on the statement given by the government, the MLAs from Telangana would take a decision whether to support the Motion or not, Mr Rajaiah stated.

    Did Pocharam won to resign?

2011/10/21 5:28:23 Nowadays, contesting elections and resigning the next day has become a child's play for our MLAs and MPs. While, some resign demanding Telangana state, some others resign throwing challenge to their rivals. None of them takes the people who elect them into their consideration before throwing their resignation letters to speaker.

The same way, once an MLA or MP seat in a constituency is vacated, the same political parties put their candidates in the contest to display their influence and command over the people. Banswada bye-elections are one fine example for it.

When, Pocharam Srinivasa Reddy has migrated from TDP to TRS, he has resigned to his Banswada MLA post. Then, once again he has contested in the same constituency on TRS flag and won the elections and once again sworn in as Banswada MLA on Friday.

While rest of his party (TRS) MLAs have slams their resignation letters at speaker long time ago, he sworn-in as new MLA from the same party. In the wake of their resignation letters, will he again resigns to his MLA post or stick to it against his party's policy.

Shall this game of contesting and resigning continue at the cost of public expense? Why the people should elect such leaders who make joke of democratic process? May it be for Telangana cause or some other cause, shall we afford to keep this show on forever? If, so who will be the losers? The leaders or the people who elect them again and again?
