The Hyderabad brothers P Janardhan Reddy and Mari Sasidhar Reddy are taking the initiative to install a statue of the late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in Hyderabad today. Today is her 90th birth anniversary.
A statue ofIndira Gandhi is being installed at Shiparamam cross roads near Hitech city. P Janardhana Reddy has taken the initiative. Some congress party leaders are however grumbling and are not happy. The reason is that Janardhan Reedy is treating it as a personal affair rather than a party function.
Many congress leaders have not been informed about it nor have received any invitation. Verappa Moily will unveil the statue in the presence of chief minister Y S Rajashekar Reddy this afternoon.
2011/6/9 9:40:03 Minister for Labour Danam Nagender on Thursday stated that the newly appointed Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana will assume charge on June 11.
Talking to media persons after reviewing the arrangements with PCC office bearers at Gandhi Bhavan, Mr Nagender said the PCC chief would be taken in a procession from Katta Mysamma Temple near Assembly to Gandhi Bhavan.
He said Mr Satyanarayana would garland former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s statue at Punjagutta, former prime minister Indira Gandhi’s statue in Necklace Road, Dr BR Ambedkar statue at Tank Bund and Babu Jagjivan Ram’s statue at Basheer Bagh Press Club before proceeding to Gandhi Bhavan in a procession.
Chief minister K Rosaiah who is just about managing to run the show with blessings from the high command is now trying to please madam Sonia and stay in her god books for as long as possible.
Rosaiah said that he would like to rename Medak district after Indira Gandhi. Indira had contested from Medak and represented this seat in the Lok Sabha.
What Rosaiah seems to have forgotten is that it was Indira Gandhi who crushed the agitation for separate Telangana by luring away the agitating leaders with plum posts.
So it is unlikely that the ‘T’ leaders will agree to any proposal to rename the Medak district after Indira Gandhi.

It took him 25 days to complete the task. The air-conditioned museum has statues of 32 prominent personalities including Mahatma Gandhi, India's first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, English comic actor Charlie Chaplin, late musician Michael Jackson, and several other living and dead legends.

The renowned Grevin Museum prepares to unveil the actor’s wax replica this April — he’ll become the only other Indian besides Gandhi in the museum, reports Shilpa Jamkhandikar.
One wax statue at London’s Madam Tussauds isn’t enough for Shah Rukh Khan. The superstar is now set to be moulded in wax for the second time - this time at the famed Grevin Wax Museum in Paris this April.
What’s even more interesting is that King Khan will become the only living Indian to have his statue installed at this museum. The only other Indian whose statue graces Grevin’s is none other than Mahatma Gandhi. The Grevin Museum is a well known international museum of wax statues and boasts an impressive collection of wax figures, including Michael Jackson and Celine Dion.
Shah Rukh has spent hours for the ‘sittings’ for the making of the statue during his frequent visits to London. “Shah Rukh is very popular in France, and the unveiling of the wax statue is scheduled to be a huge event in Paris. Shah Rukh, of course, has already promised that he would be present for it,” said a source.
In fact, compared to the replica at Madame Tussaud’s, this one is supposed to have more of a likeness to the star and Shah Rukh himself is said to be impressed with the handiwork of the artisans. Shah Rukh is expected to unveil the statue at a grand function which may also be attended by a few of his close Bollywood friends.
Well, it sure seems like France is as besotted with Shah Rukh as India is, what with the government there having just honoured him with the Insignia of Officer in the Order Arts and Letters and is extremely keen that he visit Paris to promote Indian cinema there. Good going!
BJP activists stop installation of NTR statue at VSKP
2008/5/28 6:33:06 The BJP Yuva Morcha activists stopped the unveiling of a statue of the late TDP founder NT Rama Rao in Visakhapatnam. The local TDP workers arranged a program on the occasion of NT Rama Rao’s birth anniversary and invited union minister and NT Rama Rao’s eldest daughter Purandrareshwari to unveil the statue.
But the BJP Yuva Sena objected to this. Their contention was that the statue was that of NT Rama Rao as Lord Krishna. The BJP leaders took objection to NTR being projected as God.

2007/10/11 10:55:28 The media scene in Hyderabad is getting hotter by the day. A spate of new dailies, weeklies and TV channels are hitting the state at regular intervals. The Hyderabad brothers M Sasidhar Reddy and P Janardhan Reddy now plan to join the media bandwagon. 2011/6/11 2:44:54 Transport Minister Botsa Satyanarayana began his assigned task of rejuvenating the listless cadre, curb dissension in the party ranks, bring peace among Cabinet Ministers on odds with each other, apart from handling other responsibilities by taking charge as the Pradesh Congress Committee president at the Gandhi Bhavan on Saturday.
Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, former chief ministers K Rosaiah and Nedurumalli Janardhan Reddy, outgoing PCC president D Srinivas, Union Minister S Jaipal Reddy, AICC Additional In-Charge of AP Affairs KV Krishnamurthy, Union Minister of State Pannabaka Lakshmi, several state Cabinet Ministers and MPs, MLAs and MLCs and other former PCC presidents K Kesava Rao, Satyanrayana who is presently the APSRTC Chairman, were present at the Prakasam Hall to welcome Mr Satyanarayana’s as the ruling party’s chief.
Mr Satyanarayana replaces D Srinivas, who had been in his third term when he was replaced.
The Transport Minister has tough task on his hands, with the YSR Congress Party launched by former Congress leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy making inroads into Congress bastions across the state.
Mr Satyanarayana has to ensure that the MLAs who have a soft heart for Mr Jaganmohan Reddy do not cross over to him while at the same time being strict with those Congress leaders who have already done so.
Apart from that, Mr Satyanarayana has to rejuvenate the Congress cadre across the state, most of who are disenchanted with the party after their hopes of their own political careers taking an upward trend are more or less unfulfilled.
He also has to find ways to ensure that a resurgent Telangana Rashtra Samithi does not walk away with the accolades as the separate Telangana statehood agitation intensifies.
The main opposition Telugu Desam Party is largely seen to be the least of Mr Satyanarayana’s as that party is busy in protecting its own turf from the sustained attacks by the TRS in Telangana and the YSR Congress Party in Seemandhra regions.
Besides this, Mr Satyanarayana has to soothe the increasing ruffling of feathers of some Cabinet Ministers who are engaged in a bitter turf war.
The impending Cabinet expansion will also be another litmus test of Mr Satyanarayana’s skills as the possibilities of some Congress leaders being left very disappointed are very high.
Earlier, Mr Satyanarayana made his way to the Gandhi Bhavan from his resident in a massive procession of party activists and leaders.
He had garlanded former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s statue at Punjagutta, former prime minister Indira Gandhi’s statue in Necklace Road, Dr BR Ambedkar’s statue at Tank Bund and Babu Jagjivan Ram’s statue at Basheer Bagh Press Club before proceeding to Gandhi Bhavan.
Mr Satyanarayana had even earlier offered prayers at the Bangaru Mysamma temple at Nampally.
The Hyderabad brothers Marri Sasidhar Reddy and P Janardhan Reddy met the AICC in charge for Andhra Pradesh Veerappa Moily in New Delhi on Tuesday. Moily is the new in charge for AP affairs and he replaces Digvijay Singh.
The Hyderabad brothers are a thorn in the flesh of chief minister Y S Rajashekar Reddy. The former PCC chief K Keshava Rao had served them with show-cause notices. The duo is reported to have submitted a big secret file containing the list of their grievances against the chief minister.
2012/4/25 6:46:43 New Delhi, April 25 (INN): Eight Congress MPs from the Telangana region, who were suspended from the Lok Sabha for four days, on Wednesday staged a silent protest before the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in the Parliament premises.
In a symbolic protest to convey that their voice was being suppressed, the MPs sat on a dharna before the Gandhi statue by tying black cloth on their mouths. However, they held placards demanding introduction of a Bill on Telangana in the on-going budget session of the Parliament. The placards also had slogans demanding that the government honour the promise made by Union Home Minister P Chidambaram on December 9, 2009.
The MPs had threatened that they would intensify their agitation for statehood from next Monday.
Meanwhile, the newly nominated Rajya Sabha members from the state Palwai Goverdhan Reddy and Ponnala Laxmaiah have expressed solidarity with the agitation of Telangana MPs.
2011/2/18 4:48:19 The seven day long Diksha that YS.Jagan Mohan Reddy has started today morning at Hyderabad is named after the deceased B.tech student Varalakshmi. At first, he planned to conduct only one day Deeksha demanding for the fee reimbursement to the students. But, in the wake of latest developments he has extended his Deeksha to seven days.
While, there was overwhelming response from all the downtrodden sections, surprisingly he got support from TRS party also. The chairman of T JAC Prof. Kodhanda Ram has conveyed their solidarity to Jagan’s Deeksha, which is a new development in the state politics that may lead to new political equations in the state.
YS.Jagan Mohan Reddy has started his Deeksha beginning with garlanding his father late YSR’s statue at Panjagutta circle and then proceeds to Tankbund where he garlands Dr.Ambedkar’s statue. Then, he started his seven day long Deeksha at Indira Park.
Thousands of people from all over the state thronged the area and many more on their way to Deeksha place. Jagan has flayed the State Government in his speech.
