2011/10/9 7:55:03 Anna Hazare could be fielded by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as an all-party opposition candidate in the 2012 presidential elections, Congress leader Digvijay Singh said Sunday.
"I don't know how far it is true, but I have heard that BJP has told Anna Hazare that he could be the all-party candidate for the 2012 president's election," the Congress general secretary told reporters here.
He said that it is for Hazare to say if anything like this has been proposed to him since he always says that he is not a political person.
Referring to the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) statement claiming that it was part of Hazare's movement, Digvijay Singh said: "Anna Hazare demanded that I should be sent to a mental asylum when I alleged the RSS hand...now that RSS itself is saying that they supported Anna Hazare... then now Anna should also accompany me to the mental asylum. Check-ups should be done on both of us."
The Congress and Team Anna are at loggerheads with Hazare appealing to people not to vote for Congress in the Oct 13 Hisar by-election in Haryana.

Immediately, the jail officials brought the doctors and had a thorough check-up for him. Doctors advised him to end his fasting and take liquid diet, but Hazare refused.

Hazare said that, since the goal is common for both of them, he would like to support him. Hazare stated that, there are no differences between them regarding Lok Pal Bill or any other issue.
Noted Activist and Gandhian Anna Hazare has rejected an award that carries a cash prize of Rs. One core and a Gold medal. The Delhi based IIPM had decided to confer the Rabindranath Tagore Peace Prize for the year 2010.
Anna Hazare however did not disclose the reason for rejecting the award.

Social activist and Gandhian styled Anna Hazare who brings the whole country to one line with his fight against corruption, is starting the second phase of his fight from Friday at Bangalore. He will address the people on Saturday at a meeting to be held at Basavanagudi National College grounds tomorrow, where more than 3 lakhs people are expected to attend the meeting. Elaborate arrangements are being made to make the meeting grand success. Many TV Channels have come down to the venue to give a live coverage of the meeting. Anna Hazare has asked the organizers of the meetings to see youth below 30 years participate in the meetings with which he is planning to build new corruption free society.
Former IPS officer Kiranbedi, Swami Agnivesh, Aravinda K Jriwal, Prasahanth Bushan and many others except politicians will join Anna Hazare in his meetings.

Hazare explained that the swelling on his legs remains unabated, continuing to create problems for his knees.
The vow of silence he undertook Oct 16 proved beneficial since verbal communication weakens him, Hazare added.
After going on 'maun vrat', Hazare shifted his residence from the Padmavati Temple complex to his old residence, the Yadavbaba Temple complex, in this village, about 250 km from the state capital Mumbai.
