Suspended TDP MLA Nagam Janardhan Reddy was arrested by the police when he tried to take out a rally from Gunpark to Ambedkar Statue at Tank Bund here on Monday. He was protesting against the inordinate delay in acceptance of resignations submitted for cause of Telangana state by the Speaker Nadendla Manohar.
The police shifted Nagam and his supporting MLAs to Goshamahal police station. Earlier, Nagam accused the Speaker Nadendla Manohar of violating rights of MLAs by not accepting their resignations. Talking to media persons at the Assembly premises, he alleged that the Speaker instead of protecting the rights of elected representatives was violating their rights. He also alleged that Seemandhra rulers were not allowing his MLAs to stage protest at the Gandhi Statue in the Assembly premises.
Stating that resigning from the membership was MLAs’ right, he said the Speaker must explain the reasons for not accepting the same even after three weeks. He asked as to why Speaker was showing discrimination in accepting resignation of Telangana leaders. He said that he would launch agitation to protect the rights of the MLAs in democracy across the Telangana if the Speaker did not announce his decision soon.
Nagam also claimed that his fight against illegal mining yielding results with the arrest of Karnataka Minister Gali Janardhan Reddy by the Central Bureau of Investigation. He demanded that the CBI initiate probe against all Cabinet ministers of former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy for their involvement in corruption.
The former minister said that people of the region would teach a fitting lesson to elected representatives, who failed to press for acceptance of resignations by mounting pressure on Speaker Nadendla Manohar. He advised Telangana ministers to seek Governor E S L Narasimhan’s help in getting their resignations accepted.
Another MLA Harishwar Reddy demanded that the CBI also include Home Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy, the then Mines Minister, in mining scam probe for renewing the mining license permits violating rules and regulations. (INN)
2011/8/16 8:20:09 Speaker Nadendla Manohar on Tuesday served notices to suspended senior TDP leader Dr Nagam Janardhan Reddy and his party colleague Harishwar Reddy under violation of Privilege Rights of House.
Seeking explanation from them within a week, the Speaker asked them as to why they lodged a police complaint against him under 'missing man' at Saifabad police station when he went to attend Common Wealth Speakers conference in London.
The Speaker said that he had already informed all legislators that he was attending a conference in London. Despite information Nagam has lodged missing complaint against him at Saifabad Police Station seeking his whereabouts.
Nagam said that they were constrained to lodge a complaint with the police as the Speaker was eluding them deliberately to accept their resignations forthwith. (INN)
2011/11/13 13:08:24 A day after acceptance of his resignation from the post of MLA, Telangana Nagara Samithi president Nagam Janardhan Reddy on Sunday accused Legislative Assembly Speaker Nadendla Manohar of misusing his office and powers.
Addressing a press conference, Nagam alleged that the Speaker has been depriving the MLAs of their right to resign from their posts. He said the Speaker has been intentionally delaying the decision, in clear violation of the democratic norms. Citing prior cases, he said that on several occasions, the resignations were accepted in a just half an hour. However, the Speaker has delayed the decision by several months.
Nagam claimed that it was only after he approached the Andhra Pradesh High Court that Speaker Nadendla Manohar accepted his resignation. He said his intention to approach the court was to expose the fact that the Speaker was suppressing the basic right of MLAs to resign. However, fearing court's intervention, Nadendla immediately accepted the resignation, he claimed.
The former minister said that the Speaker must take immediate decision on all pending resignations. He said it hardly takes time to verify whether a resignation is genuine or not. "The Speaker needs to verify the signature and check whether the resignation was voluntary or not. But Nadendla Manohar has misused the rules to his advantage to delay the decisions," he alleged.
Nagam alleged that the Speaker was acting as per the directions of Governor ESL Narasimhan who is implementing the eighth chapter of the Srikrishna Committee. He demanded that the Speaker must accept the resignations of all MLAs who have resigned for the cause of Telangana. He said further delay would amount to violation of democratic norms and misuse of powers that the Speaker enjoys.
Nagam announced that he would not join any party and his political future would be decided by the people of Nagarkurnool constituency. He also challenged TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu to contest the by-elections against him if he thinks that people still support him. (INN)
2011/8/26 9:11:10 Suspended Telugu Desam Party MLA Nagam Janardhan Reddy and other rebel TDP MLAs on Friday appealed the Assembly Speaker Nadendla Manohar to accept their resignations submitted for the cause of Telangana state.
Talking to media persons at Assembly Media Point, Nagam said that the Speaker has assured to take a decision soon on their resignations. He expressed confidence that the Speaker would take favourable decision and accept their group resignations.
Nagam said that he would provide protection to TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu if he was ready to talk with Telangana students on the lines of Andhra students on corruption. He asked why Naidu did not respond to the looting in the Telangana region by Seemandra leaders.
Another MLA Harishwar Reddy said that he would submit his resignation to party primary membership once the Speaker accepts his resignation to MLA post. They slammed the Telangana Congress leaders for not standing-by to their resignations.

2011/11/11 6:27:51 Telangana Nagara Samithi president Nagam Janardhan Reddy on Friday moved a petition in the Andhra Pradesh High Court requesting the court to seek explanation from Assembly Speaker Nadendla Manohar as to why he did not accepted his resignation submitted for the cause of Telangana statehood.
In his petition, he said that the Speaker has been violating the rights of people’s representatives by not accepting their resignations. “The MLAs have the right to submit their resignation," he said.
Later talking to media persons after filing a petition, Nagam stated that he was forced to approach the court as the Speaker has failed to accept his resignation. With Speaker not heeding to his request, Nagam said that he has filed a petition in the court seeking justice.

2011/8/19 8:40:38 Suspended Telugu Desam party leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy on Friday demanded that the government file charge sheet against all Telangana ministers holding them responsible for suicides that people have committed demanding statehood for Telangana region.
Talking to media persons after submitting an explanation to Assembly Secretary for Speaker Nadendla Manohars notices on him along with Revanth Reddy, Nagam claimed that the people committed suicides as the ministers failed to honour their promise on Telangana. 2011/10/1 7:03:33 Suspended TDP MLA Nagam Janardhan Reddy along with three other TDP MLAs - Harishwar Reddy, Jogiramana and Venugopal Chary locked themselves in a cabin near the Speaker Nadendla Manohar peshi in the State Legislative Assembly premises on Saturday.
They announced that they would not come of the cabin unless the Speaker accepts their resignations. The assembly staff and security personnel were both surprised and shocked by this novel protest, especially at a time when the Speaker is not in town. The local police is not empowered to enter the premises unless asked by the Speaker and the assembly staff on their own cannot evict the MLAs.
Earlier, talking to reporters Nagam said a member of the legislative assembly he has a right to resign to his post and it would be unconstitutional to reject his resignation if it was submitted in the correct format. However, Nagam said the Speaker has been delaying the decision on their resignations for a very long time, which was unprecedented.
The former minister also clarified that he did not resign to enforce by-elections and re-contest from the same seat. "We have resigned from our posts to create constitutional crisis so as to pressurise the Centre on announcing statehood for Telangana region," he said. 'Jai Telangna' dominates 'Jai Hind' in legislative assembly
2011/8/15 2:32:53 For the first time in the history of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly, the hoisting of national flag was followed by slogans of 'Jai Telangana' and not 'Jai Hind'.
The Independence Day celebrations in the legislative assembly premises were marred by protests by the suspended TDP MLA Nagam Janardhan Reddy who tried to hoists Telangana flag along with the national flag Tiranga. Tension mounted when Janardhan Reddy tried to reach the corridor where Assembly Speaker N Manohar was to hoist the Tiranga. Nagam was holding a national flag, as well as Telangana flag, in his hands. However, a police official swung into action and snatched both the flags from Nagam's hand before he could proceed further.
Soon after the recital of national anthem, Nagam started raising Jai Telangana slogans. However, he also shouted 'Jai Bharat' once or twice, but it was 'Jai Telangana' slogans than dominated the flag hoisting ceremony at the assembly premises.
Later, Nagam asked Speaker as to why he was not allowing hoisting of Telangana flag. He also complained that the Speaker was not available to meet Telangana legislators and also rejected their resignations. Reacting to Nagam's compalint, the Speaker gave an appointment to Nagam and three other MLAs at 2 pm on Tuesday to discuss the resignation issue.

AK Khan meets Speaker to clarify on protocol violation
2011/8/16 3:42:59 Hyderabad City Police Commissioner Mr. AK Khan on Tuesday met the Speaker of Legislative Assembly N. Manohar apparently to clarify on an issue related to protocol violation.
On the occasion of Independence Day on Monday, a police official has reportedly snatched Telangana flags from suspended TDP MLA Nagam Janardhan Reddy. This matter has reportedly been treated as a violation of protocol, by both the Speaker and Mr. Nagam. The police have no jurisdiction in the premises of entire legislative assembly and it cannot act without the permission of the Speaker. However, Monday's incident wherein a flag was snatched from the suspended TDP MLA was done without Speaker's instructions or consent.
The City Police Commissioner has reportedly given clarification on the entire issue to the Speaker. If the policemen are found guilty of protocol violation, the Speaker has the powers to take direct action against the officials. (INN)
2011/9/4 10:21:38 Suspended Telugu Desam Party leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy on Sunday alleged that Speaker Nadendla Manohar was violating the constitution by not accepting the resignations submitted by the Telangana MLAs.
Talking to media persons, Nagam Janardhan Reddy condemned the Speaker ‘indifferent attitude’ in not taking any decision on acceptance of resignations despite several appeals. He said the Constitution has empowered an MLA to resign from the membership under one-line format. However, by not accepting the resignations, the Speaker is violating the constitution, he alleged.
Nagam said that he would launch ‘Jana yatra’ from Monday to stress the importance of formation of Telangana state. “The ‘Jana yatra’ will create awareness among the people and help in putting an end to the discrimination of Seemandhra people,” he stated.
Responding to resignation of three pro-Jagan MLAs from the region, he asked them to clarify whether they resigned for the cause of Telangana or Jagan Mohan Reddy. Stating that he would continue his agitation for Telangana statehood until Centre announces its decision, he expressed his total support for the employees’ general strike beginning from September 13 under the aegis of Telangana Political Joint Action Committee. Nagam demands Speaker's resignation for anti-Dalit remarks
2011/9/1 9:13:04 Controversy is brewing over the publication of some alleged remarks made by the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Nadendla Manohar in the Wikileaks Cable.
Suspended TDP MLA Nagam Janardhan Reddy alleged that the Speaker has made remarks against Dalits and the same has been published in the Wikileaks Cable. However, the Speaker's Secretariat was quick to respond and immediately issued a clarification. "Reports in certain sections of the media have mentioned about the then Deputy Speaker Sri N Manohar remarks in the Wikileaks Cable. Sri Manohar completely denies that such views were ever expressed in any conversation with anyone and the mention made is far from truth and absolutely false."
However, Nagam used the occasion to express his ire. He described the Speaker as anti-Dalit and anti-Telangana. He said Manohar was delaying the decision on the resignations submitted by Telangana MLAs only to stall the formation of Telangana. He also challenged the Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy to dissolve the assembly and go for fresh mandate. He said the next elections would prove that all voters in the region want separate Telangana. However, he said the Speaker was delaying the process by not accepting the resignations submitted by the Telangana MLAs.
Demanding Manohar's resignation from the Speaker's post, Nagam said he must prove that he did not make any anti-Dalit comment which has been published by the Wikileaks Cable. (INN)

2011/7/23 6:35:31 The expelled TDP leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy, who has no-work to do, ding dongs between TJAC and its hand in glove party TRS for his political survival. But, neither of them have entertained him anyway as they also were struggling for their own survival since the Telangana Congress leaders are trying to grab the limelight with their resignation letters.
Hence, the no-work-Nagam went to meet Governor Narasimhan today, so as he can show the media that he too is very busy meeting Governor and Chief Minister etc. He has asked the Governor to approve his and his colleagues resignations, which were kept in pending by the speaker. 2011/8/27 7:50:12 Suspended TDP MLA Nagam Janardhan Reddy on Saturday indirectly accused the Speaker Nadendla Manohar of trying to suppress the voice of Telangana.
Talking to reporters, Nagam criticised the Speaker's decision to remove the Assembly Media Point from where the elected representatives of different political parties used to speak to the media. He said the removal of media point would create problems for the politicians like him who due to suspension could not go to TDP office or after resignation is accepted could not come to the Assembly Media Point to speak to the media.
The ex-TDP leader said the Speaker must have made some alternative before deciding to scrap the Media Point. He said former MLAs would find it difficult to approach the media to convey their opinion on matters of public importance. The major reason for removing the Assembly Media Point was to suppress the Telangana voice, he said.
Nagam also criticised the Congress MPs Lagadapati Rajagopal and K Samabasiva Rao for serving privilege notice to BJP leader Sushma Swaraj for her remarks on Telangana that she made in the Lok Sabha recently. He said anti-Telangana leaders were not leaving any efforts to suppress the Telangana voice at all levels.
Regarding the on-going CBI probe against Kadapa MP YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in disproportionate assets case, Nagam said YSR's political advisor KVP Ramchandra Rao played a major role in all the corrupt practices of YSR and Jagan Mohan Reddy. Therefore, the CBI must bring him under the ambit of it ongoing investigation, he demanded.
The suspended leader said that the Speaker is likely to take a decision on his resignation by Monday as all processes involved have been completed. (INN)
2011/11/12 6:40:27 Assembly Speaker Nadendla Manohar on Saturday accepted the resignations submitted by TDP MLAs Nagam Janardhan Reddy and N Prasanna Kumar Reddy.
Nagam Janardhan Reddy, who was elected from the Nagarkurnool seat in Mahabubnagar district in 2009 elections, was suspended from the Telugu Desam Party. On July 3 he along with three MLAs Jogu Ramamma, Venugopal Chary and Harishwar Reddy resigned to their MLAs' post demanding separate Telangana state. Later, he floated his own party Telangana Nagara Samithi.
It may be mentioned that Nagam approached the High Court on Friday seeking its intervention to ensure that the Speaker accepts his resignation. Earlier too, he staged protests before the Speaker's office demanding that his resignation be accepted. Finally, his resignation has been accepted on Saturday.
Similarly, MLA Prasanna Kumar Reddy was waiting for the Speaker's decision since a long time. He was elected from Kovvur assembly segment in Nellore district on TDP in 2009, but switched loyalties to the Congress. Consequently, the TDP lodged a petition before the Speaker seeking his disqualification. However, after the death of YS Rajasekhara Reddy he joined the YSR Congress party. Later, he submitted resignation from the MLA's post, which has been accepted by the Speaker on Saturday. (INN)

2011/9/7 7:44:02 Nagam Janardhan Reddy on Wednesday resigned from the primary membership of the Telugu Desam Party. It triggered en-masse` resignations with his supporters, including senior leaders like S Venugopala Chary, HarishwarReddy and Joguramma, following suit.
Dr Reddy who was suspended for anti-party activities had vacated his Nagarkurnool assembly seat, which is pending with the Speaker, demanding separate state for Telangana.
Nagam and others sent in their papers to the party chief N Chandrababu Naidu by e-mail.
Nagam had differences with Naidu over the latter’s silence eon the statehood issue. Stung by the criticism, the party suspended Dr Reddy from the party.

2012/2/22 21:19:42 The expelled TDP leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy, who once played a big drama by locking himself in the Dy.Speaker's chamber demanding for approval of his resignation letter, is now again contesting from Nagarkurnool constituency in the by-elections as an independent candidate supported by TRS party. The party president K.Chandrashekar Rao has told the media yesterday that, soon after the by-elections are over Nagam Janardhan Reddy will be inducted into TRS party. Hence, he asks his party cadres to work hard for his victory in the elections. KCR opined that, even though their MLAs attend the Assembly proceedings, since the Speaker is suspending them from the house, they need not to go to Assembly. Instead, he suggested them to concentrate on by-elections which are more important than Assembly proceedings.
Congress party MLA Chinna Reddy likened the TDP leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy to the famous Dog that is featured in the Hutch advertisements. Chinna Redy said that Nagam has this habit of saying that there are irregularities in all the irrigation projects.
Nagam is like the dog in the ad in which the tag line says wherever you go, out network follows, implying that Nagam is seen at every irrigation project site and complaining of irregularities.
