Our ultimate goal is ‘T’ not CM post : Damodar

Condemning the controversial statement of Minor Irrigation Minister T G Venkatesh that a separate Andhra Seva Sainik Dalam should be formed to protect Andhra people, Congress senior leader from Telangana region Mr R Damodar Reddy on Sunday stated that this type of statements would increase insecurity among people and create law and order problem.

Talking to media persons at Assembly Media Point, Damodar Reddy demanded that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, disqualify and drop the Minister from the Cabinet for making such infuriating statements and disturbing the situation.

Stating that the Telangana leaders are expecting a clear statement from Centre within a week, he said Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and PCC President Botsa Satyanarayana are holding discussions with the high command to find a favourable solution over the T issue.

He also condemned the statement of former Minister Mr J C Diwakar Reddy of power sharing formula between the Seemandhra and Telangana region, he said “We do not need any chief minister post. We want only Telangana state formation. Our ultimate goal is formation of separate state fulfilling the aspirations of people”.

Holding the Seemandhra people responsible for serious consequences, he suggested them to hold their tongue.
He further stated that there was no unity among the Seemandhra leaders and he recalled that North Andhra leaders did not turn up for the meeting convened by Seemandhra leaders in Vijayawada on Saturday.(INN)

My ultimate goal is not PM Post: Rahul

2012/2/6 16:12:10 The Prince in waiting Rahul Gandhi is given the task of bringing Congress party into power in Uttar Pradesh. For the first time he shown some maturity in his speeches, perhaps a well drafted speech that is no less to a commercial movie to grab the masses has made his job easy.

Addressing the people he said "My ultimate goal is not grabbing the PM chair nor I am obsessed with it. There are many seniors in the party who are obsessed with it. My obsession is to serve the poor people of the state. My intention in coming here is not to bag 200 seats for my party but to respond to people's needs. I don't bother whether we will get 2 seats or 200 seats, but wants to ensure the people get what they actually deserve. I believe these elections are not intended just for a change of guard, but to change the lives of Uttar Pradesh people, who have been betrayed for the last 22 years. I won't leave the state soon after the elections are over. I want to see the people of the state proudly stand on their feet."

Attacking on his rivals Samajwadhi party, Bahujan Samajwadhi party and BJP he termed them as goondas and thieves. He also ruled out of having any alliance after the election results.

Let us how honest is he about his speech and his statements about alliance.

    Filmi couples' clash averted

    2007/9/18 1:05:46

It looked like both Jab We Met and Dhan Dhana Dhan… Goal would release on October 26.

With Jab We Met getting shifted to October 26 and UTV also locking the same date for Dhan Dhana Dhan… Goal, it looked like the week would witness the clash of two real-life couples. While Jab We Met stars Shahid Kapur and Kareena Kapoor, Goal re-unites John Abraham and Bipasha Basu on the big screen. But the clash has been averted…

UTV has decided to shift Goal to November 23, not for of any other reason, but because the post-production work is still pending. Confirms Siddharth Roy Kapur of UTV, “The post is taking more time than we anticipated. Since the film has shaped up wonderfully well, we didn’t want to hurry up things just because we have to meet the deadline. November 23 seems more practical for Goal.”

Meanwhile, UTV had acquired the global distribution rights of Firoz A Nadiadwala’s comic caper Welcome and are looking at bringing it on December 7.

    Botsa spits fire on Eenadu

2012/3/23 23:40:29 PCC President Botsa Satyanarayana got raged with a news item published in leading Telugu daily Eenadu news in its Friday edition, which writes that he has resigned to PCC Chief Post owing moral responsibility for the defeat in by-elections.

Speaking to media he said "Eenadu news paper is writing against me since a long time, but I have never bothered about it as I believe that people very well know what the truth is. But, yesterday it dares to write that I have resigned to my PCC Chief post. It is part of a conspiracy to defame me and then to bring down from my post. Perhaps, someone who wants me out is encouraging all this or it has some one in its mind to replace me. That's why it is publishing false news against me. After all, why should I resign to my post owing moral responsibility for the defeat in the by-elections? People alone can take the ultimate decision about whom to allow in the chair and whom to kick out of it. It is not a news paper or some person who can decide about it. The Eenadu reporter has phoned me 8 times asking me whether I have resigned to my post. After all, why the news paper is so eager about my resignation? Although, I have made it clear that I have not resigned, the news paper has published false news about me. What is its intention behind publishing false news against me? "

Damodar insulted T people by accepting Dy CM’s post: BJP

2011/6/19 3:15:45 Accusing Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha of having insulted the people of Telangana, senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Ch Vidyasagar Rao on Sunday alleged that he was elevated to the post as part of a conspiracy hatched by Congress leaders to ‘water down’ the Telangana agitation.

Talking to media persons after taking part in the Vanta Varpu programme at Liberty Circle in response to the call by the Telangana Political Joint Action Committee, Mr Vidyasagar Rao said that Mr Rajanarasimha had fallen prey to the Congress’s machinations and had accepted the post of Deputy Chief Minister.

“He has insulted by people of Telangana by accepting the post. Being from Telangana, Mr Rajanarasimha should have never accepted the post and instead pushed for separate statehood,” the senior BJP leader said.

However, Mr Vidyasagar Rao made it clear that no one can stop the agitation for the separate state by luring them with posts and other inducements.

“The leaders from Seemandhra region, who had violated the Gentlemen’s Agreement made in 1956, are now making efforts to douse the Telangana agitation,” he added.

The BJP leader also objected to the statement issued by Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal that Seemandhra leaders would get more than 245 seats if the elections were conducted to Assembly on the issue of bifurcation of the state.

Mr Vidyasagar Rao described the statement as ‘provocative and hurtful.’

He also expressed confidence that Vanta Varpu programme would help in mounting pressure on the Centre to introduce T Bill in Parliament in the Monsoon Session.

Another senior BJP leader Bandaru Dattatreya blamed the Telangana Congress leaders for their lack of commitment towards Telangana state formation. “If the Telangana Congress leaders submit their resignations en mass, Telangana could have been achieved long ago,” Mr Dattatreya opined.

A large number of BJP leaders and women participated in the Vanta Varpu programme. They prepared meals for about a 1000 persons. (INN)

    No Deputy CM!

    2010/12/2 1:13:38

The high command has done a volte-face on the issue of giving deputy chief minister’s post to Telangana.

The names of Geeta Reddy, Damodar Rajanarasimha, Ponnala and Jana Reddy did the rounds as possible contenders for the deputy chief minister’s post.

However the high command has literally drawn the curtain over the issue of deputy chief minister by saying that there is no plan to appoint anyone at this point of time. A decision on this will be taken only after a couple of months – i.e. around February 2011.

The congress leaders and MLAs from Telangana are crying foul and plan to go to Delhi and lodge their protest strongly.

Bipasha plays Pakistani girl in 'Goal'

    2007/5/17 23:01:51

After Preity Zinta and Kareena Kapoor, it is Bipasha Basu's turn to play a Pakistani girl in new film 'Goal' in which the Bengali beauty also gets to share screen space with real-life beau John Abraham after a long time.

'What makes it special is the fact that John and I are coming together after three years. The last film we did together was 'Madhoshi'. After that I was determined to do only a good film with him,' Bipasha told.

'Also, in 'Goal' I play a Pakistani girl. I wanted to make sure that whenever we come together again our chemistry mustn't be a repeat of 'Jism'. In 'Goal' our chemistry is completely different.'

She has played a Muslim girl before but not a girl from the other side of the border. 'This is my first role as a Pakistani. But I've played a Muslim girl in 'Ishq Hai Tumse'. I got to play a very sweet girl in that.

'I've never played anything like this. Though the focus of the plot is the game of football, I do have a substantial role to play. I'm excited about 'Goal' not only because it's got John in it, but also because my character stands out.'

There is the sorry spectacle of the huge talent of Zakir Hussain wasted in a mandatory role. KCR misguiding people: Damodar Reddy

2011/11/1 5:30:19 Former minister and MLA R Damodar Reddy on Tuesday stated that the Telangana state formation would be possible only with political process only.

Talking to media persons after hoisting tri-colour while wearing a black dress at his residence in Suryapet in Nalgonda district as part of State Formation Day, Damodar Reddy expressed confidence that the high command would resolve the impasse on Telangana only through political process. He slammed Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao for luring MLAs from the Congress party and Telugu Desam Party in the name of Telangana statehood and increasing its strength in the region.

Damodar Reddy said that the TRS was cheating the Congress and TDP MLAs in the name of Telangana agitation and misguiding people to protect its own selfish interests. He also suspected KCR’s commitment over the Telangana state. KCR is not ready to agitate for statehood by keeping his party flag aside with other parties, he stated.

Stating that these types of 'cheap political tricks' would divert the attention of the people from statehood agitation, he asked the MLAs to reconsider their decision before quitting their parties and falling in the TRS trap. He alleged that a few MLAs from the Congress and TDP had a secret pact with TRS over their quitting.

Damodar Reddy also stated the general strike of employees for the cause of statehood did not achieved its purpose except causing lot of inconvenience to people of region. (INN)

Governor clears Damodar’s name as Dy CM

2011/6/10 9:56:40 Governor ESL Narasimhan on Friday signed the file appointing Higher Education Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha as the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, according to reliable sources.

The file has been forwarded to the Chief Ministers Office from the Raj Bhavan.

The sources say that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy is likely to make the appointment of Mr Rajanarasimha as his Deputy public by Friday evening.

Mr Rajanarasimha is likely to take charge as the Deputy Chief Minister within a couple of days.

The Higher Education Minister already handles the charge of the Agriculture portfolio after the resignation of the former minister YS Vivekananda Reddy after his term as Member of the Legislative Council came to an end.

He hails from the Scheduled Caste community (Madiga) from Telangana region.

The Congress High Command had in the recent past effected some major changes in the state party machinery, naming Transport Minister Botsa Satyanarayana as the new PCC chief and elevating Deputy Speaker Nadendla Manohar to the Speaker’s post.

Former Government Whip Bhatti Vikramarka has been chosen as Mr Manohar’s Deputy.

The major changes are attributed to the drubbing received by the party in the by-elections to the Kadapa Lok Sabha and Pulivendula Assembly segments.

Besides the elevation of Mr Rajanarasimha, a major Cabinet reshuffle is likely within the next 10 days, party sources say.

Mr Damodar Rajanarasimha was elected to Assembly from Andole Constituency, Medak district for the third time in succession in the 2009 General Elections.

He has earlier served as Minister for Marketing during Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s rule in 2004-2009 and continued in the same post in Mr Rosaiah’s Cabinet.

Mr Rajanarasimha was named the Higher Education Minister by Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy in the minor Cabinet reshuffle earlier in the year.

He is an engineering graduate from Osmania University and had even taken the final interviews of the Civil Services. However, he was not selected due to some technical reasons.

Mr Rajanarasimha is married to Ms C Padmini and has a daughter.

    HPRC annex Chief Minister's Cup

2011/9/12 8:27:59 In a hard-fought final, the experience of Dhruvapal Godhara and national polo team captain, Sameer Suhag came in handy and helped HPRC to stage a magnificent rally to lift the Chief Minister’s Cup at the Bison Polo Ground here on Monday.

In a nail-biting finish, HPRC prevailed over an equally determined NDA-Al Almoudi 7 ½ -6.

RC HPRC went into the game with a ½ goal handicap. Contrary to expectations, it was Indian Navy-Al Almoudi which shot to the lead in the second minute. To add to the woes of the eventual champions, the opponent’s extended the lead to 2-½.

However, HPRC proves that they would not it lying low. They came back strongly on the individual brilliance of Dhruvpal Godhara, who reduced the margin with his first goal. The match swung from one side to the other before the Navy team added one more to its kitty.

Later, Sameer, local hope Rahit Reddy made it 3½ -4 before Dhruvapal scored the fourth goal in the third chucker on a penalty.

Subsequently, the determined HPRC players launched an offensive. Although, Dhruvapal and Manupal scored a goal each for their respective side, it was the former who clinched the issue by scoring the team’s seventh goal to seal the team’s all-round superiority. (INN)

Damodar differs with Saraiah on YSR threatening call

2012/4/19 7:01:49 Hyderabad, April 19 (INN): Former minister R Damodar Reddy on Thursday differed with Backward Classes Welfare Minister Basavaraj Saraiah's allegation that he had received a threatening call from former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy when he was planning to conduct a meeting for Telangana cause in Warangal district.

Talking to media persons at the Congress Legislature Party Office, Damodar Reddy said that Saraiah might have leveled such an allegation against YSR at his 'personal level.' When he organized a massive convention in 1998, Damodar Reddy said that YSR attended the programme as PCC chief and never spoke against the Telangana demand. Even YSR encouraged us to organize conventions for the separate statehood, he said.

Later, YSR wrote a letter to Congress president Sonia Gandhi appealing her to take a decision on Telangana statehood demand in 2001, he pointed out. As part of understanding, he said that YSR tied up with Telangana Rashtra Samithi promising to give Telangana State in 2004 elections. He asked as to why Basavaraj Saraiah, who failed to raise his voice then, was now leveling allegations against YSR.

Damodar Reddy said that he has appealed to Vayalar Ravi to ask the Congress High Command to issue a clear statement on Telangana statehood instead of dragging the issue. Due to this delay, he said that the people in the region have turned against the Congress leaders. If the high command makes a clear statement favouring Telangana, he said that the Telangana leaders would be able to visit their constituencies and make efforts for strengthening the party.

People will not vote for TDP in by-elections: Damodar Reddy

2012/2/27 2:48:04 Hyderabad, Feb 27 (INN): Former minister R Damodar Reddy on Monday stated that the people of Telangana region would not vote for the Telugu Desam Party in the by-elections scheduled to be held on March 18.

Talking to media persons at Assembly media point, he alleged that the TDP has cheated the people of Telangana region by adopting ambivalent stand on the issue and obstructed the formation of Telangana state. He said that the TDP should give an explanation to people of region before going for campaign in the by-elections. If the TDP fails to give an explanation, he said that the party's candidates will lose their deposits in the by-elections.

Damodar Reddy said that the people of region would vote for the Congress party as they knew that only Congress could make a favourable decision on statehood for Telangana region. He said that the Congress leaders from the region would meet the High Command after the conclusion of assembly's budget session to mount pressure on the issue.
