    2011/9/20 3:48:09

The police on Tuesday arrested Telangana Jagruthi president K Kavitha and other activists when they tried to picket the State Legislative Assembly along with government lecturers.

After expressing solidarity with the members of Telangana Lecturers Sangham, who are sitting on a dharna at Telangana Martyrs Memorial at Gun Park, Kavita along with government lecturers formed a human chain in front of the Assembly blocking the entire traffic. Later, raising Jai Telangana slogans, Kavita tried to barge into the assembly premises.

Kavita also condemned police high handedness on students of Osmania University and Nizam college students on Monday. She alleged that the State Government was trying to use force to suppress the Telangana agitation. Big fight in KCR family

    2010/10/27 6:19:19

The TRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao is now facing big trouble on the home front. The trouble is in the form of his son K Tarak Rama Rao and daughter Kavita.

The son and daughter are now in a fierce fight to position themselves as the future successor to KCR.

Whiel Kavita is hogging the limelight with her controversial acts and threats KTR has now upped the ante.

While Kavita managed to garner a lot of mileage – good and bad with her ‘Koti Bathukammala Panduga’ KTR has now raised the issue of the statue of Komaram Bheem.

KTR’s threat to demolish the statues of the Telugu stalwarts installed on Tank Bund is nothing but a gimmick to corner some media lime light and divert the attention from Kavita.

One can expect more such moves by Kavita and KTR in the coming days in their bid to outshine one another.

ACB arrests Excise officials and liquor syndicates

2012/1/29 8:16:49 In an unpredicted move Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) raids liquor syndicates and excise officials' houses and arrests many officials, Excise constables, syndicate owners, and their staff for making huge loss to Government treasury with their bribery practices.

ACB has conducted raids at Visakha, Srikakulam, Prakasham, Guntur and Nellore districts and arrested 7 Excise Officials and 22 syndicate owners. All of they were charged with bribery, running syndicates against rules and thus making loss to treasury. Among the arrested are Excise CIs, ACs, DCs, ESs and Head constables.

Officials in Excise department and the Liquor merchants flay ACB for arresting as if they are thieves. They said they are the main sources for Government's revenue, yet being treated as thieves. They condemn the arrests and the way they have been treated. Several liquor shops running under the syndicates have closed the shops in protest against the arrests.

However, the ACB stands firm on its action.

But, many of them syndicate owners are with the opinion that it is nothing but a strategic political move made by a key person in the Government, who wants to show his rivals what he can do if they try to play political games with him. The selective raids and arrests of particular people in particular places by ACB is itself considered an indication of the strategy.
