Will not resign on T like last time: JC

Former minister and senior Congress leader JC Diwakar Reddy on Wednesday said that he would not resign, but instead obey whatever decision the High Command takes on the separate statehood demand.

Talking to media persons on Assembly premises after returning from New Delhi, Mr Diwakar Reddy said that, “There is no question of me resigning from my elected post. Unlike the last time, I will not resign this time around, but instead would accept the High Command’s decision on Telangana.”

Describing the Telangana issue as a sensitive one, the senior leader stated that the Centre would find a solution to it soon. He added, “Seemandhra leaders are bound to obey the Centre’s decision.”

Mr Diwakar Reddy had tendered his resignation to protest against the December 9, 2009 statement made by Union Home Minister P Chidambaram in which he had said that the process for formation of Telangana had begun. The spate of resignations by the Seemandhra leaders at that time had forced the Centre to constitute the Srikrishna Committee.

Emphasising that the expanding the Cabinet is the prerogative of the Chief Minister, the former minister said that he is in contention for a berth in the Council of Ministers. “We are all in contention for a Cabinet berth. However, the choice of Ministers is the prerogative of the Chief Minister,” Mr Diwakar Reddy said.

He added, “the Chief Minister can any take any decision on accommodating and dropping Ministers from his Cabinet, based on their performance. No one can interfere in this.”

Responding on actor-turned-politician K Chiranjeevi’s statement that he would become Chief Minister one day, Mr Diwakar Reddy said that everyone aspires for posts and they want to come up in life.

When asked about YSR Congress Party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s Odarpu Yatra, the former minister stated that, “I will gladly host Mr Jaganmohan Reddy if he stays in Tadipatri.” (INN)

    Danam exposes Kodandaram

    2011/9/23 8:57:11

Kodandaram may be the chairman of the T-JAC but he is not held in awe by many as it is made out to be. Kodandaram along with KCR has been in the forefront in asking congress MLAs, MPs and ministers to resign.

Minister Danam Nagender stumped Kodandaram when he asked Kodandaram to resign his job as professor first and then ask others to resign. Kodandaram of course has no answer to this and he is acting as if everything is normal.

    KCR sings a different tune

2008/2/14 9:34:36 The TRS chief K Chandrasehkar Rao is now very confused about the future course of action. He has asked is party MLAs and MPs to resign. They are expected to resign after the budget session.

But what next after that is the question that has been dogging the minds of the party leaders as the workers. Some are openly saying that what they could not achieve as ministers and MLAs, how can they achieve anything by sitting at home?

So KCR has once aging started playing his old trick. Whenever he is cornered or down in the dumps, he unleashes a vitriolic attack on the congress. This time KCR says that the congress party is trying to create communal disturbances in Hyderabad!

Yedurappa wants to resign on auspicious day

2011/7/28 21:18:48 We have reported that Karnataka Chief Minister Yedurappa has resigned to his post on Thursday evening. But, it is learnt that he has changed his mind in the last minute on the advice of his numerologist who advised him to resign on or after 31st of this month that is end of Ashadam month and the beginning of auspicious Sravana masam. But, the opposition parties in the state describe it as buying of time to hush up some complicated cases before quitting his post.

Does the time for Cong. running out?

2011/8/26 8:54:11 MLC Jupudi Prabhakar Rao has predicted that there is much scope for a mid-term elections rather than by-elections.

He told the media 25 more MLAs from Congress party are ready to resign soon. But, he didn’t say why they want to resign and who are they. Perhaps, he is mentioning about Telangana Congress MLAs who already once submitted their resignation letters but were not approved by the speaker.

Since, the Telangana agitation slows down these days due to various reasons, they are not insisting to approve their resignation letters. But, once the agitations catch momentum in the next phase, no doubt they will come under sever pressure from TRS and pro Telangana leaders and then they will have no other option but to resign. This will again unbalance the ruling Congress party in the state and leads to mid term elections and certainly not by-elections as bluffing by Congress party.

Unless, CM Kiran Kumar Reddy and PCC president Botsa Satyanarayana wakes up now, it will be too late to do anything then. That’s why they have not approved Jagan group MLAs resignation letters until now and trying to lure and make them tense with their regular tactics. But, the state Congress party should understand that, all they got is a month or two before they understand their time is over. Then they will also understand that Chiranjeevi alone can't make them cross the river as he does in his films.

Who should resign first MLAs or Ministers?

    2011/9/10 7:06:23

Congress MLAs from the region have adopted a new strategy to escape criticism from pro-Telangana activists for not resigning afresh from their posts.

In the meeting of Telangana Congress Steering Committee held here on Sunday, the Congress MLAs have decided to pressurise the ministers from the region to resign from the cabinet. Briefing reporters after the meeting, Congress MLA T Rajaiah said that the ministers would be asked to submit their resignation directly to the Governor. "Once the ministers resign from the cabinet, then all MLAs will follow the suit and resign from their assembly membership," Rajaiah said.

Sources say that the Congress MLAs were critical that Telangana minister intelligently resigned from their MLAs post while retaining their cabinet berth. They would have remained ministers for six month, in case the Speaker would have accepted the resignations submitted by all MLAs. But the scenario would have been different if they would have submitted their resignations from the cabinet directly to the Governor. Therefore, this time the Congress MLAs want the ministers to lead from the front and resign from the cabinet first.

In response to the MLAs decision, Minister Komatireddi Venkat Reddy announced that he would submit his resignation letter directly to the Governor, if the Central Government fails to take a positive decision with regard to separate Telangana state by September 30. It may be mentioned that Komatireddi is the lone minister from the Telangana region who did not participate in the last cabinet meeting and is not attending official duties.

On the other side, 11 other ministers who submitted resignation letters from the MLA's post resumed their duties after their resignation was rejected by the Speaker. Two other ministers - Danam Nagender and Mukesh Goud did not submit resignation. (INN)

    Surekha call for resignations

    2011/1/7 1:11:34
The die hard follower of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and former minister Konda Surekha has thrown a challenge to Telangana Congress MLA and MPs asking them to resign from their posts if they are really sincere about Telangana cause.

She said, “If, still we want to retain our posts and as well as demand for separate state it would be a big joke of the year. We have to sacrifice our posts for Telangana cause. I am ready to resign to my MLA post. Are you all people in Congress ready to resign now? Unless, we tender our resignation letters, it’s not possible to achieve statehood for Telangana. I once again ask you all to resign and pressurize the party high command in favor of Telangana state.”

She might have sincerely advised the Congress leaders, but, being in the Jagan’s camp others see her action as a Jagan’s hand in Surekha’s glows. However, all the Telangana Congress leaders, MLAs and Ministers had a meeting at Nizam club to discuss their future course of action regarding the T issue. Some of them suggested sending a committee to New Delhi to give their representation to Sonia Gandhi in this regard. But, it’s learnt that majority of them have opposed the idea.

Madhu Yaskhi threatens to resign from Congress

2012/5/20 7:08:09 Nizambad, May 20 (INN): Congress MP Madhu Yaskhi Goud on Sunday announced that he would resign from the party and post if the Centre fails to announce a favourable decision on Telangana statehood by July this year.

Talking to reporters, the Nizambad MP made it clear that he would resign from the primary membership of Congress party and also from the Lok Sabha membership if the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre fails to decide on Telangana. However, he hoped that the Congress would take a decision in favour of formation of Telangana State.

Madhu Yaskhi said that by July this year, the Centre would be in a position to take a fair decision on the statehood issue. The results of by-elections would be declared on June 15 and this would also clear the political uncertainty prevailing in the State. Therefore, he said he would resign from the party and post if Centre fails to decide on Telangana by July.

The Congress MP said that after resignation, he would participate in the statehood agitation with the support of non-political entities and organise programmes like 'Walk for Telangana'.

Minister resigns and flayed for it

2011/3/3 2:55:22 Endowment Minister Jupalli Krishna Rao reacting to the comments made by his colleague Kavuri Sambhasiva Rao who criticized the Telangana Congress leaders are afraid to resign to their minister posts, has declared that he is resigning to his minister post and sending his resignation letter to Sonia Gandhi. He said “I already told several times that, I am ready to resign to my post any time. Since, we were blamed of being selfish and hanging to our minister posts, I have decided to resign to my post to prove my sincerity towards Telangana cause. I am sending resignation letter to our Sonia Madam demanding to take a decision on Telangana issue before this Parliament budget sessions concludes. If failed, then I will submit resignation letter to state Governor and insist for its approval. But, in the mean time I will discharge my duties as usually.”

When, some media people asked him whether he is resigning for his post only because he is not satisfied with his portfolio and the several problems he is facing from his department, Jupalli condemned them as mere guess work.

But, all his Seemandhra colleagues are seeing it as a big farce, because he send his letter to Sonia Gandhi instead of submitting to Governor for approval. They flay him for his decision to discharge his duties as a Minister, even after submitting his resignation letter.

Nagam plays high drama for resignation approvals

2011/10/1 7:03:33 Suspended TDP MLA Nagam Janardhan Reddy along with three other TDP MLAs - Harishwar Reddy, Jogiramana and Venugopal Chary locked themselves in a cabin near the Speaker Nadendla Manohar peshi in the State Legislative Assembly premises on Saturday.

They announced that they would not come of the cabin unless the Speaker accepts their resignations. The assembly staff and security personnel were both surprised and shocked by this novel protest, especially at a time when the Speaker is not in town. The local police is not empowered to enter the premises unless asked by the Speaker and the assembly staff on their own cannot evict the MLAs.

Earlier, talking to reporters Nagam said a member of the legislative assembly he has a right to resign to his post and it would be unconstitutional to reject his resignation if it was submitted in the correct format. However, Nagam said the Speaker has been delaying the decision on their resignations for a very long time, which was unprecedented.

The former minister also clarified that he did not resign to enforce by-elections and re-contest from the same seat. "We have resigned from our posts to create constitutional crisis so as to pressurise the Centre on announcing statehood for Telangana region," he said. Nagam asked the Political and Students JACs to pressurise all the elected representatives from the region to resign afresh so that pressure could be mounted on the State and Centre Governments. Jagan has never asked us to resign: Amarnath

2011/9/14 5:15:26 Rajampet MLA Amarnath Reddy on Wednesday claimed that the YSR Congress party president and Kadapa MP Jagan Mohan Reddy never asked any MLA to resign from the posts. However, it was due to their love and affection towards the former Chief Minister Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy that the MLAs have submitted their resignation voluntarily, he said.

Talking to mediapersons, Amarnath Reddy said that Jagan Mohan Reddy never intended to destabilise the present Congress government or tried to bring revolt within the Congress party. But 26 Congress MLAs who were angry over the inclusion of YSR's name in the FIR of Central Bureau of Investigation in Jagan's disproportionate assets case unanimously decided to resign from their post. "Jagan never asked us to resign and he was never consulted on this issue," he said.

Amarnath Reddy claimed that it was the individual decision and the YSR Congress party was not responsible or behind their resignations. He said there was no question of going back on resignation. "We will not withdraw resignations at any cost," he said. He predicted that many more Congress MLAs would resign in protest against the injustices being done to YSR and his family members. He said the Congress leaders should never forget that it was YSR who brought the Congress party to power for two consecutive terms.

Rajampet MLA said that the Congress and TDP leaders were conspiring to malign the image of Jagan Mohan Reddy and levelling baseless allegations against him. He described the on-going CBI case against Jagan as part of the Congress plot to tarnish the image of Jagan. (INN)

    KCR, what next?

    2008/3/3 6:00:42

The TRS MPs resigned their membership of Lok Sabha today. The TRS MLAs are expected to resign from the assembly tomorrow. KCR hopes to put pressure on the congress party. But going by the previous experience, there is nothing much that KCR can do now.

Many analysts feel that the resignation of TRS MPs and MLAs and MLCs may not have any big impact on state politics. The elections are due in about a year. All that KCR can do now is to go to town about this. But he has been doing it for quite some time and it would be a big challenge to keep up the momentum.

The response to some of the rallies undertaken by KCR in the recent past has been rather lukewarm. The congress party is happy that KCR has asked his party men to resign. The congress party can now heave a sign of relief as there would not be any TRS legislators in the assembly to disrupt the proceedings and sling mud on Rajashekar Reddy during the rest of the session of the assembly.

    Did Pocharam won to resign?

2011/10/21 5:28:23 Nowadays, contesting elections and resigning the next day has become a child's play for our MLAs and MPs. While, some resign demanding Telangana state, some others resign throwing challenge to their rivals. None of them takes the people who elect them into their consideration before throwing their resignation letters to speaker.

The same way, once an MLA or MP seat in a constituency is vacated, the same political parties put their candidates in the contest to display their influence and command over the people. Banswada bye-elections are one fine example for it.

When, Pocharam Srinivasa Reddy has migrated from TDP to TRS, he has resigned to his Banswada MLA post. Then, once again he has contested in the same constituency on TRS flag and won the elections and once again sworn in as Banswada MLA on Friday.

While rest of his party (TRS) MLAs have slams their resignation letters at speaker long time ago, he sworn-in as new MLA from the same party. In the wake of their resignation letters, will he again resigns to his MLA post or stick to it against his party's policy.

Shall this game of contesting and resigning continue at the cost of public expense? Why the people should elect such leaders who make joke of democratic process? May it be for Telangana cause or some other cause, shall we afford to keep this show on forever? If, so who will be the losers? The leaders or the people who elect them again and again?

Rosaiah who was in Puttaparthi was accosted by party men who where objecting to the high handed behaviour of the security personnel.

Rosaiah tried to reason with them that the security men were only doing their job and in no way trying to obstruct party workers from meeting him. This did not satisfy the workers and they continued to raise slogans.

An angry Rosaih reacted by saying that if they would be satisfied if he offers to resign then he is ready to do so.

    Mopidevi refuses to resign

2012/2/8 14:37:01 Hyderabad, Feb 8 (INN): Excise Minister Mopidevi Venkata Ramana has refused to resign from the post following allegations that he received bribe from the liquor syndicate.

Talking to reporters at the State Secretariat after meeting Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, the minister denied the allegations and said that the inclusion of his name in the report of Anti-Corruption Bureau was part of a larger conspiracy.

It may be mentioned that in the remand report of an ACB dealer Nunna Venkata Ramana, the accused has alleged that he personally paid bribe of Rs 10 lakh to the Excise Minister. However, Mopidevi denied receiving any bribe and made it clear that he would not resign based on the allegations made a person with criminal background. Claiming that there was not truth in the allegations, he said that he was ready for any kind of probe.

Mopidevi criticised the ACB officials for including his name based on the confessional statement of an accused. "Will they also include the names of President of India or the Chief Minister, if some accused names them in a scam?" he questioned.

The Excise Minister said that the ACB should have questioned him before including his name. However, he said he was ready to face any action if proved guilty.

Resign as MLA: Motkupalli to Nagam

2011/6/24 3:16:28 Telugu Desam Deputy Floor Leader in the Assembly Motkupalli Narasimhulu on Friday told suspended leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy to resign as an MLA before making any allegations against party president N Chandrababu Naidu on the issue of a separate state.

“Mr Janardhan Reddy should resign from his elected post if he has any guts, which he was elected on the TDP ticket, before he makes any baseless allegations against Mr Chandrababu Naidu,” Mr Narasimhulu told media persons at the NTR Trust Bhavan.

He was reacting to Mr Janardhan Reddy’ allegations against Mr Naidu that he was one of the main obstacles in the creation of Telangana since he was not writing a letter to Union Home Minister P Chidambaram that the TDP has no objections if Andhra Pradesh was bifurcated.

Mr Narasimhulu said, “Mr Janardhan Reddy has no moral right to make allegations against Mr Chandrababu Naidu. He was elected on the TDP ticket. He should resign from the Assembly first.”

The TDP leader further condemned Mr Janardhan Reddy for alleging that Mr Chandrababu Naidu was driving out anyone who raised ‘Jai Telangana’ slogans from the party. “There is no truth to the allegations. Mr Janardhan Reddy is making baseless allegations against Mr Naidu since he has conspired with YSR Congress Party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy,” Mr Narasimhulu said.

Hinting that it was the YSR Congress Party which was backing Mr Janardhan Reddy financially, Mr Narasimhulu demanded that the suspended leader should disclose the sources of money which ensured that the Ranabheri programmes could be organised in Telangana region.

“After quitting the TDP on the separate Telangana issue, Mr Janardhan Reddy imagined that he would become a hero in the hearts of people of the region. However He has become a zero in the hearts of Telangana people and no one is bothered about him,” Mr Narasimhulu said.(INN)
