    Platform for YSR statue dismantled

2011/1/22 21:01:11 The unveiling late YSR statues all over the state are leading to tensions among the people who belong to Jagan’s camp and the others. The same thing happened now again, this time in Mydakur in Kadapa district.

A platform constructed by Jagan’s loyalists to erect late YSR’s statue at Tupalli junction in Mydakur was dismantled by R&B and Police on Saturday mid night. The concerned officials stated that, they did so because if the statue is erected in that particular location, it will be obstructing the road widening program.

However, Jagan’s followers have blamed Minister DL Ravindra Reddy for encouraging the R&B officials for dismantling the platform. They said that, the selected location of the statue doesn’t fall in the way but it’s beside a bus stop, where no road can be widened beyond it.

Where is Big B's wax figure today?

    2007/1/7 7:56:48

A copy of the wax figure of Amitabh Bachchan, identical to his statue at Madame Tussaud's in London, was flown down to Mumbai and unveiled by Big B himself at the Filmfare Awards, 2001. So, where is the statue today?

Big B was clearly pleased with his wax look sake and took great pride in it. In fact, later, he unveiled the statue again in an episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati, especially for his game show audience.

Since then the statue found permanent residence in Big B's posh KBC office at Film City, where he kept it along with his other possessions. Needless to say, the statue was high-maintenance. Fifteen air-conditioners had to be kept on at a steady temperature 24/7, all through six years to conserve the wax statue in hot and humid Mumbai. In fact, during the 26/7 deluge in 2005, the first thing that staff of KBC's office had to worry about was the well-being of the statue as it would have been ruined if the office had gone down under.

However, things are different now. The vagaries of life have caught up with both the statue and its master. Now, Shah Rukh Khan is all set to sit on the chair that AB once occupied on KBC. Allegedly, AB was none too happy about this. And soon after he got news of his replacement, he got his KBC office cleared.

Samir Nair, CEO, Star Entertainment India, says, "Mr. Bachchan got his KBC office cleared some time back. He took away his statue, along with the rest of the clutter in the office."

A source close to Big B says, "The statue is very dear to him. Although Mr Bachchan is used to compliments and admiration, the statue is a gesture that touched him. The statue is now at Jalsa. But it's not on display."

So we come back to our original question. Where is Big B's statue today? Is it lying in his attic, with 15 air-conditioners looking after it there too, away from the gaze of guests, or is it in the basement?

The beheaded Amitabh Bachchan wax figure arrived in India on February 14, 2001. That was the best way, officials at Madame Tussaud’s had then said, to get the famous wax statue of the legendary actor across.

"The body is made partly of fibre glass and that will go in the hold," Diane Moon, from the famous wax museum, had said. "The head is far more delicate and I will be carrying that with me in the cabin."

The body travelled in 'a large wardrobe sized case'. The head, however, was another story. "It's very, very fragile," Moon had said.

"It will be kept securely in the cabin where I can keep an eye on it. It might be hot and humid in Mumbai and we'll have to keep an eye on his head. Too much heat could soften the head. But we don't believe it will be hot enough to start melting the wax."

    Nama Nageswarao held by police

2012/1/18 14:35:19 Tension prevailed in Khammam municipality when the police arrested TDP MP Nama Nageswara Rao after he unveiled the statue of Telugu Desam Party founder N T Rama Rao on the banks of a canal to mark his 16th death anniversary.

The district administration and police raised serious objection for installing the statue without the permission of the local municipality. However, the TDP activists had a heated argument with the police and district officials and unveiled the statue. With the situation going out of control, the police lathicharged the TDP activists and took the MP into custody. He was then shifted to Three Town police station. In protest against the arrest, the TDP activists later staged dharna in front of the police station. (INN)

2012/2/6 4:59:07 The statue-vandalizing-mania is still continuing in the state. Some miscreants in Mallepalli village in Mehboob Nagar district have damaged the statue of father of Nation Mahatma Gandhiji on yesterday night. Police have registered a case and start hunt for the miscreants. We have seen our national leaders and gods were humiliated in foreign countries by using their images at improper places. Sabitha slams Naidu for OMC's charges

2011/12/5 14:25:34 Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy challenged Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu to prove the allegations levelled against her in connection with the mining lease of Obulapuram Mining Corporation, with substantial proof.

Responding to Naidu's charges levelled against her and her family members during the discussion on the No Confidence Motion in the Assembly on Monday, the Home Minister stated that she was ready for any kind of probe. SRK unveiled at Madam Tussauds

    2007/4/4 23:39:48

Madame Tussauds witnessed a gala event to welcome Shah Rukh Khan, as his statue found abode in the prestigious Madame Tussauds wax museum. The long haul came to an end on 3rd April 2007, when his statue was unveiled before an excited audience.

Shah Rukh flew down to the London museum with wife Gauri Khan. The proud duo posed next to his wax statue, which looked like the exact replica of Khan, thanks to the precise measurements of his physical features taken earlier this year. Shah Rukh experienced a grand reception from the management.

As a part of the promotions, Madame Tussauds designed a typical Bollywood-style poster saying "Shah Rukh Khan stars in Madame Tussauds". The visitors had a chance to get their personalized copy of the Bollywood poster, after being photographed with the actor. Whether they would have been lucky enough to pose with SRK in person instead of his wax statue is uncertain! A 50-minute biopic showcasing Khan's journey to stardom was screened after the statue was uncovered. All in awe of Khan, the museum's library also stocked his pictorial biography Still Reading Khan.

SRK's wax statue stands tall in the museum now. It is hard to distinguish the real Khan from his imitation. The similarity between the two is simply outstanding!
