TDP seeks CBI's clarification for not arresting Jagan

2012/4/16 2:02:05 Hyderabad, April 16 (INN): The Telugu Desam Party on Monday asked the Central Bureau of Investigation to clarify as to why it has not arrested YSR Congress president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in the disproportionate assets case.

Addressing a press conference at NTR Trust Bhavan, TDP MLA M Revanth Reddy said that it was strange that the CBI has arrested the Accused No 2 Vijay Sai Reddy in the alleged illegal assets case, but has spared Accused No 1 - Jagan Mohan Reddy. He alleged that the CBI was acting at the behest of the Congress High Command and did not arrest Jagan following his secret pact with the Congress party.

Revanth Reddy said that the CBI should function independently and free itself from all political pressures to ensure free and fair investigations into various cases, especially in the Jagan's illegal assets case.

Countering a recent statement by YSR Congress party leaders that the party would come to power in the mid-term polls and would run the government with ethics and credibility, Revanth Reddy said that the words like 'ethics' and 'credibility' does not match Jagan's profile. He alleged that Jagan started lobbying for the Chief Minister even before YS Rajasekhara Reddy's body reached home from Nallamalla forest after helicopter crash.

Revanth Reddy said that Jagan did not bother to help the IAS officials who are now in jail for signing the GOs during YSR's regime. He said YSR Congress leaders have been making statements without looking into the past of Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Bollywood should look for stories in books: John Abraham

    2012/2/18 1:52:05

Mumbai, Feb 18 (IANS) Actor John Abraham feels that instead of getting inspired by Hollywood films, Bollywood filmmakers should start adapting stories from books.

"Most of the time, in our industry we get a lot of inspiration from other films, especially English films. But I think the best inspiration you can get is out of books," the 39-year-old said here at the launch of the book "In A Bubble of Time."

"Even English films that have done well, got their inspiration out of books. So I think it's important to read and get new ideas and I think that is where we are limiting ourselves," he added.

If John was to make a film based on a book, which one would that be?

"I have been a great fan of 20th century fiction and I love Jeffry Archer. So, I have read all his books and if I have to make a Hindi picture I would definitely make it on a Jeffrey Archer book," he said.

The actor had featured in the film "7 Khoon Maaf" which was based on Ruskin Bond's short story "Susanna's Seven Husbands".

John is currently gearing up for his next release "Housefull 2",

Arrest politicians involved in scams: VHR

2012/2/2 14:57:23 Congress MP V Hanumantha Rao on Thursday demanded that the Central Bureau of Investigation should arrest the politicians who were involved in the several scams presently being probed by the agency.

Talking to reporters, Hanumantha Rao said that although the CBI has arrested senior IAS officials and other big personalities who were allegedly involved in the APIIC-Emaar, Obulapuram Mining Corporation and other scams, no action has been taken against the politicians involved in these cases. He said the CBI should arrest the politicians, if they are also involved, in these scams.

Hanumantha Rao also criticised YS Vijayamma for writing a letter to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh regarding CBI probe against her son and YSR Congress president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. He said the arrest of Sunil Reddy in Emaar scam has sent the shockwaves and now Jagan fears that he too would be arrested soon.

The Rajya Sabha MP also denied the allegations that the Congress party was using the CBI to target political opponents. He said the on-going CBI probe against Jagan Mohan Reddy and others was initiated following the directions of the Andhra Pradesh High Court and the Central and State Governments or the Congress party had no role in CBI's investigation. CBI registers FIR against Jagan

2011/8/17 7:45:12 The Central Bureau of Investigation on Wednesday filed a First Information Report (FIR) against YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in the illegal assets case. The CBI has initiated the inquiry following an order from the High Court.

CBI's joint director VV Lakshmi Narayana earlier held discussions with the local authorities.

Based on separate petitions filed by Textile Minister Dr. P. Shankar Rao and TDP leader K. Yerran Naidu, the AP High Court had ordered the CBI to probe the alleged illegal assets that the Kadapa MP had amassed during his father's regime as the Chief Minister.

After the registration of FIR, there are speculations that Jagan Mohan Reddy might be arrested. The political analysts are also doing an analysis of a possible outcome of Jagan's arrests and the CBI case. In all likelihood, Jagan is likely to drag several leaders who were members of YSR cabinet into the controversy. Jagan has already stated that the entire cabinet of YSR must be held responsible for any decision taken during his regime.

The ongoing week is likely to be full of action with the possibilities of CBI arresting Jagan Mohan Reddy or conducted search in his premises at a large scale. (INN)

However, the CBI probe seems to have many surprises.
