Tulasi flays BJPs double speak on T

2011/7/27 10:49:29 Chairman, 20-Point Programme N Tulasi Reddy on Wednesday quoted Bharatiya Janata Party leader LK Advanis words made in 2000 that people had supported, with one voice, the declaration of Chhattisgarh, Uttaranchal and Jharkhand states and said that this is not the case in Andhra Pradesh presently.

Speaking to media persons at the Secretariat on Wednesday, Mr Tulasi Reddy ridiculed the current BJP leaders' assurance that separate Telangana state would be possible when their party came to power.

During their 5-year rule from 1999 to 2004, the BJP did not make any such attempt and now it was promising a separate state, Dr Tulasi Reddy said.

BJP leader and former Union Home Minister L K Advani himself categorically stated here on September 21, 2000 at a meeting organised by the National Industrial Security Academy, that UP, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar Assemblies had unanimously passed resolutions and decided for the formation of smaller states of Uttaranchal, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand, said Dr Tulasi Reddy.

Former Union Minister of State for Home Ch Vidyasagar Rao had also said on September 20, 2000 that division of Telugu people was impossible. there was lot of difference between the Telangana movement started 30 years ago and now, Mr Vidyasagar Rao had said in 2000, the Congress leader pointed out and added that merely for political mileage, the separate Telangana issue was being raised.

Because of such double standards adopted by the BJP, it lost the confidence of the people, the 20-Point Economic Programme chief said.(INN)
