Cong rivalries responsible for Amalapuram incident: CPI
Communist Party of India state secretary K Narayana on Thursday held the rivalries within the Congress party responsible for the desecration of Dr B R Ambedkar's statues in Amalapuram in East Godavari district.
Talking to media persons after hoisting the national flag at party office in Makhdhoom Bhavan to mark 63rd Republic Day celebrations, Narayana slammed the state government for not initiating action against those responsible for the incident. He alleged that the government did not take the incident seriously.
Narayana demanded that the government take effective measures to ensure that such incidents do not recur.
Regarding Telangana, he said that statehood for the region could be achieved if all parties make sincere and concerted efforts. If the parties and leaders remain divided on the issue, the state formation will be delayed further, he pointed out. (INN)

In protest against the incident, Dalits in the area staged dharnas and rallies and demanded a high-level probe into incident. The protestors sought stern action against those responsible for the incident.
Meanwhile, Major Industries Minister J Geetha Reddy, Revenue Minister N Raghuveera Reddy and government whip Kondru Murali Mohan on Monday appealed to Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy to take severe action against the guilty who damaged Ambedkar's statues.
Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy called up East Godavari Superintendent of Police Trivikram Verma and asked him to probe into the incident. She also directed the SP to arrest those responsible for the incident and form special teams to trace the culprits.
Meanwhile, the SP stated that the police have imposed Section 144 in Amalapuram for one week to prevent any untoward incidents. The RTC has cancelled its bus services to Amalapuram from Kakinada as a preventive measure.
Reacting on the incidents, MP Harsha Kumar stated that he would stand by his words that Dalits were not given prominent position during the cabinet expansion recently. He demanded probe into the incident and action against the guilty. (INN)
2012/1/24 14:32:39 Assembly Deputy Speaker Mallu Batti Vikramarka on Tuesday described the disfiguring of Dr B R Ambedkar's statues in Amalapuram as an assault on the Indian Constitution.
Talking to media persons at his chambers in the legislative assembly premises, Batti Vikramarka took serious note of the incident and stated that the State Government has already ordered probe into the incident and directed the police to trace the culprits, who are responsible for the incident.
Stating that the government was taking measures to ensure that such incidents are not repeated in future, he called upon all sections of people to observe restraint and help the police to maintain law and order.

2012/1/24 14:29:22 Senior Congress leader G Venkatswamy on Tuesday held State Government responsible for the desecration of Dr B R Ambedkar's statues in Amalapuram of East Godavari district.
Condemning the incident, Venkatswamy demanded constitution of a high level committee to probe into the incident and also to suggest measures to ensure that such incidents do not recur. Talking to reporters at his residence in Somajiguda, he demanded that the government take stern action against those who are held responsible for the incident.
Defending the Amalapuram MP G Harsha Kumar's remarks that the SC/ST communities were meted out with injustice during the recent cabinet expansion, he asked Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy to take steps to undone the injustice by giving them proper representation.
MP G Vivek said that some vested elements disfigured Dr Ambedkar's statues due to weak leadership of Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy. He demanded that the state government take steps for restoring the statues immediately and bring law and order situation under control.
Stating that the government was following anti-Dalit policies, he recalled the recent example of sacking of Handlooms and Textiles minister Dr P Shankar Rao. He also alleged that the government has been diverting funds meant for the welfare of the SC/STs. (INN)
2012/1/29 13:30:08 SR Congress party spokesperson and MLC Jupudi Prabhakar accused the State Government of having failed to prevent the desecration of Dr Ambedkar's statues in Amalapuram and other places.
Talking to media persons after he was arrested by the East Godavari police on Sunday for trying to visit Amalapuram, Prabhakar said that the government has totally failed to handle the issue which led to unnecessary violence. Claiming that he was visiting Amalapuram to know the latest situation, he condemned the police for arresting him and other activists. Republican Party of India president Bojja Tarakam was also arrested.
Prabhakar said that the he would raise the issue of statues' desecration during the next session of State Legislative Council.
It may be mentioned that the police has already imposed section 144 in Amalapuram and political leaders are being prevented from visiting the trouble-hit town. (INN)

According to Police spokesperson and Additional DGP (Law and Order) SA Huda, the government was very serious on taking action against those responsible for the Sangareddy communal strife that occurred on the night of March 29 and deal stringently with anyone found responsible for inaction. 2011/11/5 8:00:18 Sangareddy MLA T Jayaprakasha Reddy alias Jagga Reddy allegedly slapped a man when he complained of supply of rotten rice in the Rs 1-a-kilo rice scheme.
The incident happened in Sadashivpet during Rachabanda programme on Saturday. The MLA, Jagga Reddy, was reportedly unhappy with the man for raising the issue publicly and therefore, slapped him without realising that his actions were being recorded by the cameras of news channels. The victim was later identified as Chakali Balraj.
Condemning the incident, Backward Classes Parishath president MA Mujeeb said that since the man hailed from the Backward Classes, all BCs in the State would organise protests against the incident. (INN)
2012/3/21 3:20:05 Responding to a question Transport Minister Botsa Satyanarayana asked how his transport department could be made responsible for the school bus accident that happens in Kammam on yesterday.

2012/1/28 10:37:37 Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy on Saturday warned that the government would act sternly against those who were desecrating the statues of national leaders in the state and causing law and order problem.
Talking to media persons here, after having the darshan of Goddess Padmavathi Ammavaru at Tiruchanur, the Home Minister said that the government would not spare anybody, however high and mighty they were and take stern action against the guilty. She said that the police arrested three persons in this connection and that others would be traced soon.
Mrs Indira Reddy said the situation in Amalapuram had returned to normal and the additional police, deployed to maintain law and order, would be withdrawn in a phased manner.
She assured people that the government was taking all necessary steps to withdraw cases booked against students and activists who participated in the separate Telangana agitation. Cases would be lifted based on their nature and severity, she added.

2012/1/30 8:31:21 Telugu Desam Telangana Forum leader Motkupalli Narasimhulu and his supporters were arrested by the police when they staged a dharna at Tank Band in protest against the desecration of Dr BR Ambedkar's statues.
Narasimhulu and TDP activists staged dharna in front of Ambedkar statue on Tankbund and obstructed the traffic. Raising slogans against the state government, the TDP activists demanded that the government take stern action against those responsible for such acts and take steps for not recur of such incidents in future.
Talking to reporters after his arrest, Narasimhulu said that the government should order a judicial probe into incident with a sitting High Court judge to get a comprehensive report on the incident. Holding Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy responsible for the incidents, he sought his apology to Dalit communities in this regard.

All Cong leaders will not be responsible for by-polls results: Rayapati
2012/4/19 2:59:29 Hyderabad, April 19 (INN): Guntur MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao on Thursday said that except for the conveners and district in-charges, other Congress leaders should not be held responsible for the results of by-elections to be held in 18 assembly seats and one Parliament constituency.
Talking to reporters at the State Secretariat, Samabasiva Rao said that although all Congress leaders, especially the elected representatives, would campaign unitedly to ensure the victory of party's candidates, they should not be held responsible for the results. However, he expressed confidence that the party would win a majority of seats in the next by-elections.
Samabasiva Rao also denied allegations that the State Government was releasing more funds for the constituencies where by-elections are scheduled to be held. He said that the funds were being released for the works that were sanctioned in the Rachabanda and Praja Patha programmes.
The Guntur MP also clarified that he did not give any complaint against Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy during his meeting with Union Minister and party observer Vayalar Ravi. He said that the Chief Minister has been performing well and he had no complaints with him.
YS.Jagan Mohan Reddys tour across East Godavari district highlights the miserable state of farmers who were obliged to declare crop holiday for not getting fair returns for their products.
Jagan Mohan Reddy has reached Madhurapudi by plane around 10.30 am today. He is supposed to address the people at Amalapuram around 7 pm in the evening, but he was unable to reach the venue until midnight because of huge turn out all over his way. He conducts road shows at Ambaji Peta, Amalapuram Rural, Mummidivaram, Uppala Guptam and several other villages on his way to Amalapuram.
Addressing the people at Amalapuram city, he said He doesnt understand whether there is Government in the state or not and whoever is running it has totally lost control over it. It makes me feel very sad to see the farmers declaring crop holiday for the failure of the Government. It becomes a useless Government which cant help even farmers who feed the people of the country. Unless, we bring it down from power there will be no change in the situation.
During his first day of tour he met four families of farmers who commit suicide. 2012/1/24 9:56:43 Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana on Tuesday seriously condemned the incidents of Amalapuram wherein some statues of Dr B R Ambedkar were desecrated by some unidentified persons.
Talking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan, Botsa assured that the State Government would take stern action against the culprits. He appealed the people in the State, especially those living in and around Amalapuram, to maintain peace and harmony.
The PCC chief said that the Congress party will also seek an explanation from Amalapuram MP Harsha Kumar for making some comments against in-charge of State Congress Affairs Ghulam Nabi Azad.
Botsa also criticised TDP's deputy floor leader Gali Muddukrishnamma Naidu for his remarks against the Congress Coordination Committee. He said the opposition parties might criticise the government, but it was completely unfair on the part of TDP leader to comment on a political party's committee using unparliamentary language. He advised Gali to restrain from making derogatory comments against the ruling party and its leaders.
The PCC president also condemned cine actor Nandamuri Balakrishna who criticised Chiranjeevi's PRP merger with the Congress party. He said before making any comments against Chiranjeevi, Balakrishna should look into his past. He wondered how Balakrishna could work under the leadership of N Chandrababu Naidu who backstabbed party's founder and his father NT Rama Rao. He said unlike TDP, the Congress is not a family party.

2011/10/23 8:17:46 Former Endowment Minister Gade Venkata Reddy on Sunday held Archaeology Department responsible for the collapse of Gali Gopuram of Bhavanarayana Swamy temple in Bapatla in Guntur district.
Talking to media persons after inspecting the collapsed Gopuram, the former endowment minister alleged that the incident happened due to the negligence of Archaeology Department. Stating that during his stint he had sanctioned Rs One crore for the renovation of Bhavanarayana Swamy temple, he said that the officials of Archaeology Department should be held responsible for collapse of Gopuram.
Despite the sanctioning of Rs One crore the department failed to take proper steps for the maintenance and upkeep of oldest temple, built on a single rock, he said.
According to reports, the temple's main gate was closed to take up repairs since Thursday. Engineering experts from Bangalore came to take up repairs to the temple. Rajya Sabha member JD Seelam sanctioned Rs 10 lakh from MPs Local Area fund to take up repair works to temple and for construction of Gali Gopuram.
In the incident, which took place in the early hours of Sunday, no one was injured although some adjacent shops were damaged. (INN)

2012/5/11 7:07:59 Hyderabad, May 11 (INN): Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Friday ordered an inquiry into the death of four persons due to consumption of illicit liquor at Brahmanaveedhi in Vijayawada.
Directing the Krishna District Collector and Excise Superintendent to probe into the incident and submit a comprehensive report, Kiran Kumar Reddy expressed serious concern over the incidents. He also directed the District Collector to take steps to provide required medical treatment to other victims who are admitted in the hospital.
Asking the officials to take stern action against those responsible for the incident, the Chief Minister directed them to ensure that such incident do not recur.
According to reports, four persons - Kona Yesu, K Durga Rao, Tadepalle Koteswara Rao and E V Subrahmanyam, died after consumption of illicit liquor at Brahmanaveedhi in the old city of Vijayawada and two others - Prakash Rao and Nagaraj were affected and undergoing treatment at the hospital.
The police have already seized the liquor bottles from the location and sent them for laboratory examination.
Will TRS allow Cong and TTDP to steal its limelight?
2011/7/24 21:32:50 So far, TRS which enjoys upper hand in Telangana agitations and dictating terms to Cong and TDP in this regard, for the 1st time has been overpowered by both the parties with their new strategies. TTDP recently had a successful Bus Yatra in the Telangana and received an overwhelming response from the people for it. Then, it comes out with a separate new flag for its Telangana wing and plans to spearhead with it in the region to regain its lost glory.
On the other hand, Cong leaders who until now were under TRS and its leader KCRs influence has finally comes out of it and ready to bounce back to the region with their new flag and new strategies to grab the show.
Need not to say that TRS cant sit quite allowing the TDP and Cong. to steal its limelight that was built with years of hard efforts. Undoubtedly, this will leads to a big fight between the TRS, Cong and TDP. Unless, they avoid the clash between themselves and move united all their agitations will go into drain.

Call for educational institutions' bandh on Monday
2012/1/29 13:26:52 The opposition parties including the students' organisations have called for a state-wide bandh of educational institutions' on Monday in protest against the desecration of Dr B R Ambedkar statues at Amalapuram and other places.
The decision was taken during a round-table conference held at Sundaraiah Vignan Kendram here on Sunday. The conference was attended by the representatives of major opposition parties including M Narasimhulu of TDP, Nayani Narasimha Reddy of TRS, Venkat Reddy of CPM among others.
While condemning the incidents, the leaders demanded that the State Government take stern action against those responsible for the incidents. They also asked the government to take appropriate measures to ensure that such incidents do not recur.
The leaders have unanimously decided to call for educational institutions' bandh on January 30 in protest against the incidents. (INN)

Talking to media persons here, Botsa Satyanarayana said that the ministers concerned would be held responsible for decisions and they would face consequences. However, he said that the ministers could not be held responsible for behind the scene developments on issuing of GOs. He said that the government was ready to face any kind of investigation related to any issue.
Bosta also denied of having differences with Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy as being reported in media and said that they were working together to strengthen the party. He also said that there was nothing wrong in holding him and the Chief Minister responsible for the debacle in the by-elections.
The PCC chief said that YSR Congress was targeting the Congress party in order to save themselves from the CBI investigations.
Responding to increase in power tariff, he said that the party has never mentioned in the party manifesto in 2009 that it would not increase the tariff. (INN)
