T-TDP leaders slams PM for 'T' statement

    2011/11/13 13:06:17

The Telugu Desam Telangana Forum on Sunday lashed out at Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh for stating that statehood for Telangana could not granted unless there is consensus from all concerned.

It may be mentioned that the Prime Minister on his way back to India from the SAARC summit on Saturday night told reporters that the final decision on separate Telangana could not be taken unless there is consensus from all concerned.

The Forum members held an emergency meeting at the Telugu Desam Legislature Party office on Sunday to discuss the future course of agitation in view of the Prime Minister's statement. Later, talking to reporters Forum's convenor Errabelli Dayakar Rao announced that the TDP leaders from the region would burn the effigies of the Prime Minister and Congress president Sonia Gandhi in the headquarters of all 10 districts in Telangana.

Errabelli requested all pro-Telangana parties and leaders to join the TDT Forum in the agitation. He specifically requested the Telangana Rashtra Samithi to support the agitation. He said that the Prime Minister's statement is a clear indication that the UPA Government was against granting statehood agitation and have been delaying the decision on the issue citing lack of consensus as the reason.

The TDT Forum convenor accused the TRS of not being sincere towards the statehood cause. "TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao has been targeting the Prime Minister, Union Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and other leaders over the issue. But has maintained a questionable silence over Sonia Gandhi's role in the entire episode," Errabelli said. Describing Dr Manmohan Singh as a 'puppet', he said the Prime Minister has been doing and saying what he has been asked to do by Sonia Gandhi. Therefore, he demanded that the TRS break its silence on Sonia Gandhi's role in Telangana issue.

Errabelli demanded that all elected representatives from the region should resign from their posts and start a united fight for the statehood cause. He also appealed to Telangana Political Joint Action Committee chairman Prof M Kodandaram to stop targeting the TDP leaders and support them in the statehood agitation. He also asked the Congress leaders to spell out their stand in view of the Prime Minister's statement.

"The Prime Minister's statement has exposed that the Congress leaders were making false claims that the issue would be resolved after November 10," Errabelli said adding that the Congress leaders must stop making such claims which were aimed at misleading people of the Telangana region.

Former minister Kadiam Srihari said that the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre lacks clarity and different leaders have been contradictory statements on the Telangana issue. He said that the Srikrishna Committee has made elaborate consultations with all the concerned and therefore, no more consultations were required on the issue.
