Govn. looses house confidence: Pilli

Twenty-six MLAs of Congress party owing allegiance to beleaguered YSR Congress Party president and Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy on Monday submitted their resignations to MLAs posts and also from party primary membership.

Addressing media persons at Assembly premises former Congress minister Pilli Subhash Chandra Bose said that 26 Congress MLAs have submitted their resignations to Assembly Secretary Raja Sadaram as Speaker Nadendla Manohar was not available in his office. He said that the Congress leaders have submitted resignations protesting the inclusion of former chief minister YSR’s name in the CBI's FIR in the case related to Jagan Mohan Reddy's alleged disproportionate wealth case.

Apart from Congress 26 MLAs, one PRP MLA Shobha Nagireddy, two TDP MLAs Nallapureddy Prasanna Kumar Reddy and Y Bala Nagireddy have also submitted their resignations. He said that the MLAs have submitted resignations as they were unable to digest humiliation meted out to YSR, who brought back Congress party to the power in the State for two consecutive terms. He asked those Congress elected members, who are loyal to YSR, to submit resignations.

The MLAs alleged the Congress party hatched conspiracy to tarnish the image of YSR and implicate Jagan in fake cases in the garb of judiciary.

Earlier the Congress MLAs had a discussion at YSR Congress party office and took unanimous decision on submitting resignations. Later they proceeded in a Bus to Punjagutta and garlanded YSR's statue. Later, they proceeded to Tank bund, where they paid rich tributes to BR Ambedkar. After paying tributes, they came to the Assembly to submit resignations.

The MLAs - Konda Surekha, K Satyavathi and Jayasudha - did not submit resignations on Monday as their resignation letters, which they have submitted for the cause of Telangana, are still pending with the Speaker. (INN)

Tightrope walk begins for Cong. Govn.

    2011/8/21 21:57:08

The resignations by Jagan followers come as a big blow to Congress party. The only one wise decision taken during the last one year by Congress party is dissolving PRP into it. This gave it a life support to keep afloat for a while.

The total number of MLAs in the state Assembly is 293 and the magic figure needed to stay in the power is 147. The present strength of Congress party including its allies parties is 155. With 27 MLAs leaving now it will 128.

After Jagan’s supporters withdrawing their support to the ruling Congress Government in the state it is still having 17 PRP, 7 Majlis and 3 independents MLAs in its side. (17+7+3=27) It means Congress still has the exact number of MLAs in its side and thus enjoys the confidence of the house.

However, it will be unbalanced and fall apart if its Telangana MLAs really want to sacrifice for the Telangana cause. Then, not even Chiranjeevi can save the Government.

Now, the tightrope walk begins for Kiran Kumar Reddy’s Government.

TDP 'no confidence' on Kiran Govt.

2011/11/29 1:20:32 Ever since, the High Court ordered CBI inquiry on Chandrababu and his family members' inappropriate assets, he turns a worried man. Although, he wears a bold face in the public all his recent statements and actions are revealing how tense he is about the CBI inquiry.

Although, Chandrababu initially welcomed CBI inquiry on his assets and said that he will not go to any court appealing to stop CBI inquiry, during the time course he looses his boldness and he too knocks the court doors.

When, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has faced the same situation and went to Supreme Court requesting a stay on CBI inquiry into his assets, Chandrababu has flayed him like anything describing him as a coward. The same Chandrababu, when faces the same situation following Jagan's foot steps went to Supreme Court with the same request, which was rejected by the court. Now, he is gearing-up for a legal battle in the High Court. He has announced he will fight it out both legally and politically.

Hence, his party is threatens Kiran Kumar Government with 'No Confidence' motion. TDP General Secretary Payyavula Keshav said that, he will meet the Speaker Nadendla Manohar to inform him about their 'No Confidence' motion in the Assembly sessions. However, TDP is telling some other reasons -farmers' issue for it. TDP said that they are bringing 'No Confidence motion' against Kiran Kumar Reddy Government because it is failed to resolve farmers' problems in the state.

It would be a big joke to see Chandrababu Naidu who is well known for his anti-farmers' policies during his regime is now trying topple the Government in the name of farmers, while everyone know why is serving the notice. He proves that, he can utilize the most powerful democratic instrument-'No confidence Motion' to safeguard his own interests rather than using it for the people.

Abhishek Bachchan opined that, Indian film industry is no need to westernize itself merely to grab the attention of international market, because nowadays all the other countries are keen to know about the rich Indian culture, and its traditions etc. “If, the industry opts for westernizing then it will certainly looses its own identity in the international market,” said Jr.Bachchan.

He said that, his AB Corporation is not only meant for him and his father Amitabh Bachchan films, but also can make films with all others including his wife Aishwarya Bachchan. He condemned the allegations that, Bollywood is facing a setback only because of heavy remunerations that it pays to film stars. He said, remuneration is a thing that defines the confidence of the producer on his film hero. Producers very well knew how much they need to pay to their stars and their worthiness. I am also producing the films. Hence, I can assess the situation in that angle also. So, no one needs to blame me or some other actor over this subject

    Babu seeks Governor’s intervention,

    2011/6/4 9:35:15

Outmaneuvered in his efforts to push the government on the back foot by introducing a No Confidence Motion, Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday refused to give in and sought the Governor’s intervention to press home his point.

Making his anger at the decision of Speaker Nadendla Manohar to adjourn the Assembly sine die after his and his Deputy’s elections on the Floor of the House, Mr Naidu approached Governor ESL Narasimhan, with a posse of his party Legislators in tow, and lodged a complaint against the ‘arbitrary’ decision.

After emerging out from the Raj Bhavan, Mr Naidu let loose a tirade against the Speaker who he had earlier congratulated, and described Mr Manohar’s actions as ‘authoritarian, arbitrary and undemocratic.’

The former chief minister also alleged that the government and Speaker have violated the rules of the House and disregarded procedure.

He further stated that though the TDP had given a notice for the No Confidence Motion one hour in advance before the commencement of House, the Speaker did not even mention the cited notice and adjourned the House sine die, soon after he was congratulated on his winning the election.

The TDP chief pointed out that the Speaker should convene the House within 10 days once the No Confidence Motion notice is issued.

Stating that moving a No Confidence Motion was the basic right of Opposition, Mr Naidu stated that the government, “if it has any real concern towards hapless farmers’ problems, should immediately convene the House for discussion.”

The infuriated former chief minister, whose decision to introduce the No Trust Motion is largely seen as an attempt to checkmate YSR Congress Party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy, turned his attention to the Kadapa leader, demanding that he display his hand and support the No Confidence Motion.

Mr Naidu challenged Mr Jaganmohan Reddy to visit the Raj Bhavan along with his MLAs and proclaim that his loyalist MLAs lacked confidence in the government.

He questioned Mr Jaganmohan Reddy why he had kept quiet on the No Confidence Motion now after issuing ‘hollow statements’ that he has the power to pull down the government.

Mr Naidu further stirred the pot by saying that it seemingly looked as if the Kadapa MP-elect has a tacit understanding with the Congress High Command and hence remained mum on the No Trust Vote.

Earlier, the TDP chief held marathon discussions with his 90 MLAs at Telugu Desam Legislature Party office before making his way to the Raj Bhavan to seek justice.

KTR offers to commit suicide, if found guilty

2011/12/5 14:24:17 Telangana Rashtra Samithi MLA K Tarakarama Rao on Monday announced that he would commit suicide in full public view if someone proves that his party or leaders got benefited from the Polavaram Project tenders.

Talking to reporters at the Assembly Media Point, the Sircilla MLA challenged Telugu Desam president N Chandrababu Naidu to prove the allegations that he levelled against the TRS leaders on the floor of the House during discussions on No Confidence Motion. He said was ready for any inquiry into the awarding of Polavaram tenders. "If the inquiry report indicts TRS, I will hang myself to death," he said.

However, he said Naidu should quit politics and disband his party if the TRS gets a clean chit in the enquiry. He said people would teach a fitting lesson to Naidu if he do not stop levelling such baseless allegations against the TRS.

Meanwhile, TRS MLA from Chennur Nallala Odelu stated that the TDP chief has intentionally targeted the TRS in the assembly despite knowing well that the TRS members would vote in favour of No Confidence Motion. He alleged that Naidu wanted to divert the attention of House and save the government from the No Confidence Motion. (INN)

While the TDP MLAs were shouting slogan from the left side of the Speaker's podium, the right side was encroached upon by the TRS members. After four minutes, the House was again adjourned for half-an-hour at 9.32 am.

Speaker gives nod for No Trust Motion discussion

2011/12/3 9:34:08 Assembly Speaker Nadendla Manohar on Saturday agreed to take up discussion on the No Confidence Motion moved by Telugu Desam Party against the government. The decision was taken after Opposition Leader N Chandrababu Naidu moved the motion in the House and was supported by 76 members belonging to the TDP, TRS, CPI, BJP and CPM.

However, the decision was preceded by uproarious scenes and din for third consecutive day leading to adjournment of House twice. Later, the Speaker called for the meeting of floor leaders to end the impasse.

As soon as the House met on Saturday at 9 am, TDP and TRS members rushed to the podium demanding that the No Confidence Motions submitted by them be taken up for discussion. The opposition members resorted to slogans shouting which led to adjournment of the House for 15 minutes at 9.06 am. The uproar and din continued when the House reassembled at 10.08. Again the Speaker adjourned the House at 10.13 am for half-an-hour.

Following Speaker's request for cooperation to pass the condolence motion for six former MLAs, the opposition members resumed their seats. After passing the condolence motion, the House observed two minutes silence as a mark of respect for the deceased MLAs. The Speaker then read out a resolution condemning the attack on MIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi. However, he rejected MIM MLA Ahmed Balala's demand for discussion on the issue. The Speaker said that the House has unanimously condemned the attack and wished him a speedy recovery. Legislative Affairs Minister D Sreedhar Babu also condemned the attack saying that there was no place for violence in democracy.

The Speaker then allowed Revenue Minister Dharmana Prasad to speak. Admitting that the State has been experiencing severe drought, the Minister said that during the Business Advisory Committee's meeting all parties have agreed for discussions on the drought situation. Asking the TRS members to cooperate with the House, he said even Telangana region has been facing severe drought and therefore, they must allow discussion on the drought situation. Regarding Telangana, he said that the issue was pending with the Centre and the consultation process to resolve the issue was on.

Later, the Speaker informed the House that he was in receipt of two notices of No Confidence Motion submitted by Chandrababu Naidu and Etela Rajender. He then asked Naidu to move the motion. While Naidu started reading the motion, all TRS left the House. However, when the Speaker asked for headcount of MLAs who are in favour of discussions on the motion, the TRS returned to the House.

As the motion was supported by 76 MLAs, the Speaker announced that it would be taken up discussion. However, the BAC would decide the time for discussion and voting. (INN)
