Jagan calls on party cadre to get ready for midterm polls

YSR Congress Party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy on Wednesday called on party cadre to ready themselves to face midterm elections while seeking to step up pressure on the Congress government on the farmers’ issues by picketing the district Collectorates on June 13.

Addressing party workers during the party’s Central Governing Council meeting which continued in its second day today, Mr Jaganmohan Reddy asked the party cadre to be ready to face midterm elections anytime as the government might collapse under its own weight.

As part of setting in motion his two-pronged strategy to keep the Congress on the back foot, Mr Jaganmohan Reddy called upon party rank and file to work towards strengthening the party from village to district levels.

The party’s immediate task is to set in place teams of loyalists at mandal-level. These teams’ immediate task would be to ensure that the party performs well in the forthcoming elections to the Local Bodies.

The long-term aim of the party is to embark on a full-fledged membership drive, so that the party is ready to face the electorate in the next General elections, according to party sources.

“All of us must make total efforts towards strengthening the party at every nook and corner of the state. It is right time for strengthening the party at all levels,” Mr Jaganmohan Reddy said.

“The drive is aimed at putting in place a strong party organisation in view of the forthcoming elections to Local Bodies,” he said.

He called upon party cadre to start concentrate on enrolling people and ensuring that committees were formed at village and mandal levels.

The MP-elect also turned his attention towards the farmers’ woes in the state and accused the government of adopting an ‘indifferent attitude in redressing the farmers’ problems’

He said that to protest against the inordinate delay in announcing Minimum Support Price for paddy, the YSR Congress Party has decided to picket the District Collectorates across the state on June 13.

Meanwhile party spokesman Ambati Rambabu said that he had no differences with party leaders. He attributed the rumours that he has differences with party to overzealous media persons.

TDP will bite dust if it goes ahead with midterm polls: Nagam

2011/7/18 4:30:42 Telugu Desam Party suspended leader from Telangana Nagam Janardhan Reddy on Monday regretted the TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu call for party to gear up for midterm elections.

Talking to media persons at Assembly Media Point, Nagam alleged the TDP chief was making confusing statements despite the Telangana forum members stated that they are not ready to go for elections.

He asked Naidu what is the rationale behind calling party cadre to gear up for midterm elections.

He demanded Naidu make his stand clear on contesting of by-elections in the event of fall of government.

He said the TDP would bite dust if it goes ahead with midterm elections in the Telangana.

Responding on Congress in-charge of state affairs Ghulam Nabi Azad call to Telangana Congress leaders to discuss on Telangana, Nagam asked them not to go head for New Delhi until the Centre gives a clear statement on separate statehood.

He said the Telangana people will backlash Congress leaders on the lines of TDP Telangana Forum members if they visit New Delhi without any assurance from high command.

He further stated that they would meet Speaker Nadendla Manohar and urge him to accept resignations submitted for the cause of Telangana.

He called upon all Telangana elected representatives to urge for acceptance of their resignations to mount pressure on the Centre for T statehood. (INN)

Get ready for by-polls, CM to cadre

2012/2/11 8:14:35 Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Saturday asked the party cadre to get ready for the likely by-elections which might come soon.

Addressing the party workers of Rayachoti, Railway Koduru and Rajampeta constituencies of Cuddapah district at Tirupati, the Chief Minister hoped that the Congress party would win all the seats during the by-elections which might happen if Speaker Nadendla Manohar announces his decision on disqualification petition on 17 rebel MLAs.

Kiran Kumar Reddy slammed YSR Congress party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for working against the party from where he began his political career. He alleged that Jagan has quit the party with the sole intention of becoming the Chief Minister which, he said, would never happen.

Earlier, the Chief Minister also addressed a public meeting at Mittakhandrika near Srikalahasti. He listed out the several welfare schemes being implemented by his government. He claimed that as promised, the State Government has issued notifications for the 1.16 lakh jobs. He hoped that nearly 15 lakh jobs would be created in the private sector in the next three years. He said about one lakh jobs would be created in the Chitoor district alone in the next two years.

The Chief Minister also made a surprise visit to Tirupati Maternity Hospital. Later, he gave nod for the expansion of hospital from 140 beds to 300 beds besides having a separate OP Block and anesthesia unit. He also assured that the strength of doctors would also be increased in the hospital. (INN)

By-polls are not significant, says DS

2012/3/17 5:06:57 Former Pradesh Congress Committee president D Srinivas on Saturday said that the party would not giving much significance to the by-elections being held in the seven Assembly segments in the State.

Talking to media persons after having the darshan of Goddess Kanakadurga at Indrakeeladri along with Patancheruvu MLA Nandeshwar Goud, Srinivas said that the outcome of by-election results would not have much impact on Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy's Government. Stating that the by-election results would not pose any threat to the government, he said that Kiran Kumar Reddy Government would continue its tenure till 2014.

Srinivas also condemned media reports that the country would witness midterm elections in the event of withdrawal of support by Trinamool Congress president Mamata Banerjee and following the debacle of Congress in recent Assembly elections. Stating that no party was ready to face the midterm elections in the country, he said that the UPA government would continue its stint.

Srinivas also lauded Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee for presenting the Budget that would benefit all sections of the society. (INN)

    Sure victory for Cong.- JC

2011/8/24 8:03:48 Former Minister JC Diwakar Reddy predicted in case mid-term polls are held in the state following ongoing political uncertainty, then the Congress party would comfortably win more seats that it won in 2009 elections.

Talking to reporters here on Wednesday, Diwakar Reddy said that the Congress was ready to face mid-terms term polls in the state. However, the possibility of mid-term polls are very less as there was no threat to continuance of Kiran Kumar Reddy Government. He said the resignation of 26 Congress MLAs in favour of Jagan Mohan Reddy would have no impact on the state politics in the longer run.

The former minister said that blackmailing was common and part of politics and therefore, the resignation by 29 pro-Jagan MLAs was one such move to halt the CBI probe. However, the move has failed to make an impact. He said that the Jagan Mohan Reddy was miscalculating his strengths. "It is not possible to win elections on sympathy every time. Even Jagan will not able to repeat the performance of last by-elections next time," he said.

Further, not all Congress MLAs who resigned for Jagan will be able to win elections on YSR's sympathy, Diwakar Reddy said adding that election results depend on the individual candidate's profile and also on their opponents. "Therefore, most of the MLAs who have resigned for Jagan Mohan Reddy might not enter the assembly next time," he said.

He also denied reports that YSR Congress party was trying to field his son against him in Tadipatri assembly segment which he represents now. He said he would re-contest from Tadipatri and would also win the same. (INN)

Party spokesperson Ambati Rambabu told media persons at State Party Office in Jubilee Hills on Wednesday stated that party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy would lead his cadre in picketing the district Collectorates across the states if the government fails to take corrective steps to solve the farmers’ issues.

    Naidu predicts midterm elections

2011/7/18 4:21:46 Blaming the Centre for the political uncertainty in the state, Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu has predicted midterm elections in the state.

Addressing to Mandal level party workers at NTR Trust Bhavan, the TDP chief has called upon the party workers to get ready for the midterm elections in the event of fall of government.

Accusing the Centre of being responsible for the current political situation, Mr Naidu demanded to take a clear decision on Telangana to put an end to the ongoing crisis.

Slamming the Congress and TRS for targeting the TDP, Mr Naidu said the party has already made its stand clear on Telangana. “The final decision on Telangana has to be taken by the Centre,” he pointed out.

Reiterating that TDP would intensify its fight against corruption at all levels, Naidu alleged that the United Progressive Alliance Government (UPA) totally failed in stopping corruption and stashing away of black money.

Despite the Supreme Court slams the UPA Government for its failure in bringing back black money, Naidu alleged the government has failed to take any concrete measures to bring back the money.

Mr Naidu added the Prime Minister’s office should be included in the Lok Pal to prevent corruption at higher echelons.

Describing the Prime Minister a `rubber stamp’ of All India Congress Committee president Sonia Gandhi, Mr Naidu said the PM remained a mute witness even as 2G spectrum scandal and other scams surfaced.(INN)

    2011/4/12 4:32:53

All eyes in the state are no on Kadapa. The by polls to the Kadapa Lok Sabha seat where Jagan is seeking renomination is now like a battleground.

The congress party and the Kiran government are leaving no stone unturned to get their candidate DL Ravindra Reddy elected.

However, the people in Kadapa are of the opinion that the fight may be between the TDP and YSR party.

As per the ground situation at this time, the congress party may end up only in the third place with the TDP coming second.

Not even a single person is ready to believe that Jagan will lose the election in Kadapa.

Congress will not win a single seat in by-polls: Ambati

2011/8/28 8:48:07 YSR Congress Party spokesperson Ambati Rambabu on Sunday claimed that the Congress party would not win a single seat in the by-polls that would be held after acceptance of resignations submitted by 26 Congress MLAs.

Talking to reporters, Ambati said he would quit politics if Congress wins even a single seat. He challenged the PCC President Botsa Satyanarayana to do the same if YSR Congress wins even a single seat in the by-polls. He said the Congress leaders were levelling baseless allegations of corruption against Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy to defame him and YSR family. He said the Congress leaders were resorting to revenge politics after Jagan quit the Congress party.

Ambati ridiculed the statements made by Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu against corruption. He said the entire state knew that Naidu amassed wealth illegally by favouring corporates during his tenure as the Chief Minister. If Naidu is really honest, then he must tell the CBI that it was he who allotted land to Emaar properties for the first time, he said.

The YSR Congress party spokesman also refuted the allegations that Jagan Mohan Reddy was indulging in horse-trading. He said the Congress MLAs have joined the Jagan camp out of their love for YSR and his family. Unlike many Congress leaders, the pro-Jagan MLAs feel indebted that it was YSR who brought back the Congress party to power for two consecutive terms. (INN)

YSRC cautions Congress on speaking against Jagan

2012/5/18 7:22:25 Hyderabad, May 18 (INN): YSR Congress on Friday cautioned the Congress leaders to guard their tongue and speak sense as their torrent of lies on YS Jaganmohan Reddy will not be taken easily by the party cadre which will hit back with equal measure as the young leader is emerging as a rising star on the national horizon.

“Chief Minister, N Kiran Kumar Reddy, PCC President Botsa Satyanarayana and Chiranjivi have been attributing their choicest epitaphs to YS Jagan’s name in the name of illegal assets, but the case CBI has been inquiring into for the past ten months pertains to 26 GOs case which is the correct nomenclature,” party official spokesperson, B Jhanak Prasad told reporters here.

The State Government should clearly state whether the 26 GOs it has issued were legal or cancel them if they were not. This will solve half the case CBI has been investigating for the past 10 ten months, instead they have been labelling the case as Jagan’s assets case and the like, he said.

While ACB has given a report on liquor mafia and the name of PCC chief was were prominent, the State put the issue on the back burner as by-polls were fast approaching. Despite Congress MP Harsha Kumar calling Botsa Satyanarayana names, there seems to be no reaction from the Party.

Chiranjeevi, who was a total sell out to Congress by merging his PRP, too has joined the bandwagon of calling YS Jagan names and three leaders have never been with the people for long, he said. The internal squabbles came out in a very prominent and glaring manner when Botsa alleged that the Chief Minister was working in tandem with TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu.

Decibels of the criticism have increased for the past couple of days, he said and challenged that YSRC party candidates will go to polls with YSR photo and Congress can go to polls with Sonia Gandhi picture and the verdict of June 12 by-polls will tell who stands where.

“The man who blamed destiny saying that the zodiac position was not good when he took over as chief minister is now boasting that he is a chief minister of two year’s repute. In that case he should spell out what was his achievement during the period and how were the farmers benefited,” he said.

Going by the statistics, Congress and TDP did not get a favourable result during the past 3 elections and the results to the ensuing by-polls too will be no different, he said.

Cinema set for Jagan’s party launching?

    2011/2/13 20:52:30
We were told that, YS.Jagan Mohan Reddy is going to launch his new political party probably in the first week of next month. Media reports ‘YSR Congress party’ would be his party’s title. It came to know that, Jagan is planning to launch his party in a big way at ‘Idupulapaya’ in Kadapa. Hence, he has engaged Tollywood Art director Thota Tharani to erect an impressive set for his party launching. It is learnt that, Thota Tharani and his team of technicians from Monday onwards will start their work at the location. Jagan’s follower- former TTD Chairman Bhumana Karunkar Reddy is supervising this work.

On the other hand, YS.Jagan Mohan Reddy and his followers are leaving no stone unturned to make their party launching as a mega event in the current times. We may expect large number of party leaders and workers from Congress and TDP migrate into Jagan’s newly launched party on this D day.

TDP president Chandrababu Naidu, who foresees this threat from Jagan’s camp, is shortly visiting Kadapa to ensure his cadre sticks to his party during this event.

Congress party also may swings into action to keep its cadres intact. It may probably take action on one or two followers of Jagan, so as it can wear a bold face before its beleaguered party workers in Kadapa.

Some serious action and reaction from his end and Congress party may take place before this event or during the event that creates new political equations in the state.

Speaking about the discussions on No Confidence Motion, Jagan said that although Opposition Leader N Chandrababu Naidu introduced the motion on farmers' issue, his speech was directed at criticising his late father YS Rajasekhara Reddy. Further, most of the leaders did not speak about the problems being faced by distressed farmers and used the occasion to settle their political scores. (INN)
