The sate government that is not known to act firmly or swiftly has made an exception this time. The government has agreed to install the statue of the Adivasi warrior from Telangana Komaram Bheem.
The TRS has been demanding that the statue of Komaram Bheem be installed on the Tank Bund immediately. KTR and others started highlighting the issue with a view to gain political mileage.
With the government agreeing to the proposal and setting into motion the process of identifying suitable place on Tank Bund for the statue, the TRS has been silenced on this issue.
2011/3/10 3:02:36 The assured peaceful million march took a violent turn as the Telangana Congress leaders Madhu Yashky and K.Kesav Rao entered the scene. Both the leaders were chased out of the place by some students. While, K.Kesav Rao was humiliated with facing chappals and eggs on him, Madhu Yashky was roughed up by the students. Students who got irritated upon seeing them shouting slogans against the both have tried their hands on them. However, both the leaders were rescued by the police. They have escorted to safe place. Madhu Yashky said that, the attack on his is a very simple issue before the Telangana issue. He said that, he is ready to resign to his post if all the parties in TJAC ask him to do so.
The statues of eminent persons of the state that were placed on the Tank bund during late Rama Rao regime were also not spared by the protesters. They have partially damaged the statues of Brahma Naidu, Yerra Pragada, Annamayya, Kandhukuri Veeresalingam, Molla, and Triupuraneni Rama Swamy. The Para military forces and the police forces deployed around the Tank Bund area failed to control the crowds who go rampage.
Prof. Kodhandaram, Gaddar, Madhu Yashky and many other leaders were arrested but released later. TRS president has just turned up at Tank Bund and condemned the attacks on KK and Yashky. However, he or any of the leaders didn’t regret for damaging the statues of great persons of the state, instead they transferred the blame onto State Government for provoking the peaceful agitating people.
2007/11/21 1:42:40 The TDP chief Chandra Babu Naidu tried to pull a fast one on chief minister Y S Rajashekar Reddy by staging a dharna at the assembly. He even slept in the assembly premises overnight and had his morning ablutions. The TDP members attended the assembly without going home.
But all that Babu managed was a small story in the inside pages. He thought that his act would fetch him banner headlines and even the national if nor international media would highlight his act of sleeping in the assembly premises.
Babu is by no means anywhere close to the legendary N T Rama Rao. When N T Ram Rao staged dharna by squatting on the road on tank bund, it was a big issue. The entire city came to a halt and his act got wide publicity. In the end, Babu has failed to achieve anything concrete on the minimum support price issue for paddy
2010/10/26 9:44:08 Nowadays, every small and big leader in Telangana comes out with a new task for the government to solve followed by serious consequences warning. All of a sudden, TRS leader K.Taraka Rama Rao found a new issue to fight out the government. 2011/3/11 18:25:25 CC police have filed non bailable cases against TRS president K.Chandrashekar Rao, his son K.Taraka Ramarao, T.Vinod, Praja Front leader Gaddar, TJAC Chairman Prof.Kodhandaram and some others for attempt of murder on ACP and ASI who were on duty during the million march. Police have arrested 59 people who were alleged to be damaged the statues on Tank Bund.
Chief Minister K.Kiran Kumar Reddy and Home minister Sabita Indra Reddy told the members of the Assembly that, though they have prior information about the plan of destroying the statues on the Tank Bund, they were failed to protect them. However, they have assured that, the culprits will be brought to book and new statues will be reinstalled in the same locations. They have also assured the members that, they will take all necessary steps to protect and safeguard the public properties of the twin cities.
When they both knew in advance about the destructive plans of pro Telangana people, then why didn’t they take necessary steps? If, a Chief Minister and Home Minister of a State simply ignore their duties to safeguard the public properties, who else will be held responsible for it? Booking cases on the TRS leaders is nothing but a big drama scripted by Kiran Kumar Reddy Government. When, they couldn’t control the mobs from going rampage, how anyone can expect that they have courage and sincerity to take action against the leaders? It’s high time for the Centre to take some corrective measures for the burning state.
