The entire film industry including movie theaters across the country are observing one day bandh on Thursday (Feb.23rd) in protest against Center's decision of levying 10.3% service tax on the industry. The Film Federation of India has given a bandh call for tomorrow, which is unanimously agreed by all the industries in the country. So, more than 9000 theaters across the country and all the shooting and postproduction activities will be halted for one day on tomorrow. However, Multiplexes were spared from tomorrow's bandh.
The recent meeting held between FFI and Finance Minister Pranab Mukharji over withdrawing the 10.3% service tax on the industry was failed. So, FFI gives a bandh call for tomorrow.
FFI argues that the film industry in India is already passing through severe financial crisis and is unable sustain any load further. FFI president Vinod Lambha speaking to media has said "The only way to bear this additional load is to increase the ticket prices, which is already too much to bear with. During the years the production costs also multiplied to such a level that it brings the industry to its knees. At this critical situation instead of giving some support to the industry, the Government has served additional load on it, which we are condemning."

2011/9/8 1:39:51 Producer Natti Kumar who is celebrating his birthday today has talked to media at Hyderabad. He said “Being grown up from a very low level of life, I know the problems of poor people. So, just like every year this year also I have donated Rs.22 lakhs to poor people. I am also looking after 800 churches in the state and serving as the president of Christians Association.
Being in the film industry, I thought it is my duty to help the exhibitors in the state. So, where ever the small theaters left abandoned due to financial crisis, I helped those owners in repairing their theaters. But, unfortunately many of our Telugu producers are not willing to give their films to those theaters. Hence, I plan to fight for the films on theaters behalf. But, in the mean time some theater owners are pressurizing me to return their theaters, but unless they return the amount that I have spent on the theater renovation work, I can’t handover theaters to them.”
“I have observed many of our big producers are not paying service tax and entertainment tax to the Government. If, they fail to pay the dues before 45 days time, I am planning to collect all that information under Right to Information act and file cases against them in the court. I will also ask the court to order for CBI inquiry on them.”

Kantri, Bujjigadu and Pandurangadu in 1000 theaters!
2008/5/1 7:39:07 There are several big films lined up for release in May. NTR' Kanthri directed by Meher Ramesh and produced by Ashwini Dutt is set for release on May 9. Dutt wants to release the film on over 1000 screens like Pawan Kalyan's Jalsa. But Allu Arjun's film Parugu hit the screens only on May 1 and the film is unlikely to make way so soon.
K Raghavendra Rao also wants to release Pandurangadu starring Balakrishna on May 28 at over 1000 theatres. Even Puri Jagannath would like to release the Prabhas starrer Bujjigadu made in Chennai at over 1000 theaters if possible. With so many people vying with one another for 1000 screens, the theatre owners are scratching their heads in exasperation. If they have to accommodate all the films in their theatres, then no film can be run for more than one week!
Rachcha movie is also getting a huge response at neighboring Karnataka state, where it was released in 36 theaters. So far, the film has collected Rs.1.80 Crores and still maintaining the same pace. Rachcha, which is also released in Tamil as ‘Ragalai’ in 280 theaters is enjoying a tremendous response from all over the state. Next, this film is going to release in Malayalam today, (on 13th) with same title. Film makers are predicting the same response from Kerala also. If so, 'Rachcha' will pave way for new market for all others, who are ready to follow it. Director of the film Sampath Nandi said ‘I have made only a commercial film and not any master art peace. So, the entire credit goes to hero Ram Charan only.
Tabu was touted to be the big draw for the film Idi Sangathi. But the film opened very weakly. The theaters were not even half full and at some places, the crowd was not even filled to 20 percent of their capacity.
The name of Tabu was expected to pull the crowds to the theaters, but surprisingly, it was not so. The director used some hot and sensuous pictures of Tabu in all the publicity posters. Even then, it was a very weak opening by any standards.
The film was also awarded the 'A' certificate by the censor, but there are not adult scenes in the film. Tabu also looked very plain and unglamorous in her role as the wife of a middleclass journalist Abbas.
For people who hoped to watch a hot and sexy Tabu, it was a huge disappointment. She simply failed to sizzle. Whatever hot scenes were there, they were all used on the publicity posters only.

HEYY BABYY poised to mark hat trick of hits for Akshay Kumar
2007/8/10 5:20:16
His sole release of the year so far, NAMASTE LONDON, did wonders at the box office in spite of releasing in the middle of World Cup cricket. And now Akshay Kumar would be seeing his second release of the year as HEYY BABYY arrives at the theaters after a fortnight.
This could well turn out to be yet another instance of a hat trick for Akshay. In 2005, his BEWAFA, WAQT - RACE AGAINST TIME and GARAM MASALA came to theaters at regular intervals and each of them worked at the box office.
For an actor who has been delivering successful films consistently and is currently one of the most bankable stars in Bollywood, Akshay Kumar would be on the lookout for a hat trick since his BHAGAM BHAG, which released in December last year, was also a runaway success.

I am happy that my studio now provides employment to some people also. I will turn this studio into a full fledged studio to enable the film makers complete their entire film process here itself from story discussion stage to post production stages. We have a dubbing studio here that is par with any Hollywood studio. Soon we will add more such facilities to our studios.
Pyramid Saimira's first Malayalam movie Boot with Suresh Gopi in lead has been delayed further and has been rescheduled its release on 11 January 2008. Directed by Shaji Kailash, the murder mystery had been planned to release last Friday. But due to non availability of good theaters all over the state, the entertainment giant has postponed the release to next year.
Also, the company will release Ajith's Tamil movie Billa in Kerala too. To avoid clash between the company's own releases, Saimira announced this postponement today. It is mentionable that the company owned nearly 200 plus theaters in Kerala.
According to our sources, there is one more reason for the delay in release of Boot. The title has been already registered by some other producers in Kerala Film Chamber. So it is said that Saimira is trying to solve the issue amicably with the owner of the title Boot.
