The 85 year old grand old man and the former Governor of AP state ND Tiwari, who was ousted for his sexual affairs with some women inside the Raj Bhavan, has been suffering from his ‘son stroke’ since last several years. At this elderly age he is knocking every door in the capital that can put an end to the Supreme Court trail launched against him by his forbidden son Rohit Shekar.
Rohit Shekar claims that, he is the biological son of ND Tiwari who had an extra marital relationship with his mother Ujwala Sharma, while he was young and handling the Congress affairs in New Delhi. However, ND Tiwari keeps denying having any sexual relationship with her and refused to accept Rohit Shekar as his son. Hence, Rohit is obliged to knock the court doors seeking a DNA test of his father to prove his relationship with him.
The Delhi High Court when asked Tiwari to go for a DNA test, he bluntly refused to do so and filed a petition in Supreme Court seeking a stay on the high court orders. But, then he couldn’t predict that, he came to a point where there is no return. Supreme Court also insisted him to undergo DNA test to prove his innocence in this case. It also rejected his petition to give a stay on high court order and suggested him to follow the high court order without making any fuss. However, Supreme Court gives the old man to spell his preferred mode of DNA test, but he refused to disclose it. How the Supreme Court handles this odd old man to have DNA test is to be watched.
2011/7/28 22:37:48 The 80 years old ND Tiwari who was ousted from Governor Post of the state for his involvement in sex scandal inside Raj Bhavan, has been engaged in a legal battle with Rohit Shekar who claims that he is biological son of him. Tiwari, while he was young and working at New Delhi is said to be had extramarital affair with Shekar’s mother Ujwala Sharma, who then used to meet him regularly as a part of her journalist job.
She had a son Rohit Shekar out of their relationship. After he grown up as youngster he has filed a petition against Tiwari in Delhi High Court. He asks the court to order his father ND Tiwari to accept him as his biological son. He also requested the court to conduct DNA test for both to prove this truth. He has submitted more than hundred photos of his mother and Tiwari taken together in several occasions that proves their intimacy. But, Tiwari is refusing to come to court and to give his blood sample for DNA test. Hence, the Delhi High Court which is fed-up with his attitude has warned him that, if he fails to give his blood sample for DNA test, it is going to declare Rohit Shekar as his biological son.
2012/4/27 5:34:28 New Delhi, April 27 (INN): The Delhi High Court on Friday directed former Congress leader N D Tiwari to undergo DNA test in connection with paternity suit filed by Rohit Shekhar, who claims to be Tiwari’s biological son.
While issuing these orders, the High Court observed the police can intervene if necessary to collect the DNA sample from Tiwari.
The court set aside the single judge’s order that veteran Congress leader cannot be forced to give blood smears in paternity suit.
Earlier, the court asked the Tiwari to undergo DNA test. However, he refused to undergo DNA test and challenged it in the Supreme Court. The apex court refused to issue stay order in the case.
In his petition, Rohit Shekhar claimed that Tiwari had a relationship with his mother Ujjwala Sharma and stated Tiwari was his father.
In earlier court hearings, he has produced dozens of photographs that show Mr Tiwari attending various family functions including Rohit's birthday celebrations.
But Tiwari argued that being forced to share a blood sample violates his right to privacy and described it as an attempt to malign his image.
A local court has summoned Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan to appear before it on December 11 for allegedly promoting alcoholism by featuring in a liquor commercial.
Chief Judicial Magistrate Deepesh Tiwari has also summoned the manufacturer of Master Stroke Deluxe Whisky.
The court, after recording the statement of petitioner Vinod Kumar Tripathi and other witnesses, registered a case against Khan and the general manager Digo Raddico Distelleries Associates Alcohol and Breweries Limited, Khargone.
In the petition Tripathi said he saw a board displaying Khan with the liquor and people, reading the board "success needs a master stroke", were purchasing the brand.
The petitioner demanded action against the actor for promoting alcoholism which is against the law. Advertisement of alcohol and its public use is banned in the country.
2012/5/1 3:24:43 New Delhi, May 1 (INN): The Supreme Court on Tuesday directed the veteran Congress leader N D Tiwari to give blood samples for DNA test in the paternity case pending against him.
Upholding the Delhi High Court’s order, the apex court negated Tiwari's plea that he should not be forced to give blood sample as it was an attempt to malign his image. The 32-year-old Rohit Shekhar has claimed that he was son of 86-year-old Tiwari born to Congress activist Ujjwala and wanted a declaration to that effect. Tiwari's blood samples are required to find out whether Shekhar was his biological son.
The Delhi High Court on April 27 ordered that Tiwari could be compelled to give blood sample for DNA test in connection to the case if he did not cooperate.
Tiwari had earlier refused to appear before the Delhi High Court to give blood samples for a DNA test to settle the paternity suit filed by Shekhar.
The court too had earlier noted that Tiwari could not be forced to give a DNA test. But the Friday verdict went in favour of Shekhar.
Shekhar had claimed that Tiwari began neglecting him and his mother after 1995 and refused to meet him after becoming Uttaranchal Chief Minister. He wanted a DNA test to confirm that Tiwari was his biological father.
Tiwari dodges Court order, refuses to give blood sample
2011/6/1 9:38:17
Senior Congress leader and former AP Governor ND Tiwari on Wednesday failed to appear before Joint Registrar Deepak Garg to give samples of his blood for a paternity suit filed by a man claiming to be his biological son, but instead moved an application beseeching the Delhi High Court not to force him to do so.
Mr Tiwari’s counsel told the Court that the 85-year-old leader could not give his blood sample as this was not a practice followed either in the country or abroad.
to give his blood sample to High Court’s Joint Registrar Deepak Garg to collect the sample on June 1.
After Mr Tiwari’s failure to turn up, Mr Garg placed the matter before the Court to decide the fresh application. The Delhi High Court had on May 6 ordered Mr Tiwari, the petitioner Rohit Shekhar, along with his mother Ujwala Sharma to be present before the Court on June 1 to give their blood samples.
The Court had also directed Mr Tiwari to pay Rs 75,000 to Shekhar within one week, as per an earlier order passed by Justice Geeta Mittal. Mr Tiwari made the payment today.
A Bench of the Court had on December 23, 2010 had asked Mr Tiwari to undergo a DNA test on the suit filed by Rohit Shekhar (31), who claims to be his biological son. Mr Shekhar claims he was born out of the leader's alleged relationship with his mother Ujwala Sharma.
Mr Tiwari had to quit as the Andhra Pradesh Governor in December 2009, after a television channel aired video clippings of an old man, purportedly to be of the octogenarian Governor, romping with three women.
2011/12/7 14:58:25 Congress party official spokesman Manish Tiwari on Wednesday stated that the Congress High Command would initiate disciplinary action against 16 MLAs who voted in favour of No Confidence Motion introduced against the Kiran Kumar Reddy Government violating the party whip.
Talking to media persons, Manish Tiwari said that the high command would initiate action against the rebel MLAs after consulting the Congress In-Charge of State Affairs Ghulam Nabi Azad. He said the party would not spare anyone who violates the party's discipline and principles.
Manish Tiwari congratulated the Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy for successfully defeating the No Trust Motion with the support of Praja Rajyam and MIM. (INN)
2011/11/16 8:47:27 (IANS) People who suffer stroke-like attacks have a mortality rate 20 percent higher than the general population.
In one of the largest studies of its kind, over 20,000 adults hospitalised between 2000-2007 with a transient ischemic attack (TIA) were surveyed for mortality rates.
A TIA occurs when blood flow to the brain ceases for some time, leaving the victim with stroke-like symptoms for a short period. But it could also foreshadow a real stroke if preventative steps are not taken, reports the journal Stroke.
University of New South Wales School of Public Health and Community Medicine's Melina Gattellari, who led the study, said nine years after a TIA, mortality rates are 20 percent higher than for those who do not experience an attack.
Not only that, 50 percent of patients with a TIA had died after nine years. TIA has long been recognised as a risk factor for early stroke, according to a New South Wales statement.
John Worthington, associate professor and Gattellari's Wales' colleague, said the study results emphasised the long-term effects of a TIA event on mortality.
"It is time to re-examine the intensity of secondary prevention that we provide, even in people with a distant history of TIA," he said.
"The brief stroke-like symptoms of transient ischemic attack are a warning of poor outcomes and an opportunity for doctors and patients to intervene before a more deadly event," he said.
Gattellari said, given the research findings, there needed to be more emphasis placed on managing cardiovascular risk factors among those who experience a TIA.
2011/6/1 1:51:59 We might be aware that, former Governor of the AP state, ND Tiwari was called back by the Centre for involving in sexual affairs inside Raj Bhavan. This 85 year old playboy is also facing similar case at Delhi High Court since last few years.
While, he is young and serving at Congress head quarters at New Delhi, he had intimate relationship with a woman named Ujwala Sharma. Later, she gave birth to Rohit Shekar and she couldn’t find access to Tiwari as he become very influential and holds high ranks in the government. Hence, there was a long interval in their romantic saga. The second episode of their story begins after two decades, like we see in any of our movies.
But, ND Tiwari keep refusing this story all these years and also refused to accept Rohit Shekar as his son. So, he has filed a case against his father in Delhi High court. He asked the court to order his father to undergo DNA test, so as it can be proved that he is the biological son of Tiwari.
ND Tiwari several times has refused to go for DNA test, but Delhi High court finally obliges him to give his blood sample for DNA test. The court has summoned ND Tiwari, Ujwala Sharma and their son Rohit Shekar to the court on 1st of June to give their blood samples. Hence, if the mother and son’s story is genuine then the DNA test will be the climax scene in their romantic saga.
ND Tiwari who was summoned by Delhi High Court for giving his blood samples to undergo DNA test, ignored the court orders and absconds giving blood samples for DNA test. However, he has deposited Rs.25,000 to court through his representative towards the fine levied on him for abstaining from the case during the last session. He appealed the court not to insist him to give evidence or blood samples to the court.
The petitioners Ujwala Sharma and her son Rohit Shekar, who were also summoned to court, have come to court and given their blood samples for DNA test. The final episode of his romantic story, which would have concluded in a couple of days with the DNA results, remained suspense with Tiwari’s absence. Hope the court can bring him to book.

Robotic surgery for heart patients in Apollo Hospital
2011/10/29 21:12:56
(IANS) Apollo Hospitals, India's biggest corporate hospital chain, Saturday launched "stroke Robot" which enables real-time quality care to stroke patients in areas far away from major cities.
The RP-7 remote presence Robot is a mobile robotic platform that enables the physician to remotely monitor and guide the treatment of stroke.
Apollo Group of Hospitals chairman Prathap C. Reddy told reporters that it is the first and only US Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-cleared remote presence device. It is also claimed to be the first such technology made available in India by the US.
RP-7 leverages wireless, internet and robotic technology which enables a physician to "e-reach" immediately to the patient's bedside in remote location to render care.
The first unit with command and control system, costing Rs.15 million, has been installed at Apollo Hospital, Hyderabad.
The group plans to have one system each at seven of its hospitals with a neurology department in the country over the next one year. "We plan to connect five to six hospitals around every centre," Reddy said.
The hospital will charge Rs.10,000 in excess for providing services through this new technology.
The hospital authorities also made a live demonstration of the technology with a neurologist in China monitoring and guiding the treatment of a patient at Apollo, Hyderabad.
Doctors said as the first 4.5 hours after the stroke are considered crucial for treatment and 60 to 70 percent patients don't reach the hospital even in 48 hours, the robotic technology will be of immense help in reaching care to the patient immediately.
Noting that India with a population of 1.2 billion has only 800 neurophysicians, they said RP-7 enables access to scarce expertise.
According to doctors, one in six people get a stroke in their lifetime. A million people die in India every year due to stroke. India ranks second in the world after China in the number of deaths caused by strokes.
Oct 29 is observed as World Stroke Day to underscore the serious nature and high rates of stroke, raise awareness of the prevention and treatment of the condition, and ensure better care and support for survivors. The annual event was started in 2006 by the World Stroke Organization (WSO).

Tiwari asked to appear in person for DNA test on May 26
2012/5/21 7:17:45 New Delhi, May 21 (INN): The Delhi High court on Monday directed Congress leader ND Tiwari to appear in person on May 26 before it to give blood sample for a DNA test to decide the paternity suit of 32-year-old Rohit Shekhar, who claims to be his biological son.
Joint Registrar of Delhi High Court Deepak Garg said, "Defendent number 1 (Tiwari) is directed to appear before court at 12 noon on May 26 along with his two photographs to give his blood smears." Stating that the court should not rush to take police assistance for enforcing its order, Garg said “The 86-year-old Tiwari be given an opportunity to voluntarily comply with the order."
Garg asked the medical chief of the dispensary, located inside the high court premises, to appoint a doctor for collecting the blood sample on May 26, the next date of hearing. The court's direction came after it was informed that the requisite DNA kit has been received by the high court registry from Hyderabad-based lab Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics (CDFD).
Justice Reva Khetrapal of the high court had on May 16 ordered its registrar to take police assistance for bringing the defiant veteran Congress leader here for taking his blood sample to decide the paternity suit.
Justice Khetrapal had came down heavily on the counsel representing the Tiwari, after he sought adjournment of hearing on the ground that a petition has been filed in the Supreme Court on the issue.
The court had said that considering the age of Tiwari, the order of taking the blood sample is required to be implemented "as expeditiously as possible otherwise an irreparable loss is bound to visit the plaintiff".
The court's directions came on the plea of Rohit Shekhar seeking to compel Tiwari to furnish his blood sample at the earliest to decide the four-year-old paternity suit. He has sought a judicial declaration that Tiwari is his biological father.
The high court had on May 14 asked Tiwari to inform it within two days as to whether he wants to voluntarily give his blood sample for DNA test in the paternity suit or police force be used for obtaining it.
Justice Khetrapal had also told the counsel for Tiwari that his client will not leave India till he gives his blood sample for the requisite DNA test in the matter in the wake of orders of the Delhi High Court and the Supreme Court.
Tiwari was earlier directed by the high court and the apex court to furnish a blood sample for the DNA test. The court was hearing a fresh plea by Shekhar against Tiwari, seeking that he be asked to give the blood sample to ascertain whether he was the biological father of the petitioner.
Ashmit Patel’s publicist is distraught with the remarks made by Bhojpuri superstar Manoj Tiwari on the reality show Bigg Boss this week. He has stated that the comments are “not only unwarranted, but downright defamatory and made with the intent to generate cheap mileage to last longer in the Bigg Boss House.”
Referring to Ashmit, Manoj said on the show, “Ganda hai… sa#@ dil ka... Matlab iss ghar mein agar koi sabse ma#@*%$*# … ek sadela aadmi hai… toh woh aadmi (Ashmit) hai. Kyonki dekho usne kya kiya apne life mein… girlfriend banaya… jiski usne video banake market mein de di.” [He (Ashmit) is smutty… (swearing)… from his heart. If there is one person in this House who is the most… (swearing again)… rotten man… that is him (Ashmit). He made a girlfriend… made her video and circulated it in the market].
Reacting to Manoj Tiwari’s insulting jibes, Ashmit’s publicist Dale Bhagwagar said, “Mr Tiwari has repeatedly raked up Ashmit’s old MMS issue on Bigg Boss, falsely alleging that Ashmit had deliberately spread the MMS.”
“Distorting facts in his conversations with other participants including Shweta Tiwari, Sameer Soni and The Great Khali, Mr Tiwari has vilified Ashmit and portrayed him in bad light behind his back. In fact, Mr Tiwari seems hell bent on tarnishing Ashmit’s image with his constant defamatory remarks about him,” added Bhagwagar.
It can be recalled that Ashmit Patel, on the very first day of the show, had categorically denied his involvement in spreading the MMS. In front of all the participants in the Bigg Boss House, he had narrated how the said personal video clip lying on his mobile phone, unknowingly got leaked out, when he gave his phone for repairs and how he had become a victim of circumstances.
The drama escalates between Manoj Tiwari and Ashmit Patel, as the very popular Bhojpuri superstar and the much smaller Bollywood actor, are the only two contestants nominated for elimination from Bigg Boss, this weekend.
“Mr Tiwari holds tremendous influence with the audiences because of his superstardom in Bhojpuri cinema. Does such slander against an upcoming actor like Ashmit, suit a man of Mr Tiwari’s clout and stature,” asked Ashmit’s publicist.
2011/11/21 14:22:06 All India Congress Committee spokesperson Manish Tiwari advised the Congress leaders to restrain from making statements on the Telangana issue.
Talking to media persons, Manish Tiwari said that the consultation process to resolve the issue was on and therefore, no decision could be taken on the statehood issue on immediate basis. He said the party would soon take a decision on creation of Telangana while considering the national interest.
The AICC spokesperson said that any comment on Telangana might lead to further controversy and complicate the matters. Therefore, he advised all the leaders to get in touch with Congress In-charge of State Affairs and Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad over the issue. He reiterated that the party would take a decision on the statehood issue after the completion of consultation process with all the stakeholders. He also denied that the Centre was dragging the issue.
Manish Tiwari also criticised Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawathi for passing a resolution over the division of state into four parts in the assembly without holding any discussion on it with other stakeholders. “The passing of resolution over the division of state without discussion in the House is against the democratic norms and violation of principles and established procedures,” he said. 2011/9/12 3:58:08 Washington, Sep 12 (IANS) Dozens of genetic variants may explain why some people face a higher risk of hypertension, stroke and other cardiovascular diseases, according to a new study.
Scientists found the set of genes associated with blood pressure (BP) in European populations common with people of Asian and African extract.
The study involved more than 200,000 people worldwide, identifying 29 DNA sequence variations across the human genome that influence BP, the journal Nature reports.
These genes were found with the help of data of decades that were pooled and analysed by a large international consortium, including Johns Hopkins researchers, according a Hopkins statement.
"The more of these variants an individual has, the greater are his or her chances of having hypertension, stroke and coronary artery disease," says study author Aravinda Chakravarti.
Chakravarti is professor of medicine, paediatrics and molecular biology and genetics, at Johns Hopkins.
The individuals whose genomes were analyzed for this study had their BP recorded when they originally entered other long-term cardiovascular research studies.
Scientists used these measures to assess the predictive value of the genes and BP in terms of the subjects' current cardiovascular status.
Gracefully appear for DNA test: Delhi HC to Tiwari
2012/5/14 3:55:52 New Delhi, May 14 (INN): The Delhi High Court on Monday ordered senior politician and former Andhra Pradesh governor N D Tiwari to either “gracefully appear” for a DNA test or the Delhi police would forcibly conduct the paternity test in connection with a case filed by Rohit Shekhar (31), who claims to be Tiwari’s biological son.
Justice Reva Khetarpal directed Tiwari to inform the court about his decision within two days. The court has also asked the Hyderabad-based Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics (CDFD) to send DNA test kits to Delhi and asked the court registry to apprise the concerned authorities of the same.
Rohit Shekhar also raised serious apprehension that Tiwari would leave the country to delay the procedure of DNA testing like he has done in the last one-and-a-half year. Reacting to the appeal, the court restrained Tiwari from leaving the country. “You are not permitted to leave the country till the sample for the DNA test is taken,” the court said.
The court also came down heavily on the veteran politician for his conduct over the past two years and said that it was improper for someone who has served in various capacities as a minister in the country to try to circumvent legal proceedings. "The court reminded him of the five orders that were given over the years for his DNA test," Rohit Shekhar said. He said he had filed the paternity suit in 2008 to prove that the Congress leader was his biological father.
The HC division bench of Acting Chief Justice AK Sikri and Justice Rajiv Sahai Endlaw had on April 27 told Tiwari that he should obey the orders of the court and submit his DNA sample or risk being forced to give one. The bench had passed the orders while hearing Shekhar’s plea challenging the single judge’s 23 September 2011, order which had stated that Tiwari could not be compelled but an adverse inference could be drawn from his repeated refusal to give blood samples.
Setting aside the previous order, the court had said “police assistance and use of reasonable force for compliance thereof” can be taken as judicial orders needed to be executed.
After the HC order, Tiwari approached the Supreme Court (SC), which too refused to give him any relief. “Enough is enough. You (Tiwari) were not present on earlier occasions. Having regard to your age, we had told you to give sample in a sealed cover. We gave you protection under Article 21, but enough is enough,” a bench of justices Aftab Alam and CK Prasad had said.
Shekhar moved the HC last week for forcibly taking Tiwari’s blood sample for the test since he had not complied with the HC’s 23 December, 2010 and 27 April, 2012, orders. “Direct the non-applicant 1 (Tiwari) to furnish blood samples at the earliest convenience of this court. In the event that Tiwari fails to appear on the date fixed by the court, appoint a Commissioner to draw blood samples of Tiwari by force or otherwise,” he said in his application.
2007/12/30 8:50:51 The Andhra Pradesh Governor N D Tiwari called on Chiranjeevi at his residence today. The Governor drove to Chiranjeevi’s residence to offer his condolences to Chiranjeevi. Chiranjeevi’s father K Venkat Rao passed away recently.
Chiranjeevi received the Governor at the entrance of his residence and took him inside. N D Tiwari offered floral tributes to the portrait of Venkat Rao. The Governor offered his deepest condolences to Chiranjeevi and his family. The Governor spent about half an hour at Chiranjeevi’s residence.
2011/9/27 9:28:02 The Delhi High Court Tuesday issued a contempt notice to Congress leader N.D. Tiwari for defying its order asking him to give his blood sample in a paternity suit filed by a 32-year-old claiming to be his son.
Justice Gita Mittal, referring to her Sep 23 judgment in which she had termed Tiwari's refusal to give blood sample "wilful, malicious, unreasonable and unjustified", issued the notice, returnable for Feb 15.
The court asked Tiwari "why contempt proceedings should not be initiated against defendant (Tiwari) for his deliberate, wilful disobedience of the court's order".
Justice Mittal issued the notice four days after conceding that the 85-year-old leader cannot be physically compelled to give his blood sample for DNA test as per the court's order last year.
The court issued the contempt notice to Tiwari on a plea filed by Rohit Shekhar, who claims to be Tiwari's biological son born out of the veteran politician's relationship with Ujjwala Sharma.
The court in May asked the veteran leader to appear before it June 1 and give his blood sample for DNA test to ascertain Shekhar's claim.
After Tiwari failed to appear and give his blood sample, Shekhar in July moved the high court for initiation of contempt proceedings against the politician.
On July 21, Tiwari's personal affidavit was placed before Justice Mittal. It stated that he would not give his blood sample for the DNA test.
Going through the affidavit, the court asked Tiwari: "Don't you think that DNA test will vindicate completely your stand that you have not sired the plaintiff?"
"I have an unblemished public career which justifies me to contest against the plaintiff who is bent upon to tarish my public image by bringing false cause and even unwarranted contempt petition so as to get undue publicity in print as well as electronic media," said Tiwari's affidavit.
"In order to preserve, protect and defend my personal dignity attained by my long cherished service to the nation as well as society, I being a senior citizen too, I am not willing to give my blood sample for DNA testing. Hence, I may not be compelled to do so," the affidavit said.
On Tuesday, the court directed Shekhar, his mother Ujjwala Sharma and her former husband B.P. Sharma to appear before the joint registrar Oct 20 to give their blood samples for DNA test.
The court has also appointed a local commissioner to record evidence of Ujjwala Sharma and Tiwari.
"On Nov 28, the duo will record their evidence in presence of the local commissioner," the court said.
The music launch of the Bhojpuri film Gangotri --starring Amitabh Bachchan and Bhojpuri superstar Manoj Tiwari -- tuned out to be much ado about not much.
Incidentally, this is the first time that a film's music has been launched after the movie's release.
The Bachchans were there, albeit for a few minutes only. In fact, Amitabh was on stage for just five minutes, joined by son Abhishek and daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai.
One could not but help wonder if they were there just as a favour to Amitabh's makeup man Deepak Sawant, who has produced Gangotri.
Manoj Tiwari, meanwhile, entertained the audience with his singing skills.
