An unidentified woman fell into the valley in Tirumala. The mishap occurred when the woman who was on her way by foot to Tirumala slipped and fell into the valley.
The mishap occurred near the first ghat road near Avvachary kona. The pilgrims who noticed this immediately informed the TTD authorities. The fire brigade and other rescue personnel have reached the spot and are trying to rescue the woman.

The RTC authorities are considering a proposal to ply CNG buses on the ghat roads. This will help curb pollution to a considerable extent. The ‘green’ buses would be introduced in a phased manner.

The APSRTC has com up with a new scheme for pilgrims planning a trip to Tirumala. According to the new scheme, the RTC will issue a combo ticket, which would enable toe pilgrim to reach Tirupathi by train and then catch a bus to Tirumala.
On arrival at Tirumala he can exchange the ticket for a darshan token and return home the same evening. The modalities are still being worked out and the scheme is likely to be implemented within three months.

The future of 2000 Andhra students of North Virginia University- Washington, hangs in the air with the US emigration department seizing of its offices and web site. The University which is allowed to issue only 50 I-20 Visas to its students was found given much more than its limit taking advantage of the Andhra students’ eagerness to grab a seat in US universities.
The US Authorities who are investigating this case, keeping in view of the severe criticism that they have faced for fixing electronic monitoring devices to student’s legs in the Tri Valley University case, have refrained from such practices this time. The US Authorities were said to be given 3 options to the students.
1.To continue in the same University if it starts functioning again. 2. To seek transfer into some other University 3. Voluntarily return home.
The Authorities have also agreed not to terminate the present visa status of the students until their present duration, so as they can get transferred to some other universities.
The Indian Embassy in Washington has been in touch with the US authorities to try and ensure that the students are not victimized.

Repair works on Tirumala road, traffic to be diverted
2011/6/12 3:00:34 Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams Joint Executive Officer K S Srinivasa Raju on Sunday stated that the Second Ghat Road on Tirumala would be closed for traffic from June 14 to undertake repairs.
Talking to media persons, the JEO said that the restrictions on vehicular traffic would come into effect from June 14 in the wake of repair works taken up by the management of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams on the Tirupati-Tirumala Second Ghat Road.
He said the vehicles would not be permitted on the Ghat Road from 9 AM to 6 PM. During this time, the vehicular traffic would diverted to the First Ghat Road.
“The repair works would be completed within a fortnight,” the JEO said.
Mr Srinivasa Raju pointed out that owing to heavy influx of pilgrims on account of the summer vacations, the TTD had temporarily halted the ongoing renovation works on Second Ghat Road.
He said the TTD is laying a Black Topped (BT) road at an estimated cost of Rs 4.15cr from Sri Vinayaka temple located at the beginning of the Second Ghat Road to GNC toll gate at Tirumala stretching to a length of about 15.5 km.(INN)
2008/4/7 23:22:05 Heroine Shreya had a bitter and ugly experience at Tirumala yesterday. She came to Tirumala along with her family members for darshan. She had darshan of Lord Venakteswara Swamy early in the morning. When she came out after Suprabhata darshan, a big crowd gathered around her.
While she was talking to them, a guy tried to grope her. He put her hand on Shreya’s waist and an infuriated Shreya immediately turned around and slapped him hard. The crowd pulled up the guy and beat him up black and blue. Shreya was so upset with the incident that she immediately boarded her car and headed home without going to the guesthouse. The guy in question has been identified as Hari, a 20 year old employee of the Shankar Mutt.
Woman devotees of Sathya Sai Baba are now at the receiving end of the lathis of the police. The woman devotees have been camping in Puttaparthi for the last one month but could not get a glimpse of Baba when he was alive.
Now when they are trying to pay their homage to Baba, the cops are harassing them. The woman devotees were latch charged when they tried to enter Sai Kulwant Hall where Baba’s mortal remains have now been kept.
There are no woman constables and the woman devotes are shocked and hurt by the way the cops are treating them. Still not a single devotee is ready to leave Puttaparthi without paying last respects to Baba.
